Work Text:
The scar on Luffy's chest hurts sometimes. It's a big scar. It isn't surprising. It was a wound that could easily have killed him. Luffy tries to pretend it doesn't hurt, anyway. He tries to tell himself that the ache is just in his head.
The other Straw Hats can tell. They catch him rubbing it, sometimes, with a grimacing expression on his face as he drags the soft pads of his fingers over the shiny, puckered flesh. They pretend they don't notice. For their captain's dignity. Because he would say 'no' if they asked. But each of them knows.
Every now and again each of them kisses his chest when they see he's been rubbing it. Nami rubs her face against the mark and peppers it in butterfly kisses. Zoro plants a single, devotional kiss at the center. Usopp jokes that it's where he's hidden the treasure. Sanji kisses the scar as if it was the back of a lady's hand. The whole crew has their different ways. And each of them soothes their beloved captain.
The gentle touches relieve the pain. They relieve the worry that something has been missing since that day. The love is still there.
