Guys I am SOOOO sorry for how late this was!

But nevertheless! It is finally here! ♡

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Y/ns POV

When I first found out I was moving to Japan, I couldn't believe it. Not in a 'omg! I can't believe this is happening!' Way, in a 'What the hell? I cannot believe this.' Way.

My mother had gotten a job as a nurse over there. She told me she just always loved Japan and dreamed of going there, but I foolishly assumed she'd wait till I graduated or moved out to move there.

And it's not like I have a problem with Japan, I actually like it, it's just.. very far away. It doesn't help that I'm already a sophomore or 10th grade, so many people will already have their own friend groups and I'll be left alone. And it especially doesn't help that I'm socially awkward.

Nevertheless, I had no choice but to pack my things and leave. Currently, it was my last week staying in the states and I was feeling pretty melancholy. My mom had pulled me out of school a day ago so I tearfully bid my friends goodbye. I've kept in contact with them through my phone but haven't seen them in person, besides my best friend since she lived next to me.

I sat up and decided to leave my dark and empty room to go for a walk, not realizing the time. I was surprised to see my best friend, Julia. She was average in height, pale, and had curly blond hair. She smiled and walked over to me eagerly.

"Y/n! Hey, what's up?" She said happily.

"Hey, Jules! I was just going out for a walk. What are you doing here so early?" I replied.

"Early? Girl, it's 4:26." She said.

A surprised expression crossed my features, "4:26!?"

She giggled and nodded. "What have you been doing all day? Sleeping?"

I looked away and sheepishly nodded, "Yeah.. Maybe.." I cleared my throat. "But I was packing all day yesterday, that was pretty tiring ya know."

"Yeah yeah.. Well, anyway, we should have a sleepover. One day, to celebrate your last week here." She proposed.

I smiled, "yeah that sounds great!" I said excitedly. "We can do it on Thursday since my flight is on Friday afternoon."

"Awesome! I can't wait! But, I gotta get outta here, unlike you, I have homework." Julia said before she walked over to her house. She blew a kiss goodbye before she shut the door behind her.

I smiled and continued my walk around the neighborhood.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later on that night, me and my mom had some take out from my favorite Chinese place. I sighed as I cuddled into one of my last blankets I had and held my warm food close. We watched Hells Kitchen on my laptop and sat on the floor. Once we finished, we threw out our trash and laid out some sleeping bags, yes that's how we were living, not for long!

In the morning, it was back to packing. We didn't have much left, just some spare blankets, and stuff from the kitchen. I had just finished packing up the last boxes when I had a sudden thought.

'𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴? 𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘶𝘱?' I wondered to myself. It was barely Wednesday and we were already done packing.

My mother came out and stood next to me. "Ah, honey, there you are. Why are you just standing around?" She asked with a smile.

"Just thinking.."

"About what?"

"Well.. Why do we have a full week to be here? We already said our goodbyes to our friends and relatives here, and we're done packing.. So why do we have two days left?" Not that I was complaining, I 𝘸𝘢𝘴 excited for my sleepover with Julia.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you! I realized our packing and things were moving along quicker than I expected, so I switched our flight." She said happily.

"Uh.. What?"

"Our flight was moved to Thursday morning." She cheerfully stated.

"Oh.."

"What's wrong, honey?"

"Well.. Me and Julia were planning on having a sleepover the night before I left." I said sadly.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, dear." My mother said with a crestfallen look. "If I had known, I wouldn't have changed it."

"I know.. I'm just.. Trying to figure out how I'm gonna tell her."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About an hour later, I tried calling Julie, forgetting that she wouldn't answer since she was at school. I ended up texting her and telling her what happened.

𝘈𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 hour later, and she still hasn't responded. School was out and I know she read my message as it said so.

I sighed. She did this sometimes. Ignoring me and anyone else whenever things didn't go as she planned. Anytime I had to cancel on our plans or one of our parents said no to a hangout/sleepover, she'd ignore everyone and stay to herself. It was a bit childish, but it didn't happen often. I was mostly sad that I'd be leaving America on a bad note with her.

Hours later and it was now 8 pm. She had still made no attempt to contact me despite my many calls and texts. I was nearly going crazy, but I realized, I was moving away. I was going to a new school, in a new neighborhood, in a new city, and a new country. I'd get to start fresh, maybe meet people and try to get over my social anxiety.

I bit my lip and stopped trying to contact Julia, she could text or call when she's feeling better. For now though, I need rest.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was woken up at 4 am sharp by my mother gently shaking me. I got up and placed my blankets and sleeping bag into a suitcase before my mother and I hopped into a taxi and drove to the airport.

I sleepily went through the usual stuff you'd do at an airport and took my seat on the plane. While on the plane I did some duolingo lessons to help with my Japanese and my mother read a book. The flight was long, yet peaceful.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few days after settling in at our new house in Japan, my mother took me to my new school to get my schedule. The school was big and there wasn't any kids there due to it being a weekend. The principal was nice and gave me my schedule before telling me that someone would be here to show me around on my first day. I was a bit nervous about that, but tried not to show it. He also informed me that I was required to join a club and handed me a small packet of papers with lists of all the school clubs.

𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 made me even 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 nervous. I wasn't sure what club I'd wanna join, and I wasn't fond of speaking with people I don't know. I sulked the whole way home.

I absolutely 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵 looking forward to my first day at Nekoma, but I decided it was better to just get it over with and one day, I might laugh at this moment.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, the dreadful day came when I'd have to endure my first day at a foreign school. I woke up and hour early and took a shower, brushed my teeth, washed my face, got dressed into my uniform, did my hair, and grabbed everything I needed for school before I shoved them into my back pack.

We lived close enough to the school that I could walk there, so I did. My mother kissed me goodbye and I walked off. On the way, I spotted a few other kids with Nekoma uniforms, although I didn't go up to them out of nervousness.

Once I made it to school, I walked in and went to the principals office to meet my guide. The principal introduced me to the girl standing beside him. She was 5'3 had black hair, brown eyes, and was smiling slightly. She walked up to me and bowed slightly.

"My names is Kuroo Aiko, but you can just call me Aiko." She said.

I blushed a tiny bit feeling equally flustered and embarrassed. "M-my name is L/n Y/n.. you can call me Y/n though." I said with a smile.

"Now that you're acquainted, Kuroo-chan, please show her around." Mr.Principal said.

Aiko nodded and walked out, waving her hand in a 'follow me' gesture. She showed me around the first year hall, the cafeteria, the gyms, and the preforming arts centers before taking me back to the first year hall. It was a surprisingly quick tour considering the size of the school, but I guess that might be because we skipped the areas for second and third years.

She took me to my first class, which had about 20 minute left. "If you ever need help or just someone to talk to, you can always come to me!" She said cheerfully.

I smiled and nodded greatfully, "Thank you, Aiko-chan." I said.

She did a small and quick bow before leaving. I looked over at the door, my heart racing and my palms sweating as I realized I'd have to go in and introduce myself to the whole class.. 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦...
