To anyone watching, it would look like Charles is sharing something funny with Max, but what Charles whispers to him is far from a joke, “You know, Max, you are not a very graceful loser and you are just too obvious. You might want to work on that because this year, losing will be your thing, not mine.” There isn’t a flicker of doubt in Charles’ voice. He says it like he is stating the obvious. The conviction in his voice is replaced by snark when he adds, “Speaking from experience, no one likes a sour loser.”
Caught unaware, he is frozen in place. What the fuck? Did Charles really call him a loser, on the fucking podium?
