Work Text:

After two weeks of being the parkour God, Evbo can say one thing for sure, he was getting bored. I mean, what is there to do at this point? He had already saved Parkour Civilisation twice, and he doubts any new enemies will be showing up any time soon..
Hell, even if they did, could he even do anything about it? He's a Godly figure that's supposed to rarely show up, that's how the last one did it anyway...

He sighed, kicking his feet up onto the cloud floating in front of him. He held out a book and quill in front of him, it was written entirely in Parkour. He just recently picked up writing as a hobby, and it's nice, since he's God he can do practically anything, and this was a nice change of pace from having to parkour for his life all of the time. He thinks it was, anyway.

He's not really in the mood for writing, but what else can he do? Parkour Civilisation is pretty much already back up and running, once EMF managed to find out how to actually control the Command Blocks, Parkour Civilisation was slowly rebuilt back to it's former glory, no more prisons and parkour race stages. Exactly how it was before, maybe even better. Everyone who was still alive and imprisoned were released, and those who died respawned after the parkour villain was defeated.

That being said...where the hell was Seawatt? He should've come back, right? Not like Evbo missed him or anything but he was worried that if he came back he'd try to destroy parkour civilisation, by himself this time. Maybe because he died in the secret fifth layer he didn't come back? Or maybe he ran off after he respawned to secretly come up with a new plan? Evbo shook his head, no time to think about that right now...he's supposed to be relaxing.

"I wonder what EMF is doing right now..."

The current parkour champion, and his closest friend.

He pondered for a moment, thinking back to when he chose EMF as the champion. He remembers EMF being super nervous, trying to hide his shock and graciously accepting his new position. He struggled a lot on his first few days..

"Man, why did the command blocks have to be a four block jump?"

"It's not that hard, come on, you'll get used to it. Besides, you're the new parkour champion, you should be doing that in your sleep."

He heard the slight scrape of diamond boots as EMF just barely did the jump, and he smiled to himself, ah..he'll get used to it, he thought, looking down at the barely built house EMF just made, and not to mention it being 50 blocks off the ground..

He turned to EMF, clapping his hands together,

"It's fine, don't sweat it, not everyone gets it on their first try, I mean I did, but I'm sure you'll get as good as me in no time!"

He said, chuckling to himself a little after his boast.

"Yeah of course you did bro."

He smiles at the memory.

It wasn't long until EMF figured it out and was able to get around without falling. He still has a lot to learn, and it was fun watching him struggle for a bit. But now, he can use those command blocks pretty much perfectly, only failing about 10% of the time now. Right, he saved parkour civilisation twice, became the parkour God, made EMF the champion and now parkour civilisation is better than ever.
Evbo looked over the edge of the cloud he was sitting on. Down below him was parkour civilisation, it looks so small from up here.

But...

Now what?

Is this all there is?

Man, how did the last guy do it?

Evbo thought for a moment.

Maybe he should go see EMF.

Yeah, he was bored and wanted someone to talk to.

He closed the book and stood up, brushing the clouds off his clothes, and jumped down, doing a 360 and landing on the floor at the top of the parkour temple. He breathed in, it's only been a few days since he last came down, and of course it still looks the same as usual. The pristine white quartz flooring smiled up at him as he stared down at his blurry reflection. He looked up, on this layer there was nothing but the small white platform, the champions throne and the command blocks.
He looked up at the throne, it was still a little foreboding...it was just a white marble throne with diamond trimming, but the aura around it was something else, despite being God, it was still a little unnerving. He remembers the first time he saw it, it felt so unreal, he felt like he shouldn't be the one sitting in the throne, that he didn't deserve it.

The sun was setting, and all he could see around him was the beautiful, empty sky, there was nothing else up here other than this platform. He swallowed thickly, even after all this time being up here still made him nervous. He thinks that was it, anyway. Being at the top of civilisation still felt unreal, he could feel the gentle breeze, the warmth of the setting sun and the faint sound of the parkour masters on the level below him.

"Yo."

He heard a familiar voice near him.

"Oh, hey dude."

Evbo said, turning and seeing the person he was just thinking about walking up to him. EMF looked happy to see him, at least he thinks, his glowing white eyes were upturned in a smile. He couldn't really tell what he was feeling apart from his eyes, it was the only feature on him, the rest just being a foreboding black void. The setting sun smiled warmly on him, a faint orange glow encompasses him. Evbo smiled, he looked more like the parkour God than him..

"What are you doing down here?"

EMF asks, standing beside him and looking out.

"Ah..nothing really, you know."

Evbo says, shrugging his shoulders, he looks over at EMF, who is raising an eyebrow(?) at him,

"I was bored and saw you were down here, figured I'd say hi."

He said nonchalantly, of course he wouldn't admit he was thinking about him, that'd be embarrassing. He gulped, man, why was he so nervous? Usually this place doesn't have much of an effect on him. It's been a while, anyway..

"Oh, okay."

EMF said, nodding. Evbo let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding in, suddenly he had an idea, to save them both from the awkward situation,

"Hey, wanna race to the noob level?"

Evbo asked, grinning at EMF, he knew his friend couldn't say no to that. EMF's eyes widened, a certain twinkle in them,

"You're on."

He said, they walked up to the edge of the temple, looking down at the parkour civilisation below them, they could see each layer, each row of dirt blocks and houses blending together into a blur. Evbo smiled briefly, he really did come a long way, from a noob all the way to the top. He looked over at EMF, his champion friend, his right hand man, they've both come a long way.

After parkour civilisation was rebuilt, they'd come together and practice parkour, EMF wanted to learn so many things, 360 jumps, 4 block jumps, ice jumps, everything. Of course Evbo would teach him, EMF improved a lot after only 2 weeks, but he was still kind of a beginner at the harder stuff. He smiled, looking away and staring down at parkour civilisation.

He remembered how proud he felt when EMF did his first 360 at the secret fifth layer, he didn't even have faith in himself yet he did it. It truly was an impressive feat, and EMF knew it too. He remembered how he just started at Evbo in shock, his legs very slightly trembling. He didn't say anything for a short while, unsurprisingly, it was a life or death situation, and EMF thought for sure he was going to die. He and Evbo quickly rushed out to save parkour civilisation after his praise, after that he had simply returned back to normal.

Now, he's gotten so much better at 360s, no doubt about it.

"You ready?"

EMF said, looking back over at Evbo. Evbo grinned at him,

"Born ready."

He said, smirking.

"Go."
They sprinted down the parkour course that lead up to the champion layer, then entered the parkour temple to race down the course that lead up to the master level, so on and so forth, until they reached the parkour course at the noob level.
They were neck and neck, Evbo looked over at EMF, the determined glint in his eyes shining, he really has come so far, the first time they raced like this EMF was really far behind, if he keeps at this pace maybe he'd win. Evbo chuckled, nah, Evbo is the best, he'd never let anyone beat him, he was the parkour God, after all. Losing would be embarrassing.

And then suddenly, he tripped.

His leg gave way and he tumbled forward, hitting the ground with a thud.

EMF noticed, looking at Evbo as he passed by, a mischevious glint in his eye.

Dammit, EMF knew he was gonna win.

Evbo thought, standing up and dusting his knees off, he was fine, thankfully, not even losing any hearts, you see, as the parkour God, he can't take any damage, so he's pretty much immortal, but that was still embarrassing. He got up and continued the race, EMF was ahead, a decent sized gap between them.

He wasn't gonna let him get away with it.

The end was coming up, and the distance between him and EMF was shrinking.

Just a little bit further and they'll tie.

As they both reached the finish line, they jumped, Evbo using his momentum to do a 360 midair and land first. He landed first and immediately turned to look at EMF, who was smiling,

"You win again, just as I expected."

Evbo smiled back, leaning over and putting his hands on his knees exhaling a deep breath. Damn, that was close...he thought. He suddenly remembered his battle with the parkour villain, and how similar it was to this race, hell, he even did the same 360 at the finish line. He shook his head, no need to think about that, it's over and done with, and he's happy that this time he's not fighting for his life.

"I'm surprised, you almost beat me, congrats,"

Evbo said, putting a hand on EMF's shoulder, EMF looked at him with a weird expression,

"That was only because you fell near the end, if you didn't fall, you would've won by a landslide."
EMF said, Evbo could've sworn there was a hint of disappointment in his voice.

He released the hand he had on his shoulder, letting it fall to his side,

"Oh, come on. You'll beat me eventually."

Evbo smiled at him, trying to lighten the mood a little,

"I mean, you've already improved a lot, we were tied for most of it."

He added, hoping it would cheer EMF up a little, and it did.

"Yeah, you're right, thanks, Evbo."

They stepped outside into the noob level.

The sun has set, the night sky enveloping them, the moon shone brightly, illuminating the houses below them, giving them a warm white glow.

It was really nice, actually, the cool breeze felt good, Evbo looked up at the sky, seeing the layers above him. He sighed, his excitement from the race was pretty short lived, feeling a wave of nostalgia come over him. He sat down on the cold stone floor, his legs hanging off the edge to the void.
It felt like yesterday when he was a noob, having to jump for the raw beef or raw chicken every morning, when he thought 2 block jumps were impossible. He wasn't allowed outside at night because of the curfew set by the pros, so looking at the noob level at night felt unreal. He smiled, remembering how naive and ambitious he was to do the course to become a pro, and how shocked he was when he found out pros weren't at the top. Man, he really has come a long way..

"Do you miss it?"

EMF suddenly asked, looking up at the layers above them.

Evbo was caught off guard, he turned to EMF,

"Miss what?"

"When you were a noob."
He answered simply.

Evbo pondered the question.

Did he miss it?

No, definitely not.

He thinks EMF was born as a parkour master, so he had no idea what it was like being a noob, being mistreated by the pros, watching his neighbours fall one by one as they jumped for the beef, so Evbo could understand why he would ask, but..

"No, I dont."
He said, looking at the rows of houses in the distance, maybe..if he was a noob now, when there's no more crazy laws, and noobs are actually free to do whatever. Of course they still get fed by the pros every morning, EMF had to reintroduce daily tasks for the noobs and masters so the parkour society can actually function, which was a huge oversight on Evbos part. But, they get fed actual cooked food, and since they're noobs, their leather boots only allows them to go up to 3 hunger bars.
He looked down at the void, actually, maybe he does...it seems a lot easier climbing to the top now, but hey, he still enjoyed the extreme challenges of ranking of becoming God, let alone saving the world twice, and it probably shaped him into who he is today. So, maybe, just a little bit, he missed the struggles, the hardships and the pain.

"I understand, when I was a noob things were so..”

EMF said, taking Evbo out of his trance, Evbo looked over at him, who was staring mindlessly into the distance. Huh, Evbo never knew he was a noob.

"So what?"

Evbo said, encouraging EMF to finish his train of thought. EMF sighed, looking down at Evbo melancholically,

"I don't know..I can't put my finger on it"

EMF finished, shrugging his shoulders.

"I get what you mean."

Evbo said, chuckling, EMF staying quiet.

He heard the quiet clack of diamond boots next to him, EMF sat down beside him. They were quiet, the only noise was the sound of the wind. Evbo choked a little, looking over at his friend, not used to the sudden proximity, he could feel his heart in his throat. EMF looking out at the distance, paying no mind to Evbos little panic attack. He could feel his hands get sweaty and nervously rubbed them together, looking away. God, what's wrong with him? He's never gotten close with someone before in terms of proximity, everyone always stayed at least 1 feet away from each other, sure, they've got close before, but only to give like a high-five or a pat on the shoulder before quickly moving away. He coughed, feeling the others body heat radiate off him, they were only a few inches apart, and it felt so..

Okay, just calm down, you're just nervous because of the proximity, nothing to do with EMF at all, it's just something new. Evbo thought to himself, man, how did it even get to this point? First they were racing down to the noob level, now they're sitting together in the dark? Alright, just relax, you can find a way out of this.

"Hey uh.."

EMF turned to him, looking expectantly, Evbo could swear he looks a little nervous too,

"It's late, we should go back up."

Evbo said, trying to diffuse the situation, he thinks he felt the air change just a little.

EMF looks down at the void,

"Yeah, we should."

They quickly parkour back up to the champion level, at the top they stand facing each other. Evbo looks up at the sky above them, it's clear, no clouds in the sky, he watches as the stars twinkle above them. He smiles, It's beautiful.
He looks back down to see EMF looking at him, yeah, he thinks, it's time to go, but first..

"Hey, I have a question"

"Yeah?"

EMF looks expectant, Evbo takes a quick glance around,

"Uh, where do you sleep? There's no beds on the champion layer"

EMF deadpans,

"I have a house on the master level, and it seriously took you two weeks to ask that? Did you think I was sleeping on the floor?"

Evbo laughs, looking away, he felt a little embarrassed,

"Yeah, you're right. Sorry, I just don't know what to talk about..Well, I'll be going now, I'll see you soon."

EMF hesitates a little, the gentle breeze flows quietly inbetween them, the world is completely silent, it feels like it's just them two, nothing else.

"Yeah, I'll see you soon."

He finally says, looking away from Evbo and parkouring down to the master level.
Huh...that felt..weird. Evbo thought, oh well, might as well not dread on it, he teleports back up to his secret God level, which is pretty much just a bunch of clouds. Since he was God, he could do anything, even teleporting and flying, but he doesn't do it often, since he feels like it's cheating, he really only does it to go up to his secret level.

He stretched, letting out a big yawn, wandering over to his makeshift cloud bed and collapsing onto it, he groaned, turning over and rubbing a hand over his face. He was bored again. He leaned over and grabbed his book and quill next to him, opening it up on the most recent page.

He thinks about the day, it was pretty fun. He didn't realise how much he missed spending time with his best friend. Recently his days have been extremely boring. They should go and do something tomorrow, something to pass the time, or maybe just spend more time with each other.
Yeah, that'd be nice, he thinks, bringing his attention to the book. He doesn't really write about anything in particular, usually just short stories. Sometimes he uses it as a diary, writing down his experiences and thoughts, it's nice, therapeutic, even. He just writes whatever comes to mind.

He puts his quill on the page and begins writing. He's glad he could read and understand parkour, he doesn't really know how he learnt it in the first place, one time he showed EMF a page that was written in parkour, and he couldn't understand it at all. He chuckled at the memory, maybe he should teach him..

Evbo wrote and wrote and wrote until his hand started cramping, he yawned, leaning back against the cloud bed and stretching his arms out. He looked down at the words he wrote, it was mostly about the day, talking about how much fun he had and stuff like that, it was just a normal day, but somehow it felt really special. Maybe he was just excited because he hasn't spent time with EMF in a while. He closed the book, putting his quill and the book back where it was and laid down.
It was cold, as usual, the cold air nipping at his skin. He doesn't really know why he decided to sleep in the sky, he could just build himself a giant mansion or something. Oh right..he thought to himself, I'm God, my existence has to be ambiguous, I can't just make my existence obvious by making a giant mansion somewhere. Oh well, at least the clouds are comfortable.
He closed his eyes, feeling his consciousness fade, and he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Evbo was woken up the sun shining in his eyes.

"Ughh..."

One problem of living at the very top of the world, is that the sun always rudely shines in your face, and you can't get any shade. He rolled over, trying to go back to sleep, but after a few moments realised that he's not gonna be able to fall asleep again, so he begrudgingly sat up and yawned, stretching his arms.

He quickly thought about what to do today. Yeah, he should do some parkour.

After becoming God, everything slowed down. It was such a sudden change, from day to day, from when he was a noob up until he became God, he'd be constantly parkouring for his life, having to save the world..always being under pressure, but now...nothing. There was a sudden calmness in the world.

Of course, that's not to say he misses being constantly stressed and fighting for his life. But, the feeling of adrenaline running through his veins and the sense of achievement he felt after achieving all his goals, was so fulfilling. After becoming God, there's no challenge for him anymore. Parkour is still fun, and he's constantly improving

but..

It's not as fun when there's no pressure.

But, he can't do anything about it. He's the God, the parkour God, the one who saved the world, and there's no one to challenge him. He can't bring back the parkour villain, the command blocks are safe with EMF, and Seawatt is gone, so there's no reason to worry.
Maybe he'll go and talk to EMF again.

He teleported down, the sun was just barely rising, so the sky was a beautiful gradient of blue, pink and gold, the golden glow of the sunrise shone over the horizon.

The champion level was empty.

"EMF?"

He called out, his voice echoing through the empty space

There was no response.

Well, he's the champion, he's probably off doing his own thing, helping the masters maybe? Evbo thought, he thought about going to find him, but he can't just appear in the other layers, if people see him, it could end in disaster, so instead he just went off and did what he does best, parkour.

Over the course of the day, he built himself multiple courses on the champion layer, practicing the harder parkour stuff, and doing some beginner things so he doesn't get rusty. He sighs, he doesn't really feel the thrill of completing a difficult course anymore. Sure, it's fun, and he's getting better every day, but...

He doesn't feel the same satisfaction he did when he was a noob, constantly working up the ranks, being scared out of his mind, every jump possibly being his last.
Now, it's just simple, and easy. He doesn't have to worry about dying anymore.

"Hey."

Evbo jumped slightly, initiating his fight or flight, bringing out an oak block from his inventory to prepare for a parkour battle. He turned, getting ready to make a 5 block diagonal vertical jump with a 360 for good measure, but then-

"Hey, whoa, it's just me."

Evbo calmed down, relaxing his body and letting out a deep breath.

"Oh, hey, you scared me."

He guesses his natural instinct kicked in, when he was saving the world as a master and a champion, he had to constantly worry about being ambushed by the enemy side. It seems his mind hasn't quite caught up with the fact that he doesn't have to worry about that anymore. For now, at least, you can't be too careful.

He looked up at EMF, his expression was unreadable as he sighed, he looked a little deep in thought.

"Practicing parkour, huh? How long have you been up here?"

EMF suddenly asked, looking over at Evbo.

"Oh, since this morning I think"

He shrugged, looking around. He noticed the sun was setting, the sky gradually getting darker. Damn, has it been that long already? I guess the hours blend together when he's doing parkour.

EMF didn't say anything.

"Where have you been all day?"

Evbo asked, hoping it would make the awkward silence go away, EMF seemed a little off today.

"I've just been helping the masters, that's all."

EMF said, looking away, a faint hint of melancholy in his voice. Evbo nodded, looking back at the parkour course behind them, he quickly deleted it with the swipe of his hand, since he became God, he practically had the command blocks at his finger tips, being able to use them at anytime.

"You're tired, aren't you?"

EMF suddenly asked, and Evbo stopped, looking back at EMF with a confused expression.

"Uh...no? I'm still pretty wide awake actually."

He said, chuckling awkwardly.

"I mean, you're tired of being God."

EMF said, sighing, Evbo was quiet for a moment.

Yeah, he was. It was well established at this point.

"Why do you think that?"

He asks, his voice coming out a lot quieter than expected, he doesn't even know if EMF heard him.

EMF sighed,

"It's obvious, I can see it, the way you look constantly, you look tired. You're not excited as you used to be, when we did that race yesterday, usually you get all excited and gloat but you were just.."

"You're wrong."

Evbo said, a bit more defensive than intended, his voice shaking a little, his heart pounding. He didn't know what he was so nervous about, or why his heartbeat was going haywire, but his mouth moved on its own. He thought about it...EMF was kinda right, he was excited, but it was short lived, all the joy came from spending time with EMF, and after that all he did was think about his past with the parkour villain...and then reminisced about his time as a noob. But no, he doesn't want his friend worrying about him.

"I'm not tired of being God, I like it, a lot, it's so fun, and freeing.."

"Are you sure?"

EMF asks, cutting Evbo off, his voice was stern, almost commanding,

"Think about it, the way you act now, the way you were just a few weeks ago. They're completely different."

He looks into the void, the sun setting slowly behind them. No point being defensive now.

"I know, okay, I'm not stupid, but I can deal with it."

Evbo says, looking away, he felt like a kid being scolded.

EMF sighed,

"Come with me."

EMF leads him further in the champion layer, and they settle at the spot inbetween the throne and command blocks, EMF sits on the floor, leaning back on the cold marble of the thrones armrest.
Evbo sat across from him

They were quiet, the air was tense, Evbo could feel the atmosphere, the sun finally set, the breeze was cold, and he could see the faint glow of the moon start to illuminate the sky above them.
"So..."

Evbo said, the silence was deafening.

EMF stared at him with another unreadable expression,

"I've seen it in your eyes, you're always in thought, I don't know what about, but it can't be good. You need to relax a little, Evbo."

"Relax? Come on, what do you think I've been doing these past 2 weeks?"

Evbo retorted, of course he's been relaxing! He was the parkour God, there's nothing left for him to do, so obviously he's been relaxing. He thinks he is, anyway..

EMF sighed, he looked away, seeming deep in thought, but he slowly leaned forwards, extending his arm out and gently grabbing Evbos hand. Evbo froze in shock, he could feel static and little shocks and tingles as EMF slowly took his hand, sending shivers up his spine. His mouth was open in shock, and he was locked in a gentle stare with EMF. The moon seemed to align up perfectly, illuminating EMF and his hand in a faint, white glow. Evbo's mind raced, trying to figure out what the hell was going on, what was this feeling, and why is his heart pounding so fast. He couldn't hear a thing, all the noise was drowned out, even the sound of the gentle breeze. He closed his mouth, taking a deep breath in.

"Is this okay?"

He barely heard the words at first, his brain lagging behind. He swallowed thickly, was it okay? His body and mind were responding so strangely, in ways he's never experienced before. Maybe it is okay...he trusts EMF, he wouldn't do anything to hurt him.
"Yeah."

He responded, trying to keep his voice from trembling, but his body was frozen, and his voice was barely above a whisper. EMF relaxed a little,
"Come closer."

EMF said, his voice was gentle, but also a little shaky, like he was nervous too. Evbo scooched forwards a little, and EMF closed the gap, their knees now touching. His nerves were on fire now, he felt so sensitive to the world around him, to EMFs touch. It was overstimulating, exhilarating. He wanted more.

EMF gently brought his other hand over, he moved both his hands to Evbos waist and slowly turned him around, Evbo helping a little in the process. Evbo was facing the command blocks and empty sky, and EMF was behind him, his arms now fully wrapped around him, Evbo could feel his body heat and his soft breaths on his neck, the proximity was overwhelming. He could feel his face flush in heat as his whole body seemed to be on fire.
The hug was short lived, however, as EMF moved his hands to his shoulders gently brought Evbo down, nestling his head into his lap, and Evbo repositioned so that he was now laying down.
It felt so intimate, so wrong, but Evbo didn't hate it.

It was comforting, in a way.

"You deserve this."
EMF suddenly said, his voice low, quiet. Evbo stayed quiet, thinking about the words, trying to decipher what they meant. He felt EMFs hands grasp his head softly, he leaned into the touch, feeling the pads and ridges of his palm, it was soft, yet rugged in some places, maybe scars from when he'd fall down from doing parkour. He sighed.

He lazily looked up, their eyes locking for a moment, and his heart skipped a beat. EMF had an unreadable expression, but somehow, Evbo felt like he knew what he was feeling. He was starting to get used to it, his mind started to clear up a little, yet the world still felt like it only revolved around them.

He quickly looked away, his face flushed, and EMF started massaging his scalp, gently running his hands through his hair.
This is weird.

"Do you enjoy it?"

EMF said, his voice soft, and quiet.

Evbo was caught off guard, not expecting a sudden question.

"What?"

"Parkour. Do you still enjoy it, even now that there's no pressure, no challenges?"

He huffed a little, I see, he thought, this was all a tactic to get him to talk...he doesn't know why, but he feels kind of disappointed. Oh well, there's no reason to hide now.

"It's not that I don't like parkour, or anything, it's just.."

He trails off, the words seem to get stuck in his throat. He sighs, closing his eyes. He thinks back to when he was a noob, the memories rushing by him, the previous champion, Seawatt, the parkour villain. It's overwhelming, but, in some strange way, he misses it.

"I miss them."

"Miss who?"

EMF asks, he doesn't sound judgmental, or angry, his voice is still as gentle as ever, his hands still rubbing his head. Evbo relaxes a little, feeling the tension release.
"I miss being a noob, and when the world was on the line, I miss Seawatt, and the parkour champion, and the villain I know it's stupid, but-"

"It's not."

EMF said, interrupting him. Evbo could've sworn he heard his voice waver.

"It's not?"

"No, I..understand. We've been through it all, and suddenly...there's nothing."

Evbo nodded,

"I know.."

They sat in silence for a moment, Evbo closed his eyes, he felt exhausted, and his muscles were relaxing, slowly letting himself succumb to the comfort. He was glad he wasn't alone.

"You're tired, Evbo."

EMF suddenly said, and Evbo just started up at him

"I know."

"That's okay."

He sighed, looking up at the dark sky, the stars twinkling above him, they looked like freckles scattered across the sky. Evbo let out a deep breath, slowly extending his arm out to the sky, stretching his fingers out. The world seemed so tiny against the endless array of stars, he chuckled to himself, he's God, and he's been reduced to nothing.

He looked up at EMF, who was staring out into the distance too.

"Do you think, things could've gone differently?"

EMF turned his attention to him, looking down, and his eyebrows furrowed in concern.

"What do you mean?"

"Like, what if, we failed, and we got sent to prison, or something. And we had to do it all over again."

EMF doesn't respond.

"You know, I'd do it again. From the start, I want to do it again."

EMF looked down at him, with a calm expression

"Careful what you wish for."

He said, in a slightly playful manner. Evbo chuckled.

"I know, but...I mean, if it meant I could have those feelings again, and have those memories, I'd go through the pain all over again."

Evbo said, looking away, EMF didn't say anything, he looked deep in thought, his hand stopping it's falling out of his hair and resting on Evbos shoulders. He could feel the air shift again, and the comfortable air changed into something more...unfamiliar, it made him uncomfortable.

"You're amazing."

He says, and Evbo turns back to look at him, confused,

"Huh?"

"For going through so much, and not giving up."

EMF says, looking away. Evbo smiled a little,

"Hey, what are you talking about, you're the amazing one, I wouldn't be here without you."

It's true, he thinks, he wouldn't be here without his guidance, without the totem of undying EMF gave him. Without EMF, he probably would've died, or worse. He can't imagine how different the world would be if he hadn't been there.

"No, I wouldn't be here either."

Evbo chuckled,

"Alright, then, I guess we're both amazing."

They laugh, the awkward tension was lifted.

"Hey, uh, Evbo.."

EMFs voice suddenly turns serious, Evbo looks up, concerned. EMFs hands start moving again, slowly starting to massage Evbos shoulders.

"I have a question."

"Yeah?"

"How do you feel about me?"

Evbo is caught off guard, he's silent for a few moments, his mind racing, the words stuck in his throat, that's a good question..He's always been thankful to EMF for saving him, he's been such a good friend, even making him the champion. But..after some recent events, it's all been so confusing. His mind was racing, his heartbeat quickened, his cheeks flushed. He was confused, the sudden proximity, the gentleness, the intimacy. It felt wrong, and unnatural, yet so right. He doesn't understand his own feelings, how he reacted to everything. He's never done this before, the most physical contact he's ever gotten was a high five. And now, EMF is holding him like this, and he's feeling so many things, his emotions are a jumbled mess, he can't tell up from down.

"I..don't know."

He finally says, his voice shaky. EMFs hand stops,

"Are you scared?"

"No."

Evbo answered almost immediately, no, he's not scared, because..

"It's comforting, and..nice."

"Nice, huh."

EMF chuckled a little, and Evbo felt the embarrassment come back,

"I know it sounds stupid.."

"No, it's okay."

EMF reassured him, and Evbo felt a weight lift off his chest, he sighed.

"Thanks."

"So, how does it feel, being held like this?"

"It's strange, I've never really had this much physical contact before."

"Yeah, me neither."

"Oh."
He's quiet, his mind is a little clearer, his heartbeat calming down a little. They're quiet again, and Evbo doesn't want to question further...he sighs, this is nice, but...It's all going to go back to the same routine, he'll still have the same thoughts. He'll still have the same feelings, the same emotions, and nothing will change. He'll still be tired. EMF notices the conflict in his face.

"Do you want this to change?"

"Yeah."

Evbo answers honestly,

"It will."

"But, what can we do? It's not like there's anything else for me to do."

EMF looks at him,

"You're acting like this will be our life forever, but it won't. Things will change, Evbo, they already are."

"Really? How can you be sure?"

"I just know."

And Evbo looks at him with a questioning gaze,

"You can't tell what's ahead of us, you know, there's probably plenty of challenges waiting for us in the future. Maybe a new villain or something."
"But-"

"And even if there's not, we'll figure something out. If there's nothing left for you to do, I'll just make more work for you."
Evbo stares at him,

"Like what?"

"Well, we could challenge each other, you seemed to enjoy when we raced. There's also that fifth layer, that's probably still around, maybe we could integrate it into our society?"
Evbo stays silent.

"Or, I could just take over the world, and force you to stop me. And if I win, then I'll become the new God."

EMF said, shrugging his shoulders.

Evbo laughed,

"Okay, that would be pretty fun."

EMF smiles down at him,
"Yeah, you can see it now. There's always something waiting for us, so we'll never get tired, and there will always be new opportunities, and new challenges, and you'll never get bored. Sure, it'll slow down sometimes, but it'll pick back up, so, don't worry too much, okay?"

Evbo smiles, he couldn't think of anything to say, it's like a huge weight has been lifted off of him,

"Thanks, EMF."

"Anytime."

EMF trembles a little, he looks like he's holding back...as if he has something to say, something important.

"What's wrong?"

EMFs hand starts moving again, his palm caressing Evbos cheek,

"Nothing..."
He says, his voice barely above a whisper, Evbo can't hear a thing, but his touch sends shivers up his spine.

"Whatever happens between us, we'll be okay."

EMF says, his hand resting on Evbos cheek. He sighs, his hand is so warm, and his skin is so soft, Evbo closes his eyes, he's starting to get sleepy.

"You're right, we'll be fine."

"We always will."

"Yeah."

Evbo sighs, he feels like EMF has some ulterior motives with his words, that he's hiding something. But he doesn't care, it's probably not that important. They'll figure something out. He's already been through it all, and there's still a lot more to come. He knows that now, and the thought gives him a sense of excitement, a feeling he hasn't felt in a long time outside of being with EMF. Maybe, just maybe, things will be okay.
