Summary
It’s funny, because for all the time we’ve spent together and all the personal, intimate things I know about his life, his habits, and his responses to extreme stress or imminent death, I feel like I’m missing a lot of the basics about Rocky—like if those extra arms would make him crazy good at juggling. We’ve been too wrapped up in saving our respective planets for stuff like that.
Now, though, there’s nothing but time. Years of it. Enough to make a guy lose his mind several times over if he’s not careful. If I’m interested in something, better make it last. Move over astrophage, there’s a new life-threatening game in town, and its name is boredom.

Summary
On their way back to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover a mysterious box. Upon opening it, the two discover some strange changes. Well, perhaps way more than strange.
Rocky finds a new marking on his arm similar to Grace's scar, and Grace finds markings similar to Rocky's on his arms and legs.
Rocky begins to dream and can easily wake from sleep, and Ryland can stay up for much longer than a normal human should.
Grace starts seeing sound when it's too dark to properly see, and Rocky starts seeing pops of colour in his sound vision.
Neither can understand what's happening to them and how they're seemingly linked together, but they know there's nothing in the world that could tear them apart.

“Hi!” I begin, looking at myself in the mirror. “I’m Grace—Ryland Grace—Ugh, wow. Who are you, James Bond? Okay, start over… I’m Grace. It’s so great to finally meet you! Rocky’s told me so much about you. Like, how you’re Rocky’s mate, and you’re… also made of rock— no. Okay.”
I smack my cheeks a couple of times.
“Come on. Shake it out.”
I make a brrrrrr noise with my lips for a few seconds then clear my throat.
“…”
Come on, Ryland.
“…”
Anything.
“…”
I swear to God, if you ask them if they like jazz.a.k.a. Grace is about to meet Adrian for the first time and is wondering why he can't just... be normal.

“What do you think about your statue?”
My finger freezes on the careful swoop of the “g.” “What, question?” Okay, maybe it’s a little childish to add the “question” bit, but it’s the only way I can think of conveying emphasis right now.
It definitely gets the kids’ attention. “You haven’t seen your statue?”
I have a statue? I glance around the room. Nobody speaks up.
Oh god. I have a statue. Like an actual statue that apparently everyone’s seen except me.
And as if it couldn’t get any worse, “It’s in the middle of the cluster. In the plaza.”
Grace learns that everyone on Erid sees him as a hero. Thankfully, Rocky's there to remind Grace who he really is. Human.
