Daigo was never a fan of crowded places.. in fact he absolutely despises parties, but tonight was prom night one of the only events he did a bit of effort and attended. He never went because he had a date but more because it was mandatory and all his friends went too. So here he was, his back against a wall, rainbow light flashing everywhere and occasionally over him. Loud speakers were playing popular songs that Daigo didn’t really know and everyone was dancing to the beat except him. He did make an effort to dress up a little. He was wearing a dark purple tuxedo with a white button up shirt finished with a dark red tie matching his bandana. He did add his personal touch since the buttons on his tuxedo were skull shaped matching his hair ornaments. On the dance floor he noticed his friend Ken, he was dancing with that pink haired guy from his other school. His name was Ben if he remembered correctly. Not far from Ken was Wakiya and Rantaro, they were slow Dancing and Valt was doing some kind of break dancing? Daigo didn’t know and didn’t care, he just wanted to go home.
Daigo didn’t notice Ken leaving in a hurry. He wished he did though. At one point he decided to get fresh air, the smell of alcohol and perfume of the gymnasium was intoxicating. When he finally opened the big doors and breathed a big puff of cold air, he then heard sniffings below, he looked down. That’s when he saw his best friend Ken. ‘’Ken?’’ Ken jumped a little when he recognized the voice, he quickly tried to regain his composure failing miserably as Daigo sighed. Daigo walked up to him and Sat beside his troubled friend. Daigo looks at his friend and asks ‘’What’S the matter? weren’t you dancing with Ben two minutes ago?’’ Ken Shook his head and raised his puppet Besu ‘’He ditched us for a random girl..’’ he said with a sad look. ‘’i thought we were having fun but guess i was his second choice.’’ Ken said with a sigh. Ken put down his puppets a new tear making its way to his eye, was he that in love with that pink haired guy? Daigo thought to himself but quickly shook away the idea.Daigo was surprised when he heard Ken talking with his actual voice ‘’i thought this year’s prom would be nice since i had someone but it’s just as unbearable as every year.’’ Daigo looks at Ken with an understanding look. ‘’well they do impose us to come even tho we don’t want so i'm not surprised but i have to admit, getting dump by your muse is quite the unpleasant experience.’’ Daigo said in an Understanding tone That made Ken’s Heart beat slightly faster. ‘’What event could that boy have to made you lose your composure, Ken?’’ He asked genuinely curious even though his heart felt a little thigh all of a sudden. Ken let out a long and frustrated sigh ‘’I don’t even know anymore. When i think back i can’t even find him anything that would have made me want to get closer to him.’’ Daigo noded understanding the frustration in Ken’s voice. They both sat in an awkward silence, both of them waiting for the other to talk or say anything. Ken was fidgeting with his thumbs still visibly upset about Ben ditching him. Daigo stood up and extended his hand for Ken. ‘’I know this event may be unpleasant but since we’re both unwanted, would you want to pass this soiree in my presence?’’ Daigo waited for Ken’s answer, who came rather quickly. Ken nodded and stood up. They started walking around school in comfortable silence. Daigo took time to look at how Ken was dressed, he was wearing a light almost white green button up shirt with puffed sleeves, a dark green sleeveless tuxedo, his neck was adorned with a big lemon green bow who matched his eyes, and to finish the outfit he added a lemon green petticoat that somehow matched beautifully with the rest and some plain green pants underneath. Ken even gives small tuxedos to his puppets. Daigo would lie if he said Ken wasn't stunning.
Ken broke the silence ‘’So..Who ditched you?’’ Daigo looked surprised a little but shrugged ‘’no one..my presence was just mandatary.’’ Ken nodded knowing Daigo was genuine. Ken was going to took out his phone but quickly toss it back into his pocket ‘’Everything alright Ken?’’ Ken just nodded his eyes being watery and gave him out, so no something was going on. ‘’do you want to discuss about it..?’’ Ken was unsure if he wanted but seeing the genuine concern in Daigo’s eyes made him agree. They walked toward a bench not far from the school exit and sat there. ‘’so what did that tretore of Ben did this time?’’ Ken looked away a bit ashamed of caring for such a little thing. ‘’well… he officially ditched me for a girl yay…’’ Daigo’s eyes widened slightly, not expecting Ken to act sarcastic at that moment. ‘’oh.. my condolences.. you really loved him didn’t you?’’ Ken noded not able to make out a word right now. They both awkwardly sat there not knowing what to say. ‘’Well he didn’t deserve you.’’ Daigo knew saying that was opening to a dangerous territory but he was willing to risk it if it would make His friend feel better. ‘’If he can’t see what he’s missing by leaving you then he never deserved you in the first instance, you have wonderful quality and you care so much about your friends he’s really a prick to think he can find someone better.’’ Ken looked at Daigo a bit taken aback by the sudden attempt at making him feel better. ‘’You.. really see me that way?’’ Ken asked not to notice the small smile that made its way onto his face. ‘’Of course I think what I said. You are an amazing person Kensuke, and if that moron can’t see it that means he never deserved you.’’
Ken looked away, that silly smile still on his face. Why was he feeling fuzzy inside? Those were just words of comfort from his friend. The awkward silence came back, Daigo looked at his watch and sigh. ‘’two more hours before we can leave this hellhole.’’ Ken giggled at the fact that Daigo called prom a Hellhole. Daigo joined in, admitting it was a little funny. For a brief moment Daigo swears he felt his heart go faster but quickly got his composure back. ‘’What were your expectation when you first went to prom?’’ Ken asked out of the blue. Daigo thought for a moment, ‘’well.. i’ve always wanted to dance with someone but as you can see, I still haven’t find my muse.’’ Ken looked at Daigo with an understanding look. ‘’And what does your perfect girl looks like?’’ Ken asked as he felt a weird squeeze in his heart, it felt wierd. Daigo glanced at Ken And slightly chuckled. ‘’What’s funny?’’ Ken said, frowning like an angry cat. Daigo regains his composure. ‘’Sorry, it’s because it doesn't necessarily has to be girl, it just has to be someone i love..’’ Ken’s eyes widen a bit ‘’Oh, so your not only attracted to girls?’’ Daigo noded ‘’I'm actually pansexual’’ He admitted. ‘’What about you Ken? What type of boy would you want to dance with?’’ Ken almost choked when Daigo asked him that question ‘’W-WHAT? How do- how did you know I didn't like girls?!’’ Daigo giggled. ‘’it’s not that hard to guess and the fact you came to prom with a guy gives it away i guess but also the fact that your a more feminine guy.’’ Daigo explained. Ken Sighted. ‘’Guess the mask is off haha’’ Ken laughed, Daigo joined in and not long after the awkward silence came back.
‘’What song would you dance in if you had a muse?’’ Ken said, tilting his head, as he felt his cheeks slightly warmer than usual. Daigo thought for a moment and slightly smiled ‘’i would definitely choose a song i heard while I was in france what was it called again.. ah- yes i was named On vas s’aimer encore by Vincent Vallière, but if i had to choose a song people could understand it would definatly be Photograph by Ed Sheeran those stood more to me’’ Ken nod visibly agreeing ‘’I had someone but now i'm alone, gosh i wish someone would dance with me again..’’ Daigo agrees, but then an idea sparks into his mind. ‘’Maybe we don’t have to wait for someone, maybe we could-’’ Ken looked confused as Daigo was talking. ‘’We could do what?’’ Ken thought for a moment as the realization hit him. ‘’YOU WANT US TO DANCE TOGETHER LIKE A COUPLE?!’’ Ken exclaims the pink of his cheeks darkening. Daigo realized he may have overstepped. ‘’I mean yes but- if you're uncomfortable with it it’s totally ok. You just got dumped by your ex so.. it’s ok if you don’t want to try’’ Daigo had placed his hands in front of him in a defensive momentum. Ken lowered Daigo’s hands and shook his head ‘’No, no it’S alright I don’t mind, a-actually.. i think i would be a great idea’’
Ken looked at Daigo who was in between shock, fear and exitment. ‘’alright then hem.. what song do you want to dance to?’’ Ken thought for a moment before saying. ‘’maybe casual by chappel roan?’’ Daigo node before getting his phone out and typing the name of the song before placing it on the bench as the music started playing. Ken got in front of Daigo, Ken was taller than Daigo which was somehow funny. Daigo placed a hand on ken’s waist, ken placed his hand on Daigo's shoulder then they stopped for a moment. The music was playing as they looked at each other's hands before carefully intertwining their fingers and slowly starting to slow dance. The music was soft and full of meaningfull words. They look at each other for a moment with some unspoken feelings in their eyes. The stars were out and shining like diamonds. The song started speeding up a little and Daigo managed to make Ken do a little spin and he started laughing. Daigo started smiling and laughing too. Even though the song finished they still danced, Ken slipped and almost fell but Daigo caught him. At that moment their eyes meet and their realised the song ended. Ken could feel his heart going crazy as he felt Daigo’S hands still on his waist. What was going on with him.. Daigo is just his friend. Daigo felt his face heat up and he noticed his hands around Ken’s waist. The boys where froze not really knowing what to do. Daigo spoke first ‘’I- im gonna go grab my phone..’’ as Daigo grabbed his phone he noticed the song lyrics.
As he walks towards Ken who was placing his puppets back on his hands. ‘’Do you want to go for a walk behind the school?’’ Ken asked using his dog puppet. Daigo noded and they started walking around the fenced area. At first they remained quiet not wanting to talk about what had happened with the attempt to dance. ‘’So.. are we gonna talk about.. the dance?’’ Daigo looked at Ken waiting for the boy's answer. Ken shrugged and looked away, his cheek a light shade of salmon. ‘’is it about the song?’’ Daigo was confuse but them remembered the lyrics ‘’oh, no it’s not about that- i was talking about.. you know.. how we danced together..’’ Ken’s face was almost as red as Daigo’s bandana. ‘’It was purely platonic!’’ Ken shouted while ignoring Daigo’s eyes on him. Daigo just stared at Ken, not sure what to say. The otther boy just sighs and lays down on the grass, his long dark flowy hair speading around him like a cloud. Daigo did the same. ‘’Sorry that I yelled’’ Ken looked up as he said that ‘’im just.. a bit troubled right now, not long ago i was enjoying prom and.. don’t get me wrong i loved dancing with you it’s just..i.. i don’t know..’’ ken was trembling a little, he was getting stressed. Daigo did the only thing he could think of and held Ken’s hand in his. Ken jumped at the sudden touch and looked at Daigo with wide eyes, and rosy cheeks.
‘’Daigo.. what are you doing..?’’ Daigo realized how weird his action was and froze ‘’well you were starting to stress out so i thought.. holding your hand would help.’’ Honestly Ken was touched by how caring Daigo was, he alway knew the boy was a softy inside. ‘’that’s.. sweet of you Daigo..’’ Ken admitted, He could see Daigo’s face heat slightly at his comment and Ken gave a gentle squeeze to his hand. ‘’Let's bring the topic of muse for the prom back.. who would you ask out to prom if you had the choice..?’’ Daigo never really thought about it before, it wasn't really something he needed so being asked about it made him think. ‘’i.. never really thought about it before actually..’’ Ken was surprised, but again he knew Daigo well enough to know that Daigo rarely got close or interested in anyone. ‘’really? i know you don’t like people that much but i'm sure there’s at least one person that has caught your eye, no?’’ Daigo sighs and thinks for a brief moment, Clio was nice but far too much into rp stuff, Jin is nice but.. he would probably be sleeping the whole event, Ukyo would probably wonder and scare off random people at the party… Maybe ken? Daigo thought it made sense but why? Ken is just his friend, nothing more, right?
Daigo felt ken’s hand squeeze his ‘’Daigo are you ok? you’ve been awfully quiet since I asked you that question’’ Daigo pause and sigh ‘’it’s nothing i’ve just never really thought about it before, why do you want to know tho?’’ Ken looked at the stars and smiled ‘’I don’t know.. i was just curious that’s all’’ Both of the boys seemed to forget they had their hands intertwined at that moment, Daigo’s eyes widened as he realized something about himself, he had fallen for his best friend. He could try to tell himself it was just casual or platonic. but the only person he could think about at that moment was him. Daigo was lost in his thoughts when he felt Ken poking his shoulder. ‘’you've gone quiet again, what’s on your mind?’’ Ken turned all the way to face Daigo. The boy's hair was falling over his shoulder and over the grass. Daigo took time to look at the boy’s features, it was the first time he noticed that Ken’s eyes were dark green and reflected the stars. while looking at Ken’s eyes Daigo noticed the faint eyeliner mark ken had and he accentuated it with a slight pink eye shadow making his dark eye shine even more, Daigo looked down at Ken’s lips and noticed the glossy look of them so ken wears lipstick huh?
‘’Daigo.. can i be honest with you?’’ Daigo got out of his staring trans ‘’oh- Yeah what is going on?’’ Ken thought for a moment and squeezed Daigo’s hand a bit more ‘’well.. i've been wondering that for a while but.. what are we? I mean, what is our relationship?’’ Ken’s expression saddened me a bit and he looked at the ground and sigh ‘’Forget i said anything it doesn't matter-’’ Daigo shook his head ‘’No, no. I said you could tell me, To be perfectly honest with you.. i think i like you a lot actually..’’ Daigo paused and the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. ‘’so.. what about you? What do you think we are?’’ Daigo inhale ‘’It took me a while to realize it, even though I never noticed it before today but.. I think I may.. like you more than just as friend- My feelings aren’t all untangled yet but.. for now i think i might have fallen for you Ken’’ Ken went silent for a moment, his eyes looking for any hint of joke or lies, but he could feel that Daigo’s words were genuine. ‘’wait.. are you saying that you.. love me.. romantically..?’’ Daigo noded now unsure if he did the right thing but Daigo was always straightforward he didn't like making people wait.
‘’Take your time ken you don’t have to answer right now..’’ Ken thought for a minute.. he already got dumped and if he was honest he was a bit scared to engage into a new relationship, but on the other hand.. he was curious about what kissing his best friend feeled like ‘’well.. I kinda want to try, yes, what do I have to lose?- well maybe our friendship will be over after yes but.. it’s worth trying..no?’’. Daigo’s heart melted at those words ‘’yeah.. i think it’s worth trying too’’ Ken smiled and could feel his cheek heating. ‘’so does that mean we’re a thing now?’’ Daigo thought but quickly nodded ‘’yeah, we are’’ as Daigo said that Ken got a bit closer to him and took Daigo’s other hand in his, now both of their hands intertwined. Both of the boy’s cheeks were a shade of reddish pink and they both had shy smiles on their faces. At one point in their comfortable silence Daigo laid on his back and Ken rested his head on his chest, two of their hands still intertwined. Daigo broke the silence ‘’hey Ken, i know it will sound wierd but.. can i try to kiss you?’’ Ken look up at Daigo and smiled while suddenly placing himself on top of Daigo ‘’took you long enough’’ Daigo didn't care if someone saw them the view of Ken on top of him was mesmerizing, how his long hair were falling around him and how much his face looked beautiful with that shade of red on his cheeks.
Ken felt a gentle hand on his cheek and placed his on top and tilted his head to rest on it ‘’You look beautiful ken’’ Ken looked tenderly at Daigo as he said that and leaned for the kiss. It was gentle and shy. It seemed like none of them had kissed someone before but it was magical for both of them. as they broke the kiss ken got up and brought Daigo with him to the nearby playground ‘’Let’s make this night count.. follow me’’
