Utouto (Sleepy) Fish

Summary:

As Kanata tried to push himself up, he felt something shift on his stomach. Looking down, thinking it was one of his many stuffed animals, he was greeted with bedsheets that weren’t his and another body in the same purple and blue pajama set he was in.

Right, he spent the night in Koga’s dorm.

Or

A short story about Kanata and Koga waking up to start the day based on the new first half off the "At Home" cross scout

Notes:

kanata and koga FINALLY getting screentime where they have to talk and interact with each other. i'm still upset abt how they didn't talk at all during pirate fes but this makes up for it i think. wrote this as celebration in a few hours so it could've been better but i needed to get it out of my system (even if the scout story isn't even out yet its fine)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Kanata noted how quiet the dorms were for once as he woke up. Normally, he would be awoken by Rinne and Hiyori arguing or something loud happening outside his room again usually caused by Rinne. This time, he was awoken by the warmth of the sun on his face and greeted with a pleasant quiet. Likely a side effect of both ALKALOID and Crazy:B being out for some sort of television program.

He didn’t care too much, he was just happy to not have his sleep interrupted slightly early.

He pushed the purple sleep mask up off his eyes, the world around him floating into view as his eyes adjusted to the light. The same Starmony ceiling greeted him like it does every other day as he let out a content sigh. He didn’t want to get out of bed, it was an off day for him and the bed was comfortably warm. No idol work, no aquarium work. He wanted to simply rest the day away, but at the same time he should get up. He didn’t know the time and didn’t want to spend the whole day in bed despite how appealing it sounded.

The gray haired person in question was currently still sound asleep with his arms wrapped loosely around his waist. Kanata decided to simply lay back down after seeing him there. Koga took this opportunity to pull him closer as he buried his face in the other's chest, nuzzling it slightly. Kanata giggled a bit, seeing someone who normally presented himself as a strong lone wolf be so adorable warmed his heart. He shifted around a bit and wrapped his arms around Koga, holding him closer as he began to play with his hair. His gray hair was always messy, he probably won’t mind too much.

Kanata hummed, listening to the other’s soft snores as he rested his chin on top of his head. It was time for both of them to get up. Continuing to play with Koga’s hair, he softly spoke “Koga, its time to ‘wake’ up.”

All he got in response was some incomprehensible mumbles and the feeling of being pulled even closer than before.

Kanata let out a bit of a louder laugh and spoke a little louder, “Kogaaaa, we ‘need’ to ‘wake’ up now.” making sure to drag out the other’s name a bit.

That got him a bit of a louder groan, he was finally awake.

Koga let go of Kanata, pushing himself up slowly as he groggily rubbed his eyes and grumbled out a good morning. Kanata only just leaned onto Koga’s back in response and nuzzled into his shoulder.
Koga sighed in fake annoyance and brought a hand to ruffle the blue mop of hair on his shoulder. “Did’ya just wake me up only for you to go back to sleep fishie…” his sentence trailing off slightly as he spoke with slightly slurred words, not being awake enough to say much else.

Kanata only laughed.

Koga let out a huff and pushed him off so he could stand up. Koga stood up and raised his arms above his head to stretch. Lowering his arms he put his arms in the pockets of his light blue pants as he stood with his normal slouch. Kanata followed, standing up on the other side of the bed and walking over to the couch to grab a light jacket that matched the pajamas they wore. He put it on and grabbed the other one, handing it to Koga who was walking to the couch after putting on some pink slippers. Koga grumbled out a question vaguely about where Kanata managed to find matching pajamas like these as he put it on before putting his hands back in his pocket.

Kanata didn’t grace it with an answer. Instead he looped his left arm around Koga’s right as the two left the dorm room as they made their way to the shared kitchen to prepare breakfast. They had a full day ahead of them after all.
