Work Text:
it was a rainy day and satoru was staring at the window sadly. he turned away and slumped on the nearby ottoman. “what a day..” he exclaimed as he started to take off his black blindfold. as he did, he felt a sharp pain shoot through his head. “stupid six eyes..” he groaned as he slipped the blindfold back over his eyes. he was stupid to think it would feel better hours after because it never is.
he slumped around for a few minutes, trying to make the uncomfortable feeling in his head leave but it never did. he kept complaining about the pain even though nobody was there to hear him because he lived by himself. he taught many students but alas, he was alone. megumi was living with his boyfriend yuuji and he didn’t have a boyfriend of his own. how sad.
he walked over to the sofa which was comfier than the ottoman he was splayed across previously and sat down on it. he man-spread across it and propped his elbow up the on the arm of the chair. he rested his pale cheek in his hand and hummed to himself. “what a boring life.” he said to his imaginary audience. then, he listened to the raindrops fall down the window. he sat there for a few minutes before he began to stir, he was never easy to keep still and even all these years later, he still isn’t. he started to tap his fingers on the arm of the chair before the tapping of the fabric was quickly filtered out by a sudden knock at his door.
he slipped his blindfold off and looked at the wooden clock hung barely on the lifeless wall in-front of him, one am.. “who would come to my house at this hour?” he groaned as he trudged over to the big double doors. “what a pain.” he uttered looking at the floor before he opened the door, rubbing his eyes slightly.
“yeah..? how can i help-“ he looked up to see the one person he thought he was never going to see again. the man was drenched from head to toe but looked at him with a sweet smile and spoke the words, “satoru, how nice to see you.” satoru rubbed his eyes again.. and then again before he came to the conclusion this in fact was not a dream but reality. “what are you doing here?” he questioned angrily, he wasn’t in any type of mood to be dealing with his bullshit. “that’s no way to greet an old friend.” suguru lectured. satoru looked at him baffled before raising his tone. “an old friend?! he yelled before calming himself down with a deep breath. "just go away.." he stated as he turned around and tried to close the door.
“no wait! look, i’m sorry.” suguru pleaded as he pressed the closing door open again. gojo looked at him puzzled before getou looked at him with apologetic eyes. “getou- suguru-“ gojo tried to land on a name to call his ex-best friend, ex-crush, ex-situationship (almost) but he couldn’t figure out what to call him. "what the hell do i even call you now?" he asked annoyed with the man standing at the door, annoyed with the whole day but mostly, he was annoyed with himself. he couldn't believe getou had found him after all these years. it isn't like he was trying to avoid him but he wasn't somewhere someone can easily find. he didn't have any neighbours and lived in a small town. he had big house but most houses here were extravagant so its not like his stood out. "you can call me whatever you want. you can call me getou, you can call me suguru, call me a fucking liar, call me in the middle of the night." getou stated. gojo looked away sadly. "no." is all he could compose, suguru looked at gojo with a raised eyebrow. "no?" he questioned, curious to why he was being denied when he thought he was all gojo ever wanted. "i can't go through that again, suguru. i can't watch you leave." he uttered as he choked back tears and looked away.
getou reached out and cradled his face. unconsciously, satoru warmed into his touch. bitter tears fell from his face as suguru wiped each one away. "i won't leave you." he promised, smiling sincerely as satoru looked up to him. satoru batted his hand away and looked at him with pure hatred in his eyes. "yeah, i've heard that before." he mumbled before turning away. "is that all?" he asked, his hand on the door, ready to close it at any given moment. "please satoru, give me a chance." he begged. he looked to satoru doe eyed and it looked like satoru started to consider it before he spoke again. "i don't trust you and even if i took you back, i fear i never could again." looking directly into his eyes, he stared at him blankly. suguru's lips parted slightly as a tear fell down his cheek.
he reached out to grab satoru by the hand and satoru allowed him. getou cradled gojo's hand in both of his and begged. "please, i need you. i tried to live without you, i tried so hard satoru you don't understand. i did all my duties but nothing ever felt complete without you at my side." satoru looked at him morosely. before blinking harshly and looking inside his home. "you killed so many people. i can't even look at you." he asserted sternly. suguru looked away with more tears in his eyes. "i was stupid, i know that now but please-" he cut himself off and planted a peck on gojo's lips followed by five more. gojo melted into his touch and kissed him back before pulling away miserably. he looked completely drained and the swollen eyebags under his eyes weren't helping either. he looked skinnier than before and considering this was 15 years later, it concerned getou. "stop toying with my feelings suguru. i can't fall in love with you again knowing you'll just leave. it's better for the both of us if we just move on." he asserted as he turned away with a crystal tear drop forming in his sky blue eyes. "goodbye suguru."
before satoru could slam the door shut and cry himself to sleep, a firm hand was pushing it open again. "you were in love with me?" getou asked with a shocked expression plastered across his face. satoru laughed weakly. "i still am." satoru muttered while he stared at the wooden floor beneath his feet. suguru shook his head and spoke again. "look at me satoru." he placed a hand under gojo's chin and tilted it up so they could look at each other. "i promise, i will never leave you." he said sincerely, satoru looked at him with a pouting face and his expression didn't change. "okay." he managed through tears flooding his cheeks (which getou wiped.)
gojo took his hand and lead him inside of his pristine house. the walls weren't decorated and it didn't look like a house of satoru's in the slightest, apart from the pieces of furniture scattered around it was mostly empty. they stepped inside his house and walked to the huge living room that was illuminated by a few small lamps and a fireplace. getou stripped himself of his wet jacket and sat next to satoru on the soft, porcelain sofa. "i-" suguru started before gojo placed his lips on his. they kissed softly and sweetly, it wasn't desperation, it was just gratefulness to get the chance to see each other again. "does this mean you love me again?" gojo asked, still softly crying through his speech. "i never stopped." getou mumbled as he kissed gojo again.
after the kiss getou spread his arms and gojo laid on his chest. "why did you come here?" gojo questioned quietly, almost whisper-like. getou looked down at him with a faint smile. "i missed you, is that so wrong?" satoru smiled back and nuzzled into his neck.
there they lay for the rest of the night, just happy to be in each others embrace.
