The blazing sun shone throughout the city of Tokyo, humid and blistering were good descriptions for the recent days.
Sweat laid wet on the two teenagers’ skin, they panted out breaths as they walked through a shopping center. Limbs shuffling through the hoards of people, giving glares every so often when people stare for a bit too long. Though nothing so different to them due to their dyed hair, eccentric clothing choices, and their impolite loudness.
“Kirara,” Hakari started, pushing back his bleached blonde coils of hair, “was it totally necessary to go out on the hottest day of this month?”
“Yes, Kin!” She whined back, her soft voice holding onto the last consonant of his nickname. “This is basically the only time we don’t have any missions or training or anything!”
Hakari shrugged, admitting truth to her statement. His ochre toned arm wrapped around his girlfriend’s shoulders, their skin soaking in the sun.
She wasn’t wrong at all, for the two young sorcerers, it had felt like forever since they had an outing like this. Due to their ever growing knowledge of controlling their powerful techniques, they were scouted for missions often. This led to more of Gojou-sensei’s interest, resulting in his never ending training sessions and lessons. Which means more notice in them for missions, A continuous cycle.
Kirara’s gaze was currently set upon lavish designer bags, innate and pretty in design. She traced the stitching with her eyes, admiring every detail the product displayed. She sighed,
“I wish being a jujutsu sorcerer made us this kind of money,”
Hakari laughed, hand wiping the sweat off his forehead.
“Damn, me too. Think of all the stuff I could buy you,”
Kirara’s eyes met his, a soft smile gracing her face. Hakari couldn’t tell whether from his comment or the heat, but a blush began to cover her features. Deciding it was from him, he smiled back.
Flustered from the eye contact, Kirara’s sight fell to the floor, searching for something to distract her from Hakari’s glittering eyes.
“Look, that stuff looks cute, doesn’t it?” She exclaimed finally, pointing towards a store full of cute knick knacks and Sanrio merchandise. He nodded carefully, his hands gently tapping Kirara’s. She turned inquisitively and before she knew it, their hands enveloped each other, overlapping and sweaty. Her face grew warmer than it was before, as their hands swung forwards and backwards while they entered a store. She felt almost nauseous from the action.
Their relationship was a recent addition to their lives. Holding hands, kisses, and those small intimate glances were still new to them. It was all something they explored while they weren’t having to be sorcerers. A thing so innocent and perfect compared to the rest of their lives.
A headache plagued Kirara as they continued up the street to more shops. She brushed it off as nothing, cutting lines in food stands to order various sweets.
“Oh my god, Kin! They’re shaped as stars!” She squealed, words slurring together. Her manicured hands squeezed the biceps of Hakari’s. Her observation was of a stand selling star-shaped donuts, covered in various colors of frosting, most likely containing enough sugar to give a heart attack. Though the way her eyes sparkled and her mouth stood agape in excitement, Hakari melted under her touch.
“You want some?” He inquired, his eyes on nothing but her gloss drenched lips. Kirara’s head perked up, wide eyes as her mouth formed a large smile.
“Oh, Kinji, you don’t have to. You spend too much on me!” She giggled, eyes creasing as her smile grew. Though Hakari knew how much Kirara enjoyed his habit of gift giving, the way the stars in her eyes shimmered and the sweeter her voice got, he knew it meant the world to her.
“Come on, I don’t spend half as much as a guy should for a beauty like you.” Hakari chuckled, his larger hand snaked around her wrist, “Let’s go get Gojou-sensei one too, seems like something he’d enjoy,”
Kirara’s hands were left with the sticky residue of pink frosting. She suckled onto her fingers softly, licking away the remaining sweetness with her tongue. A small groan escaped her mouth as her stomach grumbled from the amount of sugar she had quickly digested. Hakari glanced a concerned look towards Kirara. Though she quickly set a faux smile across her face, reassuring the false fact that she was fine. The man just shrugged as he took one final bite of his donut.
The agitation in her stomach grew as they walked in the summer heat. Her enjoyment of the outing continued to decrease, with the overwhelming amount of sweat and the burning sensation of the sun hitting her skin. It began to bother the girl, though she wouldn’t dare notify her partner. She watched as he grew excited over various video games and obnoxiously shared with others about his knowledge of martial arts in a sporting goods store. She couldn’t spoil his
mood with something as silly as her being uncomfortable. His last girlfriends wouldn’t do that.
She shivered from the disturbing thought, or perhaps from the growing tiredness her legs felt. Her mind, reluctant to stray away from the thought of Hakari’s previous relationships, raced towards her appearance compared to them. Sweat streamed down her face as she looked through the reflection across windows to stare at herself. She focused on the way her face was shaped, worrying over the square edges and sharper features. She bit her lip sharply, bruising the soft area. Her eyes moved on towards her body, glaring over her hips and waist. She smoothed her hands over them, as if shaping them a certain way. Kirara was troubled with her appearance. Though she never doubted her self worth, little thoughts perturbed her mind when she hung out with Hakari. Like if she was too masculine than other girls, or if her body wasn’t shaped as femininely as it should have been. Although Hakari never thought those things, her mind was constantly stressed into making sure he never did.
The warmth across her skin hurt, the sensation being everything but nice. It was like her fair skin was so near an oven, crisping her skin up like burnt bread. Even so, she kept that gentle smile on, waving off her feelings of discomfort. It was hard to keep up the act going though, her body shivered and trembled under the pains and her usual enthusiasm was weighed down by the overwhelming sensations. It had been a miracle Hakari hadn’t noticed yet.
As they strolled down the alleys of the shopping center, Kirara’s symptoms grew worse. She stumbled as her vision grew worse and the nausea in her stomach heightened. Blurs of people walked past them, she held onto Hakari for some small support through her illness.
“Kirara?” He asked softly as her eyes fluttered shut due to the burning felt everywhere. “You good?” The urgency in his voice grew, both of his arms went to grab the sides of hers.
“Yeah,” She stuttered out, holding onto the other to stabilize herself. With his larger hand, he held the bottom of her chin, pressuring upwards so her eyes would meet his.
“You clearly aren’t,” Hakari’s voice lowered, a frown settling onto his features. He pressed a palm against her cheek,
“Jesus, you’re burning. Let’s get you something cold to cool you down, ‘kay?”
Kirara smiled, guilty and ashamed of herself for being so pitiful. Though before she knew it, she was knelt over hurling. Hakari’s magenta-hued eyes widened, kneeling down towards her fallen level.
The sweet candy and treats bought by Hakari now laid as gross mush on the floor. Hiccups followed after the girl’s heaves, tears falling to the ground. Her hands swiped up quickly to press away her tears that began to bunch in her eyes. She inhaled sharply, a lump forming in her throat. She couldn’t believe she had made a gross fool of herself on one of their first dates in a long while.
Suddenly a cloth wiped away the remaining throw up on the corner of her lips. Her star pupil eyes lifted up, staring into Hakari’s. A quivering frown was set on Kirara’s face, glistening eyes staring off into the rubble of the floor.
“Kinji, that’s disgusting, don’t,” a hiccup interrupted her sentence, “don’t use your shirt,”
“Shh, it's okay, baby. Don’t worry about it.” he cooed, setting the fabric of his tank top down. He placed the two of his hands to hold her face. She sniffled softly under his touch.
“Kin, I’m so sorry. I know you were having so much fun, and I just had to ruin it. I didn’t mean to, I promise, I didn’t mean to get sick,” she rambled, tears streaming down her face, voice cracking ever so often. His hands began to soothe over her dark hair as he shushed her with a gentle voice.
The sensations of his touches and coos felt like heaven to the girl, her cries became shallow and the tenseness felt through her body, softened. Her hands latched onto Hakari’s arms, trying to hold him closer towards her.
“Come on Kirara, no need to apologize. Let’s get going, and I’ll take care of you, okay?”
She nodded slowly, trembling as he began to pick Kirara up to her feet. As she stood herself up, her body leaned up against the other teenager.
“There you go!” he chuckled faintly, his hand holding onto her waist as they walked together towards one of the various exits.
As they made it to their dorms, Kirara collapsed onto Hakari’s messy bed. The cool air soothed her sunburns. Hakari followed, sitting on the corner of his bed, his eyes glancing over the form of Kirara’s body.
“You doing better?”
“Yeah,” she smiled as she sat herself up, “Thank you so much, Kin.” She threw herself over her boyfriend and held him into an embrace. Though the chilling air coming out of the air conditioners, their bodies (and blankets surrounding them) created a comforting heat. As she pulled away, she stared into Hakari’s features. Her lips parted, examining every pore and ridge of his face. Her hands joined in, caressing the insanely handsome qualities of his face.
They sat like that for a few tense moments, Hakari’s eyes glossing over the lips of Kirara’s and the girl gently patting over his eyes and cheeks. It was as if they were the only two in the world. Slow breaths from the teenagers and the buzzing machinery keeping the air cool, were the only things heard in the room. Kirara’s hands moved slowly upwards towards Hakari’s curls of hair. The sensation hitched his breaths. She ran her hands through the coils, smirking at the pretty curls when separated from the other strands. Her eyes then drew over his eyes. Her face crinkled into another grin, as she softly giggled at the intimacy. Then slowly, their lips met together. Pressing into each other gently and curiously. Kirara’s eyes fluttered shut, her smaller hands lowering towards his neck.
Their lips parted again, and they both took a gasp of breath. Smiling giddy and dorkily at each other.
“I love you, Hoshi Kirara.”
Her heart jumped. Her cheeks began to grow hot from his words. Her eyes darted across the room, flustered and confused. She took a gentle breath in.
“I love you, Hakari Kinji.”
