Isn't that Stupid?

Work Text:

It was a stupid idea.

…A VERY stupid idea.

Here he was, wandering around on the ice-covered part of the planet, because Megatron wanted him to find out if the signal had something of value. That signal never worked, and with all this hail and ice, the signal was buggier in this area.

Starscream wouldn’t be surprised if Megatron just sent him out here to get rid of him for a few hours.

Actually.

That was very plausible.

The snow and ice were getting in between his joints and transformation seams, making him stiff and making it difficult to move smoothly.

The signal wasn’t coming in clearly, not that it ever did, but now that the weather picked up, it was even less clear than before, if that was even possible.

He shouldn’t have bothered; he should’ve given Thundercracker the mission instead. At least that way, if the signal did actually mean something, instead of just not going, somebody would still be checking, and Starscream would be completely untouched by the freezing cold.

He didn’t really have time for that, because Megatron told him to leave immediately, as soon as he got it.

Which was stupid.

Because Megatron is a stupid oaf who didn’t bother to see if the signal was legit.

His chronometer says that it’s been just over a day, and he still hasn’t found anything. At this point, he doesn’t even know where he should be looking. With the signal going haywire and his comms being on the fritz, this might actually become a problem.

Because Starscream has never been so lucky as to never have something go wrong.

His core temperature is below where it should be, and his energon percentage is getting low, if only he had commed in when he had the chance. Knowing his luck, they’d probably tell him off.

As he continues on, the weather doesn’t clear. It almost seems like it’s getting worse, actually. The signal is gone, and he’s not sure what to do. There’s nothing for miles, and it isn’t getting any warmer.

Almost none of his sensors are working anymore; being exposed to the freezing cold and moisture, he feels like he’s practically not moving anymore. He might just go into stasis at this point.

That’s probably the best option; however, he would rather stay online.

Not that being online is doing him any good.

Vaguely, he wonders if they’ve checked his vitals at all while he’s been out or if they’ve tried comming him.

He stops.

He…

Can’t seem

To move.

He slowly lifts his arm up, with as much strength as he can muster, with all the ice in his joints. That’s about as much movement he can make before he falls to his knees.

He cannot believe that he’s being defeated by ice.

What a stupid way to go out.

Notes:

When I wrote this in May, I showed some people, and all of them said I killed him. so. I killed him. He's dead. I would've continued to write another chapter, but, he's dead now.

or... whatever you want to interpret it as. Maybe they found him, and saved him.
Up to you.
