Chapter 1: are you sure it's just a usual sickness?

Chapter Text

Kinich had been going in and out of the bathroom to vomit for the fourth time, but nothing was coming out. This had been happening frequently over the past month and was causing him a lot of suffering.

Ajaw, in his human form, handed Kinich a glass of water and massaged his neck from behind.

He vaguely heard Ajaw asking if he still wanted to continue going to the stadium, and then babbling that he couldn't hear because he felt something coming out of his throat and started spitting out the water he just drank.

After beginning to feel better, Kinich pushed himself to stand and was then assisted by his partner. "Are you sure you can survive in this condition?" Ajaw asked while observing his human.

"It's just normal pain. I'm sure I can still handle it," he replied as he straightened his clothes. Then he turned to look at his partner, who was looking at him with skepticism and let out a soft snort.

"Hah... fine. But don't get angry at me if I do it first because of your condition," he said. He then transformed himself into a pixel dragon and approached Kinich. The two of them exited the bathroom to get ready.

Ajaw, Kinich, Mualani, Kachina, the Traveller, and Paimon, were gathered, waiting for the Archon to arrive at the Weary Inn with the others.

While the others chatted and threw jokes and sarcasm (Ajaw's), Kinich simply observed them as a sudden buzzing in his ears and pain in his head suddenly took over.

He started massaging his temples and felt the pain in his stomach again. Immediately, he covered his mouth with his other hand to hold back whatever was about to come out of his throat, except for the sound of him holding back the pain.

He felt Ajaw's small pixel hand massaging his temple as he released his hand on his temple, and Kinich realized that his friends were looking at him with concern.

"Kinich, are you alright? You look unwell," Mualani asked.

Kinich simply nodded his head and released the hand on his mouth.

"I'll be okay," he responded. "Let's just head home, Kinich," Ajaw said. "You might pass out after this," he added with a hint of concern, and the others nodded in agreement.

As the Archon and the others arrived and walked to the table where they were gathered, Kinich shook his head. He tried to stand up, but his body suddenly weakened, causing him to fall as he attempted to hold himself up.

The last thing he remembered before losing consciousness was the sound of people screaming his name, the hand that held onto him as he fell, and the strong scent of smoked woods mixed with a sense of security—Ajaw's.

His eyes slowly opened to see the ceiling of one of the inn's rooms. On both sides of the bed were Ajaw in his human form and a doctor, who was checking on him as he regained consciousness.

Kinich felt his mate's hand helping him lean against the headboard of the bed.

"Hello, Kinich. I am the doctor sent by the Archon," the doctor introduced herself.

Kinich nodded, and the doctor continued, "Although your mate already explained the previous condition, I wanted to know if you are feeling okay right now."

"Yes, I feel a lot better than before," he answered, "Was I that sick?" he asked again. The doctor shook her head. "No, it's very normal since you are now carrying two lives inside you."

Ajaw's body froze, and then he looked up at the doctor in front of him.

"Repeat," Ajaw pleaded.

The doctor smiled softly as if she was used to such reactions.

"Kinich is pregnant, with two children inside him," the doctor repeated.

Kinich frowns, "But, I'm an alpha?"

The doctor nodded in understanding, "Yes, you're an alpha with a womb due to the effects of your enigma mate."

"You are still an alpha, but suddenly having a womb is nothing new for those who have been mated by an enigma," she explained in more detail. The silence was heavy in the room.

The doctor finally left the room, as if giving them time to think about this first.

'Even the doors weren't closed tightly, so we knew we were being watched,' Ajaw thought. Then he focused on Kinich, who had been silent since being told about his unexpected pregnancy.

On the other hand, Kinich's eyes trembled in shock, his hand clumsily landing on his stomach.

'Two children are growing here,' Kinich thought as he tried to calm himself down.

It was a lie if the alpha wasn't surprised by the changes in him since becoming the dragon's mate, and he didn't mind at all because it didn't change anything about him. After all, he still Kinich.

Even after finding out that he was pregnant, he still him and accepted his two bundles of joy with full confidence. He didn't mind becoming a "mother," "papa", or anything they want to address him, but he was unsure if Ajaw would accept them so suddenly. Many questions and doubts murmured in his mind.

But his doubts were quickly dispelled when he felt a hand stroking his stomach awkwardly but gently, and he lifted his head to see Ajaw, who was looking at him with the same acceptance.

Ajaw smiled, "We can ask for a guidebook since it's our first time."

Kinich's eyes watered with relief and nodded softly.

"Yes."
