Chapter Text
AJ was used to pain
But not this time.
The pain he felt was unbearable.
Perhaps that's why he shambled over to the clinic and threw the door open before slamming it behind him.
Luckily, those who worked at the clinic weren't there... They weren't in sight to torment him at least.
As AJ scurried around the medical office, the door opened and he froze for a few seconds.
"AJ?" A gentle-sounding voice yawned. They sound tired.
AJ stiffly turned to face Marion who was standing in the doorway, the knob still in her hand as she dumbly stared.
"Mari." He grumbled, turning back to the cabinet he was looking through as pain shot through his body, nearly sending him to the ground.
Marion closed the door behind her and walked over. Medication of all kinds were in the cabinet.
AJ scrambled to grab a bottle before the blue-haired woman could see it.
Marion had cleaned the clinic nearly everyday, it would be strange if she didn't know where every medication was in those cabinets.
"Why'd you grab that?" She asked, taking the bottle in her hand as pain continued to bubble in AJ's body like boiling water.
As Marion looked over AJ, she noticed the obvious discomfort on his face yet he was not hurt in any way.
Marion turned the bottle to see the label that AJ so desperately tried to hide from her view before quietly looking back up at him through her bangs.
"Why do you need painkillers? From what I can see, you're not hurt."
So, Marion was going to make him say it aloud.
AJ clutched his fists and tried to grab the bottle and missed by Marion lifting her arm so it was across her chest.
Marion stared at him, expecting an answer.
"...mps..." AJ grumbled under his breath, barely loud enough for her to hear. Marion didn't budge.
Dammit.
AJ swallowed his pride. "Cramps." He finally admitted. For the first time today, the pain subsided. He knew that relief wouldn't last long but he enjoyed it while it lasted.
Marion took hold of AJ's wrist, lifting it up as his hand untensed with a little bit of pressure on his pulse point.
With his hand open, Marion placed hers atop of his, setting the painkillers back in his hand.
"Need anything else?" She asked as he stared at the small orange bottle that he came for.
