Secret Confession

Summary:

Remus hasn't told his friends he's a werewolf, and he's starting to run out of time. He's already been making plans to move in with James after their seventh year, he's at least got to tell him
Written for Moonchaser Week, Day 6. "I'll always love you"

Notes:

This is set in a universe where Remus hasn't told the others he's a werewolf and they somehow haven't actually figured it out (it doesn't make any sense, no but plot)
I do not support Joanne Rowling, I do not support he actively harmful, and occasionally factually incorrect views. This was not written in support of JKR or her views. She can go fuck herself.
I am mildly dyslexic, and wrote this while suffering from lose of inspiration, so I can't promise it's actually any good. Still,
Enjoy :)

Work Text:

Remus was getting ahead of himself. Their sixth year was coming to an end, he had no reason to be planning a future with James yet. James didn't even know the full him! He couldn't guarantee James would still care for him, let alone want to live with him, when James found out his secret.

Really, Remus was a little shocked it hadn't come up. He disappeared on a schedule, and despite appearances, his friends were smart. Maybe they just didn't want to make the connection, and really he didn't care what their reason was.

Remus was only thinking about it all because James was currently looking through the house listings in the newspaper. They were the only two in the dorm room, Sirius was pulling a prank on his own, and Peter was in the kitchen baking something they could only assume would be delicious. It wasn't like they needed to have a home until the end of seventh year, but James wanted to keep an eye out in case they found the perfect home.

"James," Remus said suddenly, cutting off his rambling about house prices.

"What's up?" he asked, resting the newspaper between them on his bed.

"I don't know how to tell you," he said, taking a deep breath. James reached over the newspaper and grabbed his hands.

"You can tell me anything Remus," James said seriously. Remus smiled slightly at him and nodded. He took a deep breath and thought it through.

"I'm scared that if I tell you this," he started, trailing of slightly. James didn't push him to finish his sentence, he just that there waiting patiently. He let Remus go at his own pace, and he appreciated James for that.

"If I tell you this you might not want me anymore," Remus finished, looking away from James. James removed one of his hands from Remus' light grip, and rested it against his cheek. Gently, he coaxed Remus to look back at him.

"Whatever it is Remus, I'll always love you," James said. "That's a promise," he added. Remus snorted slightly. He doubted that, but he appreciated it anyway. James let him sit there in silence, let him think through it. Remus took his time to think it through. He wanted to tell James, he sort of needed to tell James, he was just scared of saying it.

"I'm a werewolf," he finally said. James smiled at him slightly and nodded.

"I know, thank you for telling me," James said.

"You knew?" Remus asked. James nodded slightly.

"I knew, and I was waiting for you to tell me," he confirmed. Remus pulled back slightly, but didn't let go of James' hand. James knew and he was still dating him anyway.

James knew, and he was still planning a future with him.

Remus laughed slightly. He'd been so worried about it. And for no reason what so ever.

"Do the others know?" Remus asked. James shrugged slightly.

"If they do they haven't talked to me about it," he said. Remus nodded. He preferred it that way. He'd tell them in his time, and he'd have James at his side.

Notes:

I wrote this with no plan, but I like it. I liked writing it, and I think I like how it turned out. I hope you liked it! If you did, maybe consider leaving a comment. Perhaps about something you liked, or perhaps something nonsensical. All interactions are greatly appreciated it.
