Work Text:

If he knew that coming along would’ve gotten him stuck with the most annoyingly, apathetic, piece of shit on the planet, Red would’ve never come along. He never would’ve done anything with the man next to him. But he always says that, so maybe it’s about time he gives in and just accepts that he’s gonna be fucked over for the rest of his life.

That might do him some good.

“Well we’re trapped alright,” Ash huffed, he leaned against the walls over the cavern and glanced over to Red with a smug smile. “By the way, I blame you for this,” he said pointing over to him.

“What!? I’m not the one who decided to test motherfucking explosives ,” Red hissed gesturing over to the part of the cave where it well–caved in.

“What? You wanted to see what they could do and I was just providing my services,” Ash said matter-of-factly. He was having fun with this wasn’t he?

…seriously fuck this guy.

“Yeah, I said once we got out . Does it look like we’re out of the cave to you!?”

Ash looked around the cave for a moment before looking back at his torch. “Well at least we got light,”

“I fucking hate you,”

Ash scoffed and walked over to him, sitting down at his feet until Red sat down with him. Backs both against the rocky walls as Ash began tapping the floor of the cave. “How long do you think it’ll take before someone will find us here?” Ash asked.

“I don’t know, if we’re lucky Parrot will find us soon enough, you told him where we were going right?”

“Nope,” Ash replied, popping the ‘p’.

“Ah, well that might be a problem,” Red muttered in response

“No shit Reddoons,” Ash hissed, he hated it when Ash used his full name. It sounded so formal , so unlike him.

“Hey, I’m not the one who was suppose to tell him,”

“Alright, whatever. Just drop it already” Ash huffed, hitting the back of his head on the wall and hissing at the pain, really what was he expecting? Truly he was an enigma of some sorts. Ash sighed and seemed to be staring off somewhere in the distance. Red personally was more than happy to have it left at that but apparently Ash had other plans.

“How much air do you think we have left in here?”

Red choked a little and looked over towards Ash who was smiling smugly. “What the fuck!? ” Red hissed, grabbing him and Ash laughed, holding his hands up with a roll of his eyes.

“Relax, I’m just fucking with you… for the most part,”

“If we suffocate in here I’m haunting you,”

“I’d be dead,”

“I don’t care, I’m gonna haunt your ghost,” Red stated, letting go of Ash and instead poking his chest.

“Alright, sorry sorry. But moving on do you think that this’ll be enough,” Ash asked, he looked over to Red.

“For the king?”

“Yeah, like do you think that the explosions were big enough and shit, to cause a diversion. Cause like- I don’t know if it’d be best to cause damage at the parade and stuff,” Ash stated and Red nodded.

They were planning to overthrow the king, someone who hated hybrids and those different from ‘regular’ people, and well everyone from lifesteal… they were just people who hated him and got together wanting to overthrow him. They were planning to attack during the parade with Ash setting off diversions while Clown, Parrot, Spoke, and Red were going to be the ones to go to his room and well…

Off with his head.

“I think it’ll be enough, but yeah probably should keep damage to a minimum, we don’t want innocent people getting hurt in the crossfire,” Red reasoned. “Besides, we’d look like the bad guys if we killed a bunch of people having nothing to do with the king,”

“We’d look like the bad guys anyways, we’re hybrids Red. Maybe you and a few others can pass as a ‘normal’ human with a few things but others-”

Ash.

“-can’t”

Red bit the inside of his cheek. Ash was right, after all just take one look at the damn guy and who knew he was different, his voice glitched every now and then and there were patches of pixels literally his skin and fading in and out of reality.

Hiding wasn’t really an option when you stood out so much.

“I don’t think I’d wanna pass as ‘normal’ human, I quite like being fire resistant,” as if to make his point he stuck his hand in his torch and watched as Ash sighed, not seeming to care for his small theatric.

“Yeah yeah, whatever stupid bitch,” Ash huffed he sighed and pressed his knees to his chest watching his own torch as it slowly began dwindling. “We should probably try to find a way out of here soon though. I’m running out of light,” Ash muttered as he got up and Red followed him as they began walking around the cavern.

Dead end to dead end to dead end.

It was impressive how many dead ends a singular place could hold honestly.

“I think we’re really stuck,” Ash huffed, sitting down and Red did the same with him. Staring at where they came in with a rather pissed off expression.

“Yeah, fuck this sucks,” Red muttered sitting back down, Ash tossed his burnt out torch to the side and did the same, leaning on Red lazily as he stared at the caved in bit of the cavern.

Ash pressed in closer to Red and soon enough they found themselves laying down beside each other. “When do you think Parrot will notice that we’re missing?” Ash huffed in annoyance.

“I don’t know, I mean. You pull shit like this all of the time so it might be a while, man,” Red sighed, he stared up at the ceiling of the cave rubbing his shades a little before deciding to take them off.

“Well shit, it might be a while then don’t you think?” Ash laughed dryly and Red nodded.

“Yeah, it might be,”
