Work Text:

When I awoke I had no idea what time of day or night it was. I was resting on my alpha’s chest, my head pillowed on his chest. When I tilted my head up to look at him I saw his eyes were closed, his face completely relaxed.

He looked gorgeous like that, completely calm, no thoughts to plague his mind. His pheromones were freely flowing out of his glans, filling the room with his scent.

I wanted to do the same, to allow mine to waft in the room with his, for our pheromones to intertwine. But I didn’t want to intrude on his den, to infiltrate it with my scent. So I kept it in.

I don’t know how long I layed there, just admiring his face. God he was ethereal, he was one of the most perfect people I had ever seen, not that I had seen many people, but still.

It felt like I was laying down on him for an eternity waiting for him to open his eyes. I basked in his warmth, his arms encircling me in a protective embrace.

As I looked up from the cushion of his chest once again, I expected to be met with the same sight of his eyes resting. But instead I found his hazelnut eyes gleaming back at me. But instead of a smile on his face like I was becoming accustomed to, I saw a furrowed brow and a slight pout(?)

“W-what’s wrong?”

I couldn’t stand to see that expression on his face, he should never make that face, not with me. I was supposed to keep him happy and satiated, but it seems I failed at that, my one job. He kept staring at me solemnly, before slowly, carefully, replying

“Why do you contain your pheromones from me? Do you not feel safe here in my den?”

“Oh my goodness no! I adore your den, I just didn’t know if you would be comfortable with me injecting my scent into your area…”

That seemed to relax him all at once, I guess I must’ve done something right.

“How could I not want to smell you? I’ve waited my whole life to have a mate I could scent, I would like nothing more than to smell your scent.”

Oh

After spending my whole life surrounded only by my mother and father’s pheromones, I hadn’t realized just how much one could start to yearn for them. I couldn’t imagine living without their scents as a constant reminder of the comfort and family with me, he must think I do not see him as being my new family.

But that could not be further from the truth. As much as I loved the constant reminder of safety that came from them, their combined scents being all I knew started to become tiring, I was bored of that being all I knew and started to spend more and more time in my bedroom, away from their pheromones.

This scent though, the smell of oranges and the beach was nothing like I’d ever smelled before. And I couldn’t get enough of it, I felt like an addict, and I don’t think I could survive going cold turkey.

I realized I spent much longer than I thought zoning out, staring into nothing as he looked back at me, me looked like he was waiting, waiting for me.

As I refocused my vision back onto him I gazed up at him, into his eyes that seemed to harness the golden glow of the afternoon sun, those features that could never hold any anger towards anything, laced with serenity.

I slowly let my pheromones flow out, the smell of sweet vanilla pods and fresh coconut fruit.

Our two scents both having tropical undertones meant that they complimented each other in the most soothing way.

Our combined pheromones wafted through his den, I looked back up at him worried. I knew I already loved our two scents together, but what if he didn’t? What if it wasn’t good enough for him? What if he was disgusted by the combination?

But as I scanned his eyes, looking for any sign of discontent, I could find no sign of such emotion. His eyes seemed to glow even brighter, elation crossed his face and it made the most beautiful expression. I knew alphas weren’t supposed to be called beautiful, instead preferring more masculine descriptions, but it was the only one that suited him. It was the only word that could capture his natural beauty, and even that, didn’t seem like enough.

I had only known him for 12 hours at the most, but I was already hooked, I don’t know if I could survive being taken away. I didn’t even need to verbally ask him if it was good enough, the look on his face was more than enough.

Our eyes closed as he leaned his head down onto my neck, rubbing our scent glands together. It was the best feeling of my life. My body knew this was what I had been waiting for my whole life, a feeling of calm took over my body, over my mind, no longer could I think about anything else but what was happening between me and my mate. This is what I spent my life, sitting on my bed, yearning for.

My alpha, Vincent.
