“Chatty, Chatty, Chatty” Ray squealed, running into their shared bedroom at the funhouse. Chatterbox was sitting up in their bed, his head resting against the wall, blanket sitting across his waist.
“Cups, Cups, Cups” he replied just as enthusiastically matching her energy. She proceeded to dive onto the bed letting out a laugh.
“Tessa messaged me and guess what she told me?”
“Don’t know, Cups. Why don't ya tell me” Chatterbox replies raising his eyebrow, what could Tessa possibly message about that would make her this yuckin’ excited in the morning.
“She told me they have pets in stock, I NEED ONE” She practically yelled the last part, all the excitement causing her body to shake and seemed like it was about to explode.
“We can go look, after we get dressed, '' Chatterbox replied, looking at the both of them in their pyjamas. He would do anything for her. Ray practically zoomed to the closet and pulled out an outfit for herself and one for Chatterbox, she threw Chatterbox's at him just as he stood from the bed. He grabbed the material before it could hit the floor.
“What the yuck, Cups” he screeched, causing Ray to laugh.
“Hurry up”
The couple walked hand in hand into the new pet store in Paleto, Ray's eyes lit up seeing the full shop. She had seen it before everything arrived in the city. Now seeing the shop so full of life made her more excited.
“What should we look at first?” Chatterbox asked to draw her out of her daze.
“I don't know” Ray replies looking into Chatterbox honey coloured eyes “everything” Ray looked around unsure of what she wanted to look at first.
“Why don't we start at the front and make our way to the back” Chatterbox suggested, causing Ray to smile up at him.
“That's such a smart idea, Chatty” Ray then dragged him from the entrance to the closest pet she could find, which was some bunnies right in the middle.
“Look at the cuties” Ray let go of Chatterbox's hand and knelt down to get a better look at the 3 bunnies that were in the glass enclosure, a brown, white and black bunnies were huddled together.
“Hiccups, Chatterbox Hi” the sweet voice of Sooty drew the couples attention away from the baby bunnies.
“Sooty” Ray jumps up eagerly, the atmosphere of the day is filled with joy, it's radiating everywhere.
“Are you getting a pet?” Sooty asked the couple. Looking at them and then at the bunnies behind them.
“Maybeee” Chatterbox replies in a whiny voice.
“Don’t mind him, I'm looking for the perfect pet”
“I hope you find the perfect pet Hiccups” Sooty replies and they part ways, she was also looking at all the animals.
“Are we really getting a yucking pet?”
“Of course we are, I want one so badly. Maybe I can get Yuno to buy me one” Ray rambled as they walked hand in hand to the next animals.
The next animals they come across are the guinea pigs, Ray knelt down in front of their enclosure, trying to spot them "I don't see them Chatty" She pouted up at him.
"They're probably hiding, new environment and a lot of people" Tessa's sweet voice told her, Ray looked towards Tessa still pouting.
"I guess they aren't for me then" Ray stated, standing up. "I wish I could see their cuteness"
"Onto the next" Chatterbox added dramatically, making her giggle.
"Are you getting a pet Tessa?"
"Not today sweetheart, I'm here to answer any questions people had"
"I have a question" Ray piped up, her grey eyes sparkling with interest.
"Ask away"
"What animal should I get? What fits my personality?" Ray asked, she was indecisive on what pet would really suit her, she hoped Tessa would know.
"A reptile maybe"
"A yucking reptile" Chatterbox spat out in surprise, picturing her holding a snake.
"Not a snake, Chatterbox" Tessa laughed at his outburst.
"What kind of reptile?" Ray asked, intrigued now more than ever. "I once had a pet rock, his name was Rocky. Yuno bought him for me"
"A yuckin' rock?" Chatterbox spluttered out, surprised by his girlfriend's choice of pet. "Are you sure you want an upgrade?"
"What does that mean Chatty?" Ray asked, turning towards him her arms folded over her chest, her eyebrow lifted in question.
"Nothing, Nothing. Just that a rock is different compared to any other pet"
"You don't think I know that, Rocky was the only thing available at the time and Yuno offered to buy me him"
"Let's go look at the yucking reptiles, Tessa" Chatterbox wanted to stop anything before it turned into a full blown fight. He also didn't want to ruin her happy mood she had earlier.
"Okay" Tessa replied softly, looking between the two of them and then she turned around and started to go towards the back of the store, where a bunch of tiny enclosures were seen piled ontop of each other.
"Oh my" Ray squealed, looking around at all the different types of baby reptiles.
"These here are leopard geckos" Tessa smiled as Ray looked down into the enclosures, her face just about squished against the glass. "These ones next to are blue tongue skinks" Ray moved towards the blue tongue skink. "Lastly here are the bearded dragons"
Ray looked in awe at the baby bearded dragons, one looked straight at her and tilted its head to the side. "I need that one" Ray pointed towards the bearded dragon that had tilted its head at her.
“We can get you an enclosure and all the lights, set it up and come back tomorrow once the temperate are accurate and you can get him” Tessa told her. She was someone that knew a lot about animals, especially reptiles.
“I need that one though Tessa” Ray pointed to the small red baby dragon “Because it tilted its head at me. So cute”
“They are so cute,” Teresa agreed. “I'll hold him for you. I'll meet you at the counter with all the stuff in about 10 minutes”
“Thankyou Tessa, I'm so excited”
“Yes, Thankyou Tessa”
“Oh shush Chatty, you'll love him once he's home”
“He needs a name, Chatty”
Ray proclaimed as she walked and walked and walked in circles around their bedroom. Chatty's eyes followed her, never taking them off of her as she spun and spun.
“What names do ya like, Cups?”
“Mushu, Toothless, Beardie”
“You can't name it yuckin’ Beardie, Cups”
“But it fits with Rocky”
“You're not naming it Beardie”
“Fine” Ray pouts, stopping her circling, folding her arms over her chest. “Well what should his name be then, Chatty? since you have a strong opinion about Beardie”
“Where did Toothless come from?”
“There's this movie that's about a guy who decides to befriend a Dragon, he names the dragon Toothless. The guys name is Hiccup”
“Is that how you thought of Hiccups?”
“Noooo! You know it's cause of my Hiccups”
“Toothless it is”
“Really!?” Ray asked excitedly.
“Now come to bed”
“Fine” Ray giggled, jumping onto the mattress and crawling over to where Chatterbox sat on top of the covers. She slowly crawled over towards him and lowered her body on top of his, enveloping him into a hug. He laughed and wrapped his arms around her neck.
“Love ya, Cups”
“Love you too”
Tessa had come by in the morning and checked to make sure all the temperatures were set correctly, she helped them set up a timer for the lights to automatically go on and off every 12 hours. She also came with live bugs.
Tessa drove Ray to the pet store as Chatterbox got pulled away for some clown bullyuck.
“I'm so excited for Toothless to come home, Thankyou Tessa”
“You’re welcome, Hiccups. Good choice for a name for your beardie”
“You like the movie?”
“Oh yea I love the movie”
Bringing the beardie home in the small cardboard box, it scuffled about in the box but she didn't want to take him out while they were in the car, too scared he would jump about the moving vehicle.
As soon as Ray got Toothless settled into the enclosure Ray opened her phone, bouncing with excitement. Toothless looked at her tilting his head to the side, eyes trained on her as she circled the room, trying to ground her energy the best she knew how in that moment.
“Chatty, Chatty, Chatty”
“Cups, Cups, Cups”
“When will you be homeeee”
“Soon, hopefully. If we can get away from this yuckbag offipers”
“You better get away from the offipers. Toothless is here and he's so cuteeee”
“I'll be back as soon as I can Cups”
Ray picked up the baby beardie, putting him to her chest, she ran her fingers up and down his back. “I love you so much already, Toothless”
“Cupssss”
She heard his footsteps on the steps, smiling brightly at him being home.
Chatterbox entered their bedroom to see his love laying on the bed, covers over her legs and the red bearded dragon on her chest. Her eyes met his in the doorway, he could see the sparkle from excitement in her eyes and from the smile on her face.
“Come meet the little guy” Ray coaxed him over either her finger.
“He is red”
“Your favourite colour”
“And yours”
Chatterbox lay next to her on their shared bed, she passed the dragon over to him. He was unsure at first if he wanted to hold it, it was so tiny. Ray lay her head on his shoulder, patting Toothless as he lay on Chatterbox's chest.
