Work Text:
Theo and Liam are very different people, total opposites. Theo is a very calm and calculated person, never letting himself falter even under pressure. He stays perfectly still most of the time, even when he seems to be in discomfort, he's actually completely cozy in his own space unless threatened.
Liam on the other hand, he cannot sit still. Like at all. He always has to be doing something, moving, anything as he tries to focus, like chewing on his lip or the eraser part of his pencil, fiddling with his calloused fingers or tapping his foot. Even whilst studying he just walks back and forth in his room, having too much unspent energy.
Most of the time Theo would take him on a run through the forest to drain that energy, or through very… physical activities that leave the bottom fully worn out.
But you can't do that in the middle of a pack meeting can you? Or inside the truck?
That's why most of the time he just lets Liam fiddle with his hand, or use it himself to hold his fidgety hands down. His hands are free to use for Liam.
This was the current case, Theo keeps his eyes on the long road but steals glances at Liam in the passenger seat, being the usual passenger princess he is. He'd mention it but Theo teased him about it enough. Besides, can you blame him for stealing glances at his boyfriend? He practically drools at the sight of Liam staring out the window, tapping his foot impatiently as the streetlights shine on his face each time they pass by one. Like he didn't already look angelic. Theo could admire him all day without getting bored, letting his thoughts wander.
“Could you drive any slower?” Liam huffs out, turning to Theo and catching him staring. Now Theo’s unfortunately snapped out of his thoughts and turned back to the road. “Do you want me to crash when the roads are wet?” He retorts with a raised eyebrow. Theo always had a comeback. Liam knew it.
He sighs and crosses his arms, “I just want to get this over with, we've been stuck in this truck for over an hour.” Does he always have to complain? Theo thinks.
“Don't blame me, blame the traffic,” He responds, turning to Liam as he stops in the overbearing traffic and notices his usual habit of fiddling with his fingers and tapping his foot, “And relax, we’ll get there soon… only another hour.”
Liam audibly groans at that, looking away and Theo just smiles at that. He brings his hand over his kicking knee and gently holds it, stopping the repetitive motion. “Seriously, relax, you're about to jump out of your seat.” He adds, causing Liam to turn back to him and sigh softly, knowing he's right.
When he notices the slight tension leave his body, he takes Liam’s fidgety hands in his own and intertwines their fingers. He keeps his eyes on Liam, also aware of the unmoving traffic before them as people continue to honk at each other, but Theo tuned his hearing to just listen to Liam’s heartbeat and his breathing as it all slowly calmed down.
“I can't control my impatience,” Liam starts, “But I can.” Theo finishes for him and they both know it's the truth. When Liam got too angry, Theo would calm him down. Too frantic and reckless, Theo pulls him out of trouble. Liam once told Scott that Theo was his responsibility, but it kinda seems like the opposite at this point.
Liam rolls his eyes but cracks a smile anyway, watching as he starts kissing over his calloused knuckles, causing a shiver to run through him. Theo, of course, notices that and takes it as a good sign. Liam was always physical, but he melted every time Theo returned it.
The Chimera trailed his lips up his fingertips next, kissing each one and noticing how Liam’s knee slowly stopped moving and just leaned closer to his touch. He smiled softly and held Liam’s blue gaze. “How easy it is to calm you down, sweetheart.” He said, Liam’s response being a soft sigh and squeezing his hands. Theo simply chuckles and kisses his palms, then turns back to the road as the traffic starts moving again.
But he continues to hold Liam’s hand, stroking over it gently and watches Liam at the corner of his eye fiddle with it. “Just keep driving.” Liam nudges him and Theo does just that, smiling back softly. It's gonna be a long ride to the resort, but he's stuck with his favorite person, so he's definitely not complaining.
