Chapter 1: Memories

Chapter Text

He hated school uniforms,

they were always itchy, way too big and the fact that he couldn't tie a tie wasn't helping his already great relationship with them. Sure, Izuku did start preparing himself for the feeling of a new school uniform before the entrance exams even began, but now? Now it was April and he was standing outside of UA, the top hero school, trying to make himself look at least somewhat normal.

But he wasn't normal, he was sweating way too much and he really wasn't sure if it was because of the temperature going up rapidly or if it was his anxiety telling him to turn around and go home. He fiddled with his tie once more before gathering up all his courage and stepping through the halls of his dream school.

All the doors he crossed were huge, probably to accommodate the students with mutation quirks or disabilities, it was weird seeing a school that was actually supportive, after all he hasn't seen any in his life yet and he couldn't be sure that UA was the same behind this mask of posters and big doors. God what was this obsession with big doors he suddenly had? It seemed like the hallways would never end, he walked past so many classrooms he lost count, at first there was class 1-A, that's where Kachaan is. Even if he hadn't been told that for the past two months he'd still know from the yelling coming out of that classroom.  He was also pretty sure he saw Eraserhead in a sleeping bag, laying on the floor, but that must've been the sleep deprivation talking. There were a few empty classrooms after that, English, Biology and other normal highschool subjects you'd expect. Then there was class 1-B, not as loud as 1-A but still too overwhelming to be near for too long, and after thousands more of empty classrooms he reached one with actual, quiet people in it.

The big sign above the door read 1-C in bold red letters. The font looked aggressive but considering how quiet the students were it looked fine, for now. Izuku walked in, his knees shaking as he took step after step, causing him to almost fall down onto his face due to his stability completely leaving, walking out the big blue door. After NOT falling down he walked towards the seat his acceptance letter marked as his, the one in the front by the window, right in front of the teacher.

Great.

To say that he had bad relations with teachers in the past was an understatement, sure, the elementary and kindergarten teachers were never mean to him, but telling the other kids he was fragile and weak just because of his lack of a quirk also wasn't the best behavior an adult could show towards a child, and then there was his middle school teacher, god that asshole would not just leave him alone. He wouldn't let him do his school work, eat lunch or even leave some days, so now, as he sat in a classroom, at UA, in front of the teachers desk he felt like a small kid again, except the monster wasn't under the bed now.

As the bell rang one more purple haired kid walked through the door and the class turned even more silent than it was before. All the students patiently waited for the hero that'd be teaching them for the next four years, excitement and worry shining in their eyes.

Izuku himself was more than worried, but all that anxiety disappeared as the doors flew open with a loud “YEEEEAAAAHHHH” ringing through the classroom. Their teacher was Present Mic? Hizashi Yamada, also known as Voice Hero: Present Mic, is a Pro Hero who's an English teacher at U.A. High School, and now class 1-C´s homeroom teacher. Izuku's homeroom teacher.

His heart started racing slower as the blonde made his way towards the front of the room, a smile on his face. Izuku knew Present Mic, not personally of course, although he did talk to him on the suicide hotline some time ago, but he doubted the man would remember. He was always one of his favorite heroes, though he rose to the second spot after the incident with All Might, and that night of course. He allowed himself to take a breath and listen to what his teacher had to say.

“Alright kids, for those of you who don't know me, Im Present Mic or Mr. Yamada! I'm going to take attendance and if you want to say a fun fact about yourselves while I do so you're more than welcome to!” The man yelled, taking up his notebook and reading the names off of it, a few kids said their favorite colors or animals, others mentioned their quirk or hobbies, and a few didn't say anything. After the quiet purple haired kid it was Izuku's turn, he wasn't sure what to say when his name was called, so he stood up, begging his shaking legs not to give up on him, and let his mouth open, hoping for something to come out. And something did.

Hi, I play the guitar. I like cats, the color red and I'm quirkless.”

Chapter Text

Hizashi was very excited to meet his new class. For the past four years he had been teaching a wonderful group of kids, three of them had transferred to the hero course and he of course helped them with it, but the ones who stayed were just as good. They were all extremely talented and definitely worthy of attending this pristine school or maybe even becoming heroes, sure, they didn't graduate from the hero course, but he was sure that if that was the way they decided to go Nezu would do everything to help.

This new class sure had big shoes to fill, but from what he read in their files he was sure they could do it. One name stood up to him the most though, Izuku Midoriya. At first he couldn't quite place it, it just felt familiar but after a while he remembered. Izuku was the kid he talked to a year ago on the helpline, the kid that was gonna kill himself. He wanted to check up on him afterwards of course but he never really had the time and then he just forgot, well, that was a lie, Hizashi never forgot about the people he saved or failed to save, he had them all written down in a notebook that he always kept with him, to remind him of why he was doing this, who was he kidding he didn't need to remind himself, he knew it was Oboro, he was the first name after all. With the files of his new students in hand he walked through the door and yelled his signature “YEAH”, smiling at the listeners as he walked to his desk and sat down.

He was very excited to hear them all introduce themselves, the young cat-mutant Kitora liked drawing and painting, the boy that can grow flowers, Haruta, hates gardening, they all had something to say. Once Shinso Hitoshi, who likes cats, finished talking, it was Izuku's turn, which worried him a bit since he knew the boy's history.

“Hi, I play the guitar, I like cats and the color red and I'm quirkless.”

He couldn't believe his own words, he panicked, he just told everyone he was quirkless, a freak. His breath started to sting as he panicked more and more, drowning in air as he collapsed to the floor.

He heard laughter, of course, they were laughing at him. A quirkless kid having a panic attack? How ironic.

He couldn't bring himself to look up, to open his eyes, he couldn't face them. It was his first day at his dream school and he was already ruining it, he was for sure going to get expelled. His mind raced through all the possible outcomes of this and everytime it ended with everyone hating him. He, of course, knew he wasn't being rational but that's what 10 years of bullying and trauma gives you, paranoia.

He tried to calm down, he really did, but everytime he got his breathing he'd hear laughter and go right back down that spiral.

Hitoshi was.. Surprised, he didnt think hed meet someone like him at UA, he heard that they were accepting quirkless students now, but as far as he was concerned it was just so they seem empathetic, but then again the principal was Nedzu, a rat with an intelligence quirk, was he even a rat? Ehh who knows. Either way, hearing the boy in front of him, Midoriya, say he's quirkless surprised him. What didn't surprise him was what happened afterwards, the teen had a panic attack, he fell to the floor, tears streaming down his face faster than waterfalls.

He immediately got up, slowly approaching Midoriya, hoping he wouldn't freak out. He quietly sat down beside him and held his hand while their new teacher hurried their laughing classmates out the door. He thought he heard Mr. Yamada yell, but that was probably just his imagination, he continued holding Midoriya's hand as the man returned. He too sat down beside Izuku and started talking to him.

He was disappointed to say the least, when he saw his students' files they all looked like great young minds, he hoped they were. But once Izuku mentioned his quirk status they all turned at him, laughing and swearing as he had a panic attack. Hizashi quickly got them out the classroom, sending all the ones who laughed straight to Nedzu and the rest to Kan, quickly texting both to let them know what was happening, then he ran straight back into the classroom, looking at Shinso and Izuku, the taller boy holding his hand as he sat next to him. He sat down beside them and started trying to comfort Izuku, “Hey there listener, can you try breathing like me?” he asked the boy, smiling at him, but the listener wasn't there, he was lost in his own head. “Okay, Izuku, can you hear me? It's me, Present Mic, Shinso is here too, he's the one holding your hand.” the man continued, trying to wake his student up. “We met a year ago, do you remember? The sky was clear that night, you told me a bit about yourself. I walked you home afterwards.” That got a slight reaction from the boy, he shook a bit and his breathing slowed down a bit. “You like analysis, right?” he reminisced, it was the one thing from their conversation that wasn't sad.Thankfully that too seemed to grab the Izukus attention and his breathing returned to normal, he was still crying, but he turned his head to face his teacher.

“..Thank you” he said, embarrassed as he looked around, expecting hateful faces. “Uhm w-where'd everyone go?” he asked the two sitting with him. “Some of them to the principal's office, others to 1-B. I assumed you wouldn't want them here right now.” Hizashi replied calmly to the boy, giving him a small smile as he talked. “Come on, let's get you up, Shinso, would you please grab the water bottle from my desk, there should be a few in the second drawer!” He continued talking, turning his attention to Shinso midway. “Thank you listener,” he smiled once the boy brought him the bottle, passing it to the other teen as he spoke again “Is it okay if I go get Hound Dog? You don't have to have a whole therapy session, but I thought maybe some fidgets or something could help.” Izuku smiled at him, nodding before turning to Shinso and smiling at him as well.

“Oh god, these two are going to be something..”

Chapter Text

“Alright Izuku, you´ve got this..” he said to himself, once again standing in front of the UA gates, his breathing has slowed down since last week, he knew he'd be somewhat safe during homeroom and english and that was all that mattered. A weak tap on his shoulder woke him up, once he turned around he got a glimpse of purple hair and tired eyes. “Oh Shinso, hi..” he whispered, smiling at the boy. “Hi ,Midoriya, I wanted to ask if you wanted to walk with me again, I get it if not, but you seem pretty cool.” Shinso replied, his voice monotone and raspy. Izuku wondered if he always spoke like that or if it only manifested after the marks on his cheeks and around his mouth appeared. “Are you making fun of me or actually asking?” Izuku questioned, sure, the teen looked like he could be trusted but one can never be too safe. “I'm genuinely asking.” He said and that was that. The two walked through the gate together awkwardly, giving each other glances as they did. Once they walked past 1-A Izuku flinched, hearing Kacchan scream. “Are you okay, Midoriya?” Shinso asked the shorter boy a worried look on his face. “Could you call me Izuku, I don't really like my last name..” The boy said instead of answering.

“Last names.. Yeah, they fucking suck” Hitoshi thought to himself as he nodded, “Call me Hitoshi then, I dont like my last name either” he added, causing Mi- Izuku to smile, a giggle escaping his lips.

“Okay!”

Once they arrived at the classroom they were having a full blown conversation about Eraser, it turns out Hitoshi noticed him as well when walking past 1-A on the first day. “Do you think he carries that sleeping bag everywhere?” Hitoshi asked.

“Oh definitely! I mean during the day he works at UA, classes for the hero course end at 16:10, then he also has to wait for his students to clean up and leave, get home, change into his hero costume if he's not already wearing it, his patrol starts at around six pm, which means he has about two hours to do whatever he does and then his shift ends at around four am.  He has to get to school an hour early, so that would mean he has three hours in the morning to sleep, eat, shower and do something for himself. But he doesn't work everyday, meaning, he can probably get around..” Izuku's speech turned to mumbles as he spoke, leaving the other boy to try to determine what he was saying. “Uh- Izuku, i'm so sorry I can't understand you, what'd you say?” He asked, giving him a reassuring grin. “Oh sorry!! I was just saying that he probably gets around 24 hours of sleep a week, maybe a bit more or less. He might have insomnia so that would push the numbers down a lot… Sorry for annoying you with this, uh, I'll stop talking now.” He replied, glancing at the floor.

“Oh no, don't worry! That was actually really cool? How do you know so much about him?”

“Uhm, I do analysis.. It's a hobby I picked up when I was little. Eraser is my favourite hero, so I tried to get as much on him as possible, there's not much online of course, but I did find some information. The rest was just me guessing and the hero course class schedule. Oh and he often patrols in the area I live in, so I've seen him a few times, that's why I think his patrol lasts from six pm to four am!” The boy smiled as the bell rang, taking his seat and waiting for Yamada-sensei.

After the first official school day Hizashi had only twelve students in his class, which was surprising considering he has never expelled anyone and he's been a teacher for around eight years now. It was usually Shota who expelled students, especially this early, but he had a good reason and didn't feel any guilt at all (why should he, those people had no right to attend UA). For homeroom, he was gonna do an introduction game, since the first one was cut a bit short.

“ALRIGHT!! Welcome little listeners, we are going to spend homeroom with an icebreaker. Do you all know ´Two truths, one lie´?” He asked, using his quirk to get the students attention. He was met with a few nods and “yeahs”.

“Okay! Who wants to start?”

“Uh, I'm allergic to strawberries, I don't like english and I can't bake.” Hasegawa went first, and it turns out he does like english!

“My favourite hero is Rock Lock, I have two cats and my older sister went to UA.” Continued Arai , she has four cats, not two.

“My mom is a nurse, I hate mushrooms and I skipped a grade!” Then said Fukui , their mom is a surgeon!

Now it was Shinso´s turn, to be completely honest he was interested, he saw the scars the boy had on his face, they were the same ones he has, just more visible. He decided he'd talk to him after class.

“...I want to transfer into the hero course, I use hair gel to get my hair to look like this and ,uh, I used to think about becoming a vigilante if I didn't get into UA.” It was the hair gel one, he reminded him too much of both Shota and Oboro.

After Shinso and a few more kids went ( Hino doesn't actually have a tattoo Kitora does in fact have two younger siblings, Haruta does play Mario Kart daily and Maeda doesn't play the piano, he plays the violin) it was Izuku's turn.

“I.. uhm, I live alone, I don't like chocolate cake and I don't like analysis?” He said, his voice wobbly and unsure. “I think we all hope the lie is the first one,” the class nodded, looking at the green haired boy worriedly. “Is that it?” Hizashi finished his sentence, knowing it in fact wasn't right. “Uh no, I do like analysis..” Izuku laughed uncomfortably, his classmates growing even more worried.

“..Well, now we know what cake not to get you on your birthday..” Hizashi said, trying his best to put on a smile. Three more students still had to go, Nii , Otsuka and Yoshino . The bell rang and the students quickly got up, heading to their next lesson, but before Shinso and Izuku could leave Hizashi stopped them. “Could we talk, both of you?”

The three sat in one of the offices UA provided for teachers, Izuku was picking at the old scars decorating his wrists, trying his best to leave the newer ones alone. Hitoshi was fidgeting with his sleeve, clear worry on his face. “You're not in trouble. Either of you.” Yamada-sensei started talking, “It's only been a week and I've already noticed.. Some things. You two haven't done anything wrong, but I am worried someone else might've. Are you comfortable talking about it in front of each other? Sho- Aizawa doesn't have a class during this period, so he can wait with one of you if that's what you want.” Izuku looked at his friend (can he call him that already?) once his teacher finished speaking and the boy nodded. “We can both stay..” He replied, staring at the floor. “Alright then! Shinso, I've noticed the scars on your face and I need to ask, not just as a hero or a teacher but as someone who has similar scars, have you ever been muzzled?” Yamada-sensei asked the boy, his eyes shining with tears that he immediately blinked away. “I- uhm, I mean-” Hitoshi tried to talk before breaking down in sobs, quickly covering his mouth so as to not make a sound, the other boy hugged him as soon as he did, taking his hands off of his mouth. Once he calmed down, a few tears still slipping down his cheeks, he continued. “I have, a few times..” Yamada-sensei sighed, it was a sigh of worry and disappointment, but Izuku didn't think he was disappointed in Hitoshi, thank God. “Okay, who exactly did that?” the man questioned Hitoshi, “Most of the foster families I've been with, the muzzle gets sent with me now. And then, uh, my teachers? It started when I was around six I think. That's when my mom died, liver failure, and my dad decided he didn't want me anymore..” The teen answered, avoiding eye contact as if his life depended on it. “Are you safe at your current house?” Yamada-sensei continued, clenching his fists in anger, Hitoshi just shook his head and the teacher continued talking. “I'm going to get you placed as a ward of UA for now, most of the teachers here have foster care licences, so you'll be able to choose someone to stay with. I will also need you to tell me the names of everyone who has hurt you, especially the adults, but that can be done later. Right now I need to make sure you're safe. I will notify my friend Tsukauchi, he's a police detective. You will need to answer a few questions but don't worry, I can go with you if you want. Then we can go get your stuff, is that okay?” Hitoshi nodded, tears in his eyes once again. “Alright, now Midoriya.. What exactly did you mean by ´I live alone´?” Yamada-sensei asked the other boy. “Well, I-I don't know if you remember, but my dad left after my diagnosis and my mom ended up leaving two or three months after the, uh, incident. My dad pays rent and I got a part-time job at a convenience store so I can afford some groceries. The school is getting paid for by money I've been saving since I was little and the money my mom put away for the tuition so I'm doing pretty good.” Izuku smiled at the teacher. “Midoriya, you're 15, you can't live by yourself.. You're also gonna have to become a ward of UA, we will try to look for your mom, but I don't think you can go back to her after this..”

“Jesus, what the fuck is happening to society?” Hizashi asked himself after telling the boys to go get their bags, he had a long day ahead of him.

Chapter Text

Hitoshi and Izuku had both decided that they'd like to stay with Yamada-sensei, only to find out they'd be living with their favourite hero as well. Izuku did have suspicions that they were both married, he just didn't think they'd be married to each other!

April went and May came, Aizawa had started helping the two train, after finding out they both wanted to join the hero course. They'd work extra on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Izuku helped Hitoshi with his quirk, letting him brainwash him and trying to break free, testing what could do the trick, turns out it was physical damage! Izuku of course had to write it down immediately, working on finding what could help minimize the risk of that happening in the field. There were also two big things that happened, Hitoshi´s foster parents and adoption agency went to trial and they had the sports festival! To say the boys prepared for it day and night would be an understatement, they sneak out to train during the night (Yamada  knew, he kept an eye on them but never said a thing, it was funny how similar they were to Shota) and train even harder during the day. Izuku talked to Power Loader to see if he could get some support items allowed, after doing extensive research (spending a month and a half looking up support items heroes use, working on sketches and notes that would best help his abilities while also improving his weaknesses) he decided on a foldable bo staff and gloves that strengthened his wrist, like a brace, which of course had a little secret, but that could wait.

Once the sports festival came Izuku thought he'd throw up from how anxious he was, but he ended up doing pretty good. The first part was an Obstacle Course, Hitoshi used his quirk to get people to help him which secured him the 27th spot! And with some mysterious luck (it wasn't luck, Izuku just couldn't believe that someone as useless as him could've actually done a better job than all the quirked kids) Izuku came in 1st place. While he was very excited for that it also meant he now had a huge target on his back, ten million points for the next part. Ten million.

“Oh God, they're all staring, looking at me.. I- I cant breathe, I need to get away, please.. Please just stop staring!” his thoughts screamed, panic filling his lungs and cutting off the oxygen. A panic attack, in the middle of an arena, with the entirety of Japan watching him, wow, he really was embarrassing. “Izuku!” A voice called out from the distance, Hitoshi. “Hey, you're okay, c'mon, breathe with me. In and out, great, you're doing great..” The other boy continued calming him down until he could breathe on his own again, deja vu anyone? “Thanks..” Izuku whispered, smiling at his friend. “We should probably get into a group, huh?”

“Yeah, we should. Do you wanna split up?” Hitoshi asked, being met with an annoyed face. “Seriously? Of course not!! Now come on, I think that pink haired girl has some gadgets with her!” The green haired boy exclaimed, dragging his friend behind him.

During the Cavalry Battle, Izuku and Hitoshi managed to convince Hatsume, the support courses' most talented 1st year, and Uraraka, a girl from class 1A, to team up with them. In the end they got fourth place with over 615 points!

Next were the VS. Battles, the first person Izuku had to fight was Hitoshi.

“Give it your best, okay? Don't be afraid to use your quirk!” He encouraged the other teen with a soft smile as he walked towards the changing rooms.

“Why do I have to fight Izuku, he knows all my moves, ugh, this is gonna be a disaster..” Hitoshi complained to himself as he wrapped up his arms, he cut them on some of the ice the Todoroki kid used during the Cavalry Battle.

“I don't wanna fight Hitoshi! I already know his fighting pattern and he knows mine.. This is gonna be exhausting isn't it?”

“AND NOW, THE FIRST BATTLE! On the left side, 1C's Hitoshi Shinso - Quirk, Brainwashing! Let's see what this young man can give us! And on the right side we have, Izuku Midoriya - Quirk, none! That's right everyone, UA´s first quirkless student! Gentlemen, give it all you can! PLUS ULTRA!” Yamada's voice rang through the arena, at first the observers cheered, once Hitoshi's quirk was revealed, the cheering quieted down, after Izuku's quirklesness was announced it stopped altogether. It stung, but it was life, something both of them knew.

“Izuku!” Hitoshi yelled out, “How does it feel knowing the cats like me more?” he asked, Izuku grimacing before running straight at him, keeping his staff hidden in his fist. “How does it feel knowing-” The purple haired boy got interrupted by a punch, quickly gathering himself up again and running away. “How does it feel knowing that Yamada will always make katsudon just a bit more spicy and you'll never tell him because you're too much of a people pleaser?” Another punch, this time to the stomach, Hitoshi coughed as he stood up, heading towards the line. “C'mon, you can do better than a few punches, can't you?” Izuku ran towards him once again, this time grabbing his staff and pointing it at the other boy. As he tried to hit Hitoshi the boy dogged, leaving him to fly over the line.

That would be if he hadn't counted on that. Izuku knew how Hitoshi fought, he also knew how his quirk worked, which meant Hitoshi would be trying to get him to either surrender or be out of bounds, so when the boy got a bit too close to the line Izuku knew what he was planning. As he stabbed his staff into the ground he grabbed his friend by the collar of his uniform and showed him right across the line.

“AAAND… SHINSO IS OUT OF BOUNDS, MIDORIYA WINS!”  Yamada gushed as Midnight flipped him off behind her back, that was supposed to be her line..

“Hitoshi! Are you okay?” Izuku yelled out, bolting it towards his friend.

“I'm fine, don't worry. Go get ready for your next fight, okay?” Hitoshi reassured his friend and dusted himself off. “It was a good fight.”

The next fights were just as interesting to Izuku as his own, so of course he had to take notes!

´Tetsutetsu (1B) and Kirishima (1A) - They have very similar quirks, while Kirishima's quirk hardens his skin, Tetsutetsu ' s turns his skin into some sort of metal. They can both sustain a lot of physical trauma and damage, but Tetsutestu should watch out for fire and Kirishima's skin could probably crack due to his quirk. Both have a lot of potential! The actual fight ended up being a tie due to both of them passing out but Kirishima won in the end since they arm wrestled.

Tokoyami (1A) and Yaoyorozu (1A) - Tokoyami's quirk is called Dark Shadow, it gives him a shadowy, monster-like being from within his body (called Dark Shadow, like the quirk!) that he can materialize and dematerialize as he pleases! It looks like the light makes it (or him? I'm not sure) weaker while the dark makes it stronger, it would make sense since his quirk literally had the word ´shadow´ in it. Tokoyami probably can't disconnect Dark Shadow from his body but he can still do a lot with it/him!!! Yaoyorozu's quirk is called Creation, it allows her to create physical objects, such as weapons and tools, from any part of their body. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but it could have something to do with her fat cells since she seemed to get tired after creating? (I wonder if she can also create animals or humans, probably not, but it would be pretty cool!) Tokoyami ended up winning! Yaoyorozu seems really sad, it doesn't look like she gave it all she had, is she insecure?

Ashido (1A) and Aoyama (1A) - Ashido's quirk is called Acid, it allows her to create corrosive liquid from her skin, with it being naturally resistant to the acid she produces. The acid can come from anywhere on her body! I wonder if her quirk is the reason she has pink skin or if that's a genetic trait from a family member! Aoyama's quirk is Navel Laser, basically he has a laser on his stomach, it's really sparkly! He ended up losing since Ashido ruined the support belt he has with her acid.

Todoroki (1A) and Sero (1A) - Todoroki's quirk is called Half-Cold Half-Hot, it's a combination of a fire quirk and an ice quirk. He has fire on his left side and ice on his right side, although he doesn't use his left side at all. His left side is similar, maybe the same as his fathers, Endeavor, could that be why he doesn't use it? I should ask him. Sero's quirk is Tape, he can dispense tape from openings on his elbows. Unfortunately I didn't get to see much of his quirk since Todoroki froze him in an instant.

Kaminari (1A) and Shiozaki (1B) - Kaminari's quirk is Electrification, it allows him to store and release electricity! So he electricates whoever touches him if he does release him, there seems to be a side effect, long story shorts, he also electrifies his own brain, making him “short circuit” causing him to get really dumb, I hope it doesn't hurt.. Shiozaki's quirk is called Vines, it's exactly as it sounds, her hair are vines that she can control. She was really cool, she used her vines/hair to protect herself, closing all the electricity in a big ball of her hair/vines and electrifying Kaminari back! She ended up winning.

Uraraka (1A) and Kacchan Bakugo (1A) - Uraraka's quirk is called Zero Gravity, whatever she touches (there's probably a catch to this, maybe the amount of fingers?) loses gravity, basically she can make things fly! She put up a good fight, I was really rooting for her, she's really strong, but she unfortunately lost. (all the explosions got to me, I really wish I didn't have to see him, but that's just my luck i guess. Does God hate me? Probably)

Hatsume (1H) and Iida (1A) - Hatsume's quirk is Zoom, it lets her look really far into the distance, her pupils also have a different shape, that might be a physical manifestation of the quirk! I didn't see much of her quirk though, she's mostly focused on showing off her “babies”, that's what she calls her inventions. Iisa has the same quirk as his brother, Ingenium. It's called Engine and it's exactly as it sounds. He has engines on the back of his calves. It helps him go faster basically. Iida ended up winning since Hatsume surrounded.´

“You're Midoriya.. Right?” A monotone voice asked, causing Izuku to jump up. “Uh, yeah, that's me. Is there something you need?” He replied, giving the other teen, Todoroki, a soft smile. “Come with me.” It sounded more like an order than a question and he has long known not to say no to quirked people, sure UA is supposed to be different, but who the hell knows? The two walked through the stadium, reaching a dark back alley. “So, you're quirkless?” Todoroki questioned as Izuku tried to read his face. Nothing. The boy looked exactly the same as all the other times he's seen him, it was strange. He reminded him of Hitoshi a bit, could this be Endeavor too? “I am. Is that gonna be a problem?” He answered, still trying to figure the other boy out. “No, that's good.” Todoroki smiled and walked away.

“What the fuck is wrong with the hero course kids?”

“LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, ROUND TWO!! On the right side we have Todoroki Shoto and on the left we have Midoriya Izuku, DO YOUR BEST!” Yamada-sensei beamed, causing chatter and cheers to explode from the audience. Midoriya immediately launched at Shoto (he knew to aim for the left side, since he was probably not gonna use his quirk), releasing the secret container in his glove. Out of it fell a small vial, filled with a light orange liquid. Midoriya grabbed it and poured it onto the boy, causing him to stumble slightly as he turned around.

“Hi Hiro!” Izuku called out after his classmate. “Uh, what's up?” the orange eyed boy replied, slightly confused. “Your quirk lets you reduce one's endurance, right?” He questioned, a smile on his face. “Yeah, my hands produce the liquid, as long as it touches the skin it works.”

“I have a favor to ask you..”

As soon as Shoto was thrown off balance Midoriya took his bo staff and tripped him over. Once he was down he simply grabbed his arms and scooted him out of the arena.

“WOW! WE HAVE A WINNER EVERYONE!” Yamada yelled, looking down at the two. “Todoroki Shoto is out of bounds, Midoriya wins!” Not a single cheer came from the audience.

´Iida won the fight against Shiozaki, she was very good though!

Tokoyami won against Ashido.

Kirishima lost.

I fought against Iida. He was very fast, but I managed to push him over the line, this one was tough!

Tokoyami lost so I'm completely and utterly cooked, seriously send help, reliving my trauma, so funny haha, killing myself tonight!!.´

“How the fuck did I get here..?” Izuku thought to himself as he walked into the arena, accompanied by whispers and boo's. “And NOW! On the right we have - Midoriya and on the left is Bakugo! Let's see who'll get first place!” Once again Yamada's voice filled the stadium as the two walked out the big halls surrounding the arena. “Do your worst!” Izuku yelled, the bell announcing the start of the fight interrupting him. Bakugo immediately ran towards him, sending explosions his way every second. He pretended the explosions didn't make him want to curl up into a ball and die so instead he tried dodging every single one, sometimes getting caught up, but it wasn't like he wasn't used to them already. “Do you really think your quirk will stop me? Kacchan you've been hitting me with it ever since I was four, fight me like a normal person!” He provoked, trying to get his childhood friend closer to once again use his “secret” weapon. But of course it didn't work. (How could it, we already established that God hates quirkless people.) Bakugo quickly launched an explosion at him. “What the fuck do you think you're doing, huh? I fucking told you not to apply, Deku!” Izuku winced at the name, which caused his response time to shorten. The explosion hit him. Before he could get up another one came, then another and then another. Quickly, Bakugo came closer, sending him one last explosion, “You'll never be a hero like this, quirkless-wannabe.” he scoffed.

“Midoriya is unable to move, Bakugo wins!”

He woke up in the infirmary, he expected to be in pain, for everything to burn as it always did, but that never came. “Oh, hi dear!” Recovery girl smiled. “The awards will be given out soon, I healed you already so hurry up!” She continued, ignoring his confused face. “Uh.. Yeah, thank you?” Izuku blurted out and ran outside the office, quickly making his way back to the stadium.

“AND NOW FOR OUR WINNERS! IN THIRD PLACE WE HAVE…” a spot in the ground opened and three huge pillars shot up, “TOKOYAMI FUMIKAGE!” Yamada yelled as All Might ( “Great, more trauma coming through!” Izuku thought) walked forward and gave Tokoyami his medal and a few words of encouragement. “SECOND PLACE IS.. MIDORIYA IZUKU!” The man came over, putting the silver medal around his neck “Young Midoriya, you did a great job! I'm surprised you got this far without a quirk!” he blustered and gave the boy a smile “Fuck off..” Izuku replied in his head. “AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, FIRST PLACE IS BAKUGO KATSUKI!” One more medal and a few more words, he couldn't hear them over the cheering. Why didn't they cheer like that for Tokoyami?

“Izuku! You did great!! I'm so happy, we need to celebrate!!” Hitoshi cheered once they met up outside the changing rooms, “You did great as well! Sorry for beating you..” Izuku sniffled, feeling the guilt of stealing his friend's time to show off wash over him. “Don't worry, I'll return the favor when we play Mario Kart tonight. Now let's go, we have the day off and there's a new cat cafe close by…” The boy continued rambling but Izuku wasn't listening, he was just glad he got so lucky with a friend like Hitoshi.

Except for Hitoshi's last foster parents going to jail, thanks to Aizawa and Yamada, June was quite uneventful. Izuku did go to the arcane for the first time though, he ended up having just enough points for an Edgeshot keychain!

In July the boys had the final exam, the nights spent studying were substituted by black coffee (for Izuku) and energy drinks (for Hitoshi) that Hizashi made sure to stack up on. On the first it was Hitoshis birthday, Izuku had gotten him a handmade Eraserhead plushie and a My Chemical Romance t-shirt, Yamada and Aizawa got him two new bed covers, some hair gel, a new phone case and earphones! They all went to a cat cafe and Yamada even baked a cake. Hitoshi looked so happy that day. On the 7th they had another birthday, Yamada. The boys made him custom pins with photos of their cats and a new recipe book, since he loved to bake and cook. Aizawa got him some new shoes, a radio keychain (it was literally just a small red radio, the man cried) and a David Bowie poster. Aizawa made fried chicken and they all watched movies that day. A week later it was Izukus birthday, he didn't expect to get anything so when he woke up and Hitoshi showed a Present Mic mug into his hands he broke down crying, once he calmed down Aizawa and Yamada gave him five new notebooks and some new pens, a sketchbook and two dinosaur plushies, he cried again. This time Yamada made cupcakes, noticing Izuku's eating habits and for dinner he made katsudon. Once he went to bed Izuku cried again. On the first day of the exams both of the boys were terrified but their scores ended up quite good, Izuku had scored 89 and Hitoshi got 77, the practical exam was a bit different, from what he heard the hero courses had to fight the teachers, thankfully, that wasn't the case for the general studies course. Their test was to fight against the robots from the entrance exam and an analysis of a teacher's quirk. Hizashi was a bit surprised to see that Izuku only got 90 points, he was good at combat, especially after his training with Shota and he's seen the listeners analysis notebooks, but he didn't think much of it. Hitoshi ended up getting 81 points, he struggled with the analysis part a bit, but he did great anyway!

Once summer break came, so did the summer camp. It was fun, even though they still had to study and train! Izuku, of course, had to take his notebook with him. At the end he had filled it up completely and had to buy a new one. Afterwards the dorms were introduced and the two said goodbye to the cats and their guardians. Izuku moved all his stuff, two boxes and one backpack, into his room a day before all the other students, so did Hitoshi. It wasn't like he didn't trust them or didn't want to see them, but the idea of them knowing what he liked scared him. One time he had an Assasiation Classroom keychain and it got burned and thrown out the window, they stopped teasing him about it after four months. So one day early it was. Aizawa bought him two pairs of fairy lights since he noticed that he always left the lamp on before going to sleep and Yamada bought both him and Hitoshi a blanket with cats. Izuku got a red one while Hitoshi got the black one, he remembered their favourite colors. Once all his posters were put up (most of them were hero posters,  but no one had to know) he made his way towards Hitoshis room, which was a few doors down from his. He had gotten LED lights from Aizawa (he had noticed the same problem, but thought Hitoshi would appreciate them more) which he put just under the ceiling above his bed. The blanket covered his bed sheets (black ones with small yellow goggles drawn on them) and he had plushies on his bed too! Both of them asked if they could have a minifridge in their room, turns out a lot of their problems were similar. Izuku's fears (he wouldn't call it anxiety even if he knew that was exactly what it was, he wasn't diagnosed anyway) made him feel like everyone was watching him at all times plus he never really had a good relationship with food (he used to, but his lunches have been getting stolen for 9 years now and when you were living in a single parent household while also broke, diners and breakfasts were a privilege) so it was easier to eat alone or just not eat alone. Hitoshi also needed to eat away from people, not because he was afraid or anything, but because that was what he was used to. He grew up in foster homes and group homes, where food was a privilege, so if you had some, you had to hide it.

In September the second term started and it was uneventful, at least for them. From what everyone was saying class 1A kept bumping into trouble, first the USJ attack, then the sports festival, internships, those two meeting Stain, the final exam against the teachers, the summer Camp incident, Bakugo getting kidnapped, saving Bakugo, All Might losing to that guy, the provisional hero license exam and now they're starting work-studies. Maybe it wasn't that bad not to get into the hero course.

October and November went pretty much unnoticed, a lot of training and studying. Some new scars and nightmares, one movie night and a few new analyses, but nothing too important.

Once December came, Aizawa told the two they'd be joining a training exercise with the hero course students to see if they're worthy of joining.

“I can't wait for the joint exercise! We can finally show everyone how good we are!” Hitoshi exclaimed, sitting on the floor of Izuku's dorm. “Yeah.. Me too!” Izuku smiled, just the thought of fighting Kacchan again made him want to throw up. “Uh, you good?” The boy asked, he always noticed when Izuku was feeling down, it was nice to have someone care. “Oh uh, yeah.. I just don't really wanna fight this one guy, I've known him since we were like, i don't know, infants? He wasn't the nicest after my diagnosis..”

“Shit.. Have you told Aizawa? Or anyone for that matter. If he was a dick to you just because you don't have a quirk he doesn't deserve to be a hero..”

“I- It's just.. It's all he's ever wanted, I can't take  that away from him, you know?”

“I don't. But I won't push you, just.. Talk to me if anything. I'm here for you.”

“I know.” Izuku smiled.

The clock read 3:46 AM, the razor blade sat on his nightstand and new bandages decorated his wrists, it was necessary. The nightmares wouldn't stop and this time there was no one to sit with him in the living room, no one to bring him a glass of water, no one to comfort him. So he did what he knew, cut. He drew the lines and let the roses bloom. 4:01 AM, “I need to go to sleep.”

“Okay, today there will be two more students joining you other than class 1B, Shinso and Midoriya from 1C. They will be switching between the two groups so you will all get to work with them. Understood?” Aizawa sensei asked, but Katsuki didn't hear it. All he could concentrate on was the fact that fucking Deku was here and he'd be training with him. Fucking awesome. What did this quirkless nerd even want? To be a hero? Please, be realistic. It was annoying. “The first group for 1A will be.. Anima, Chargebolt, Froppy, Red Riot and Shinso, for 1B it will be.. Gevaudan, Vine, Tsuburaba and Long Weizi. Each group has to arrest everyone from the other group, you both have a jail, the ones who arrest everyone or have more arrests by the end of the round win. You can release your teammates by pressing that button. Everybody get that? Great, the bell will announce the start of the round. Good luck.” The man continued, his words still going over Katsuki's head, by now he was sure people had noticed he was staring, but how could he not? His childhood friend, the Deku, was standing in front of him, during his classes exercise, smiling and laughing with his friend. What kind of bullshit is that? He was supposed to become a police officer at best and now he was standing here, at UA. It pissed him off.

“Hitoshi!” Izuku yelled out once his friend returned, “You did so well!! I can't believe you managed to get control over your capture weapon in only a few weeks! You have to tell me your secrets after this!” he beamed, causing his friend to blush in embarrassment. “I'm sure you'll do great as well, now come on, the next teams are being announced!”

´1B: Battle Fist, Comicman, Shemage and Vantablack -

  • Battle Fist: Kendo Itsuka, her quirk is called Big Fist. It allows her to enlarge one or both of her hands to enormous sizes. Her hands become gigantic (around three times bigger than her own body) almost immediately. Her physical strength also increases in tandem, giving her enough power to easily crush tungsten shields, knock out people with a few strikes and carry heavy objects with her. She herself does not seem affected by the increased weight of her gigantified hands.
  • Comicman: Manga Fukishadi, his quirk is called Comic. It allows him to materialize onomatopoeia into the real world in the form of giant Japanese letters by speaking them. The onomatopoeia is manifested with the same effects as the sound they're based on. This grants him excellent versatility, as he is capable of conjuring various effects by just spelling the right wording. The manifested onomatopoeia are quite durable and can even resist Aoyama's laser beams. The onomatopoeia that I've seen  so far were: KA-BOOM! BANG! BLAM! BONK!: Creates huge, sturdy letters that crash through an area and function as a wall. DAMP: Creates letters that act as a humidifier. BOING: Creates bouncy letters that can rebound projectiles. His quirk makes his entire head look like an actual comic book speech bubble which also affects his height.
  • Shemage: Kinoko Komori, her quirk is called Mushroom. It allows her to generate and spread fungus spores from her body. Once these spores make contact with a solid surface, they will quickly grow into full-grown mushrooms. The spores can grow from any surface, be it the area, the user's own body, and even other people's bodies. The spores spread easier in an area with high humidity. Weaknesses: Since spores indiscriminately target people's bodies, Kinoko can accidentally affect allies, so she has to sterilize them beforehand. It's possible to combat the mushrooms with ethanol or some other fungicide. Fire is effective too, as it burns the spores in the air. The mushrooms will naturally die after two or three hours.
  • Vantablack: Shihai Kuroiro, their quirk is Black. It allows him to merge his body into anything that is dark-colored, whether naturally dark, or dark via external circumstances, such as shadows. He can also move themself through the darkness freely. This ability does not take mass into account, so merging with small or thin dark objects, such as a mushroom or a cape, is entirely possible. Objects that are naturally mobile can be forced to move if he assimilates into them. Because of this, Black holds an advantage against Dark Shadow, a dark-colored living appendage, which he is capable of possessing and then controlling its actions, regardless of Tokoyami's wishes. This Quirk is most efficient in cramped areas with little to no lighting, where shadows are abundant and the lack of space physically hinders the user's opponents, preventing them from fighting properly or escaping. He'd be a great underground hero!

1A: Can't Stop Twinkling, Creati, Invisible Girl and Tsukuyomi -

  • Can't Stop Twinkling: Aoyama Yuga, their quirk is Naval Laser. It gives them the ability to fire sparkly twinkling laser beams from their navel. Those beams specifically come from their belly button. They can range from short to long-range, with strong enough recoil to propel the user through the air at a high speed. Aoyama has the ability to manipulate the size and shape of a beam, such as turning it razor-thin or into a blade of light that can be swung around. The beams are powerful enough to destroy metal and pierce through solid concrete, although they do not appear to be lethal. They could be a good rescue hero, their quirk allowing citizens to easily find a hero! But they would make a good day-light hero as well :)
  • Creati: Yaoyorozu Momo, her quirk is Creation. It allows her to materialize physical objects, such as weapons and tools, from any part of her body. This is achieved by the user transmuting the molecular structure of her fat cells. (I was right, holy shit!) With the exception of living beings such as humans and animals, Yaoyorozu can create pretty much whatever she wants, no matter how complex or advanced its structure may be. She only requires to understand the atomic configuration of said object in order to reproduce it: she first imagines the necessary parts, followed by the materials, then the assembling process and, finally, the coating. Yaoyorozu's creations emerge from her body with a blue and pink glow and are otherwise no different from the regular objects they are based on, although she can customize the materials that form their composition, giving them whole new properties. She doesn't necessarily have to completely dispense a creation from her body either, having the choice to materialize only half or more of its functional structure, while the rest remains within her person. This is useful for situations where she has to quickly maneuver said creation or herself around, or if both her hands are currently occupied with some other task. Yaoyorozu has the ability to create objects bigger than the surface area of her skin, allowing her, if she has enough lipids, to create objects far bigger than herself. She can also create items outside of her body as long as part of the creation is touching her body. Her body breaks down fat at a molecular level, which will then be reused as material for her to shape into objects with her Quirk. Because of this, a considerable ingestion of food is necessary for the quirk to be effective.
  • Invisible Girl: Hakagure Toru, her quirk is Invisibility. Invisibility grants the user a completely invisible body. Because of Invisibility, none of Hakagure's physical features can be observed through the naked eye, making it hard to detect her presence or read her emotions unless she announces them herself. (I feel really bad for her, maybe there's a way for her to be visible?)
  • Tsukuyomi: Tokoyami Fumikage, his quirk is Dark Shadow. It grants him a shadowy, monster-like being from within their body that he can materialize and dematerialize at will. Dark Shadow effectively acts like Tokoyami's personal guardian, functioning as a living appendage that follows all of its master's commands. It is sentient, capable of speech, and loyally protects its host, regardless of the state it finds itself in. Dark Shadow is always connected to his body through an "umbilical cord" (as described by Shihai Kuroiro), even when it moves far away from him. However, Tokoyami does not appear to share the same physical sensations as Dark Shadow, such as pain and weakness, or vice-versa, meaning that incapacitating just one of them will not prevent the other from acting out. It is somehow able to communicate with Tokoyami telepathically, as well. Dark Shadow appears to possess the ability to change shape to some extent, as it can apparently extend the length of its arms and neck if so desired. It's said to be made of "dark energy", despite being a solid entity that can interact with the material world, but said energy has a limit, and Dark Shadow will retract into Fumikage's body when said limit runs out. Certain actions can make this energy drain out faster, like making Dark Shadow take too many opposing hits or having it distance itself too much from Fumikage's body. To recharge Dark Shadow, Fumikage needs to keep it hidden from any source of light.

1B: Mudman, Real Steel, Rocketti, Spiral and me -

  • Mudman: Honenuki Juzo, his quirk is Softening. It allows him to soften anything he touches, effectively turning solid objects semi-liquid. Softening works on anything solid, such as ice, metal, or the ground, and it possesses great range. The softened objects become similar to mud or quicksand, trapping and sinking anything caught on it. To revert the effects of Softening, Honenuki only needs to touch the softened object a second time. Softening is extremely effective against enemies who rely on ground or building mobility, as those become unstable footholds for one to move through. A softened structure or spot might look normal at first glance, but will lose its apparent solidity once someone steps on it, meaning Softening works well for laying traps. (It would've been funny if he had fought Kirishima, since their quirks have opposite names)
  • Real Steel: Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, his quirk is Steel. It allows him to transform his entire body into steel. Steel makes Tetsutetsu's body virtually impenetrable; it is tough enough to protect Tetsutetsu from lethal hazards. Naturally, it increases his physical strength to superhuman levels, too, allowing him to break through most obstacles. Tetsutetsu has said that he will gain longer and stronger use of his Quirk depending on the level of iron that is in his diet. It is unknown if this refers to foods that have iron in them or if he has to eat the actual metal itself. (I really hope it's the first one, Jesus Christ). His body turns red when exposed to fire, so be careful??
  • Rocketti: Tsunotori Pony, her quirk is Horn Cannon. It allows her to detach and launch her horns as projectiles. She can fire off several horns in succession, with a new set regenerating on her head almost instantly. She possesses the ability to remotely control up to four of them as well, allowing her to change their mid-air trajectory to get around obstacles. Those horns are strong enough to restrain Shoji, who is known for his high physical strength, and thrust away Tetsutetsu, who can turn his body into metal. Her horns can carry multiple people and objects, although doing so slows their usual speed significantly. However they can be stopped just by holding her horn so that's something she should hide in the future!
  • Spiral: Kaibara Sen, his quirk is Gyrate. It allows him to rotate any part of his body at high speeds. The effects of Gyrate turn Kaibara's limbs into something akin to a drill. This enhances his hand-to-hand combat capabilities significantly. (He'd also make a good rescue hero, or a close combat one!)

1A: Ingenium, Shoto, Tailman and Tentacole -

  • Ingenium: Iida Tenya, his quirk is Engine. Engine grants him engine-like protrusions on his calves that allow him to move at extraordinary speeds. Thanks to Engine Iida can dash through long distances in a short amount of time. This makes him suited for missions that involve reaching a faraway place as fast as possible, chasing after an object moving at high speeds, or even escaping from an overwhelming threat. The mufflers found on Engine can be removed, with new ones regenerating in their place over time. These new mufflers may increase in power and efficiency, assuming he puts themselves through massive strain due to Quirk usage, as Engine will naturally adapt to the newfound intensity. Removing the mufflers looks to be quite a painful process though, as he must forcefully pull them out.
  • Shoto: Todoroki Shoto, his quirk is Half-Cold Half-Hot. It allows him to generate ice, frost, and cold from the right side of their body, and fire, flames, and heat from the left. However, he is unable to manipulate either element that comes from an external source; he can only create them from his body. The Quirk's power is perfectly divided between the right and left sides of the user's body. This gives the user two powerful, separate methods of combat that they may use regardless of the other. Although he barely uses his left side, usually only using it to defrost his ice.
  • Tailman: Oijiro Mashirao, his quirk is Tail. It grants him a prehensile appendage that extends from his lower posterior. Oijiro's tail is very bulky, being longer and wider than any of his regular human limbs. Its tip contains a tuft of blonde hair, reflecting his normal hair color. Tail effectively functions as a third limb. It's strong enough to break objects made of metal, capture enemies and support Oijiro's own weight.
  • Tentacole: Shoji Mezo, his quirk is Dupli-Arms. It grants him a set of arm-like tentacles adjacent to his arms that can transform into duplicates of his other body parts. Shoji is able to reproduce any of his body parts, including ears, eyes, mouths, hands and so on, with said parts taking form through pods located at the tip of each of his tentacles. The duplicated parts are actually enhanced versions of the original ones, which improves Mezo's strength and senses. Different parts can be manifested at once too, allowing Shoji to combine his augmented sensory abilities. If for some reason one or several of the replicated body parts are cut off, Mezo can replicate it again once the injury has healed.

1B: Jack Mantis, Lizardy, Plamo and Welder

  • Jack Mantis: Kamakiri Togaru, his quirk is Razor Sharp. It allows him to produce large blades from his body. Kamakiri's blades can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and from any part of his body. These blades are strong enough to cut through metal pipes (which are commonly made up of steel or iron).
  • Lizardy: Tokage Setsuna, her quirk is Lizard Tail Splitter. It allows her to split her body into several pieces and control them telekinetically. Tokage is able to split off pieces from any part of her body. Those cutoff bits of hers move around by floating, following her will. Due to their usually small size and high speed of movement, they're hard targets to hit individually. Notably, if any of those pieces contain a functioning organ, said organ is capable of operating by itself away from the rest of her body, allowing her to, for example, speak with just a floating jaw that contains her mouth, or see with just one quarter of her face, as long as it has one of her eyes on it.
  • Plamo: Bondo Kojiro, his quirk is Cemedine. It allows them to spray a glue-like liquid from the holes in their head. Once it hits something, the glue will either harden up and trap whatever it makes contact with or make it sticky and dangerous to touch. Bondo can adjust the speed at which their glue dries. Acid is able to dissolve Cemedine.
  • Welder: Awase Yosetsu, his quirk is Weld. It allows him to merge things both organic and inorganic at a subatomic level. When Yosetsu activates his Quirk, the two objects he's making contact with will become physically connected. This extends to Awase's own body as well, as he is capable of melding himself with objects or people as well. He can reverse the effects of Weld if he needs to.

1A: Pinky, Cellophane, Earphone Jack and Sugarman

  • Pinky: Ashido Mina, her quirk is Acid. It allows her to create corrosive liquid from her skin, with it being naturally resistant to the acid they produce. Acid can be generated in high quantities from any part of her skin, with Ashido being capable of manipulating it to an extent. She can produce acid that's strong enough to melt solid objects, including metal ones. This gives Ashido an advantage against most adversaries, especially those who are overly reliant on easily-destroyable weapons and equipment, such as Aoyama's cape and belt. It is shown that she has gained inspiration from Katsuki Bakugo's Explosion and Shoto Todoroki's Half-Cold Half-Hot due to their technique to condense and than release their Quirks and incorporates it into her new technique at Maximum Output showing that it can melt through almost anything.
  • Cellophane: Sero Hanta, their quirk is Tape. It allows them to eject adhesive tape from openings located on both of their elbows. Sero's elbows look and function like tape dispensers, from where they can fire lengths of tape that stick to anything they aim at. The amount of tape Sero is able to generate in a single instance isn't unlimited, but it's still plentiful enough for them to successfully utilize for various offensive, defensive and movement purposes, making their Quirk surprisingly versatile. The tape is strong enough to immobilize opponents, hold large structures together and support Sero's own weight. Once a strand of tape is released from their elbows, they have the choice of either cutting it off with their hands to allow new strands to be fired or leaving it intact for them to move around whatever he caught.
  • Earphone Jack: Jiro Kyoka, her quirk is Earphone Jack. It grants her long, controllable earlobes that work like headphone cables. Jiro's earlobes are shaped like jacks at their ends, allowing her to plug them into a variety of objects. Those earlobes can further channel the vibrations of her own heartbeats, dealing internal damage to said objects. Moreover, she is able to catch faint sounds through her jacks even across extremely thick walls, making her excellent at scouting work. It is possible, however, to mislead her by somehow generating multiple sources of noise to mask the ones she's trying to detect. The jacks can also pretty much pierce through anything, at least that's what I think from what I've seen so far.
  • Sugarman: Sato Rikido, his quirk is Sugar Rush. It allows him to multiply his strength five-fold for three minutes for every ten grams of sugar he ingests. Sato must consume the required sugar quantities for his Quirk to be activated in the first place. This can be achieved by eating any food items that carry enough sugar content, such as most sweets, soft drinks or even raw, granulated sugar. Once this condition is met, Sato is able to convert the absorbed sugar into raw strength, with his body slightly bulking up as a result.´

“Alright, last group.” Aizawa announces, eyeing the list in his hand. “Fuck.” Izuku trembles slightly, of course he'd be in the same group as Bakugo. “For Class 1A, Midoriya, Grape Juice, Bakugo and Uravity, for 1B, Emily, Mines, Phantom Thief, Rule and Shinso. Do your best.” He could feel Bakugo staring daggers at him when they walked towards their starting point, this was gonna be pure suffering. “Okay, listen up, extras!” Bakugo yelled, causing Izuku to flinch. “Small Fry and Deku, you're gonna be defence, I don't say this often and I'll never say but I'm counting on you, little runt. Me and pink cheeks will be offence, if they try to get you, catch them.” The bell rang, echoing through the arena. “Let's fucking go.” Izuku winced at the sound of the explosion, he had to get over that, really, he should be used to it by now. “Uhh, you good? I heard that quirkless people were frail and shit but it didn't look like that in the sports festival.” Mineta asked, he didn't mean to offend, but he did. “I'm fine.” He snapped back, walking further away to recollect his thoughts.

“What was that about?” Ochaco asked, staring at her classmate as they floated through the air. “What was what about?” Bakugo snapped back. “The thing with Midoriya, since when did you think Mineta's abilities were any good? And why'd you call him Deku?” She questioned, he looked annoyed, maybe she should've just kept to herself, it wasn't any of her business anyway. “Jesus, pink cheeks. I called him Deku, because that's what he is, useless. Thats also why I trust Mineta more, he may be fucking stupid but at least he has a quirk.” He growled, causing Ochaco to look a bit sad. She saw the boy at the sports festival, he wasn't useless, he even beat Shoto! “Did you forget he beat the literal son of the number two hero? The way I see it, he isn't useless at all, quirk or not.” She argued, this isn't something she'd just stand by. “You don't know him like I do..” Bakugo whispered and disappeared in his own explosion, splitting the two of them up.

In the end they had won. Izuku had managed to capture one girl, Emily, and Hitoshi, Mineta didn't catch anyone (surprise, surprise), Bakugo caught Phantom Thief (he really had a bone to pick with him after he copied his quirk at the sports festival) and Rule and Uraraka caught Mines. “DEKU!” The words echoed through his head.

“Fuck.”

“..Izuku?” Hitoshi called out from the fake prison, recognizing the nickname from the various stories his friend told him. He knew him and Bakugo had a rocky past, but he didn't think the teen was the one who left all those scars.

“WHAT? YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE YOU CAUGHT A FEW OF THESE EXTRAS YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME NOW?” Bakugo yelled, running towards the other boy. Izuku kept silent, he knew it was better not to speak. “ARE YOU FUCKING IGNORING ME?” He continued screaming, sending an explosion his way, Izuku didn't dodge. “Izuku! Why aren't you moving?” His friend questioned, staring at him in disbelief. Another explosion, he was hyperventilating now. “HUH? You gonna cry now? What the fuck do you think you're doing here, hm?” No response, more short and fast breaths and a few hot tears. “ANSWER ME GODDAMNIT!”

“I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't…” he whispered, falling to the concrete floor as another explosion hit him, he was full on crying now, attracting more attention than he needed right now. Hitoshi was trying to break out of the jail cell, Uraraka had just returned, staring at the commotion in front of her with wide eyes, Mineta was just as shocked. He didn't remember much after that, there were a few more blasts, he could feel someone's hand on his shoulder, someone was screaming, it wasn't Bakugo and after that he just saw black.

“What the fuck was that?” Aizawa-sensei asked, looking more pissed than when Pikachu woke him up from his mid-day nap. “What?” He scoffed, he didn't have to explain himself for doing what anyone else would've done. “What makes you think you can hurt a student, in front of two teachers and all your classmates without consequences? Please explain that to me, because I don't fucking get it.” His teacher was getting angry now, his eyes faintly turning red. “Jesus, calm down. I just showed him his place. He thinks he's so much better than me now that he got into UA. Well, he's fucking not. He should know this by now, even our teachers told him.” Why was that guy so pissed? This was just what happened when a quirkless thought they were something more. “Bakugo.. You hurt your classmate to the extent of him passing out, he had a panic attack just because he heard you yell. This isn't normal behaviour and if you think it is you're not fit to be a hero. You're lucky I don't expel you right here, right now.” The man swore looking Katsuki straight into his eyes. “WHAT?” He yelled out, confused as fuck. “This is normal! Everyone always said so, I don't know why you're freaking out so much!” the boy continued, his own anger showing. “Two months detention, you're gonna have two weekly anger management sessions with Hound Dog and until the end of the year you'll be taking anti-discrimination classes. If Midoriya says so, I will expel you. If I don't see change by the end of the year, I will expel you. Is that clear?” The man said and Katsuki knew he wasn't kidding. “Yes, sir.”

Hurt, his head hurt. He slowly opened his eyes, trying to adjust them to the white fluorescent lights.

“Ugh.. What-”

“Izuku!” Hitoshi cried out, hugging him. “Oh God, I was starting to worry you'd never wake up, don't ever scare me like that again, you asshole!”

“Jesus, sorry.. Can you tell me what happened? My head is a fucking blur.”

“Bakugo kinda.. Exploded you? And you passed out, I couldn't get out of that stupid box but Aizawa came running and erased his quirk, he's in the office giving him his punishment right now.”

Oh.. Well shit, the cat's out the bag now, huh?”

“..Is that seriously your response to this?”

“Yep.”

Chapter Text

“Uh Midoriya?” Nii knocked on the door, “There's someone in front of the dorms asking for you, I think it's the Todoroki kid..” She continued, quickly turning away and leaving as soon as she finished speaking. She was nice to him, but really shy. Izuku got up, putting on a hoodie, he didn't need Todoroki to see his scars, even if he could tell the boy had some too. As he walked towards the front door, he couldn't help but wonder, what did Todoroki, of all people, need from him? To be honest, he was worried. Their first and last conversation was… interesting, to say the least. As he reached the door he took one last shaky breath, “Uhm, hi Todoroki. What do you need?” He asked the boy, trying to get a read on him and failing miserably once again. “Could we talk, alone?”

“You're like me, Midoriya.” Todoroki stated, “Sorry, what?” Izuku replied, holy shit this kid is confusing. “You remind me of me. With what happened at the joint training. I saw it at the sports festival too. You had no problem fighting me, Shinso or anyone else, but with Bakugo it was different. You weren't yourself. I know that feeling.” The boy continued, giving him a slight smile as he spoke. “What exactly do you mean by that?” He asked, he was kinda disappointed he didn't have his notebook, this was also good information so sue him. “My father married my mother because of her quirk, quirk marriage. He then had me and all my siblings, said he wanted to create the perfect masterpiece to beat All Might.. My oldest brother, Touya, his quirk was stronger than my fathers, but his body couldn't handle it. He died wanting to prove his worth to my old man. My other siblings never got any attention from him, they weren't good enough for him, but I was. The scar on my face? It's not the only one I have because of him. I survived, unlike Touya, and you did too. I know I'm not the best at the whole social clues and friendship thing, but I'm not stupid. I can see your pain because I feel the same one. I do not mean to overstep, but I wanted you to know that if you needed to you could talk to me. Oh and I heard you do analysis, so if there's any info you have on my father, please, let me know.” Izuku was staring at him in disbelief, he wasn't exactly the best at social cues and all that yazz either, but he didn't think telling someone your whole life story was a “second conversation” thing, then again he did kinda do that to Hitoshi so who was he to judge. “I- Todoroki, are you okay?” He asked the teen, still staring at him. “No, but I don't think you are either.”

“Well you'd be right about that one.” Izuku laughed.

Shoto was happy, which was good because he hasn't been in a while. He had decided to talk to Midoriya and he thought it went pretty well, the boy even laughed! Now he was looking through his instagram (Mina had forced him to make an account during the second week in the dorms) and desperately trying not to like any posts, it was in fact a challenge. From what he was seeing he thought the boy was pretty cool. There were a few photos of cats, one orange and one black, a few shots of nature, they looked professional. Maybe Midoriya liked photography, he should ask him. And one photo of a kid, probably Midoriya since it was his account, and another boy, he looked a bit older but he had the same look in his eyes as Midoriya did, sadness, was he also quirkless? (Todoroki did his research after seeing the fight between Midoriya and Bakugo, he wasn't as clueless as everyone thought.) Was he a friend? The description read “Rest In Peace<33 2XXX - 2XXX, forever 16🕊️” Oh. He hadn't known about that, he should tell Midoriya he's sorry. Or maybe he shouldn't? This was too confusing.. He should ask Mina!

“Mina, I need to speak to you.” He said, ripping his classmate away from her conversation. “Oh, sure Todo, what's up?” She chirped, how was she always this energetic? “If I've only talked to someone twice, but  feel like we bonded and I find out someone they were close to died, should I give them my condolences?” The boy asked. “Damn.. That's kinda deep, man. Uhh.. You don't have to but if you want to then sure, I don't think it'd be too weird. Is that all? I still need to explain why Mario Kart is better than Mario Party to Denki.” Mina replied, giving the boy a soft smile once he nodded and walking away. Texting Midoriya it is.

Notshoto : Hi Midoriya, this is Todoroki.

Notshoto : I found your instagram, I wanted to say sorry about your friend.

Cats4Izu : Oh hi!

Cats4Izu : Thank you, it's been a year already, so yk, but still

Cats4Izu : Thanks:)

Notshoto : Do you wanna talk?

Cats4Izu : About what?

Notshoto : I don't know, friends talk to each other, right?

Notshoto : Oh wait

Notshoto : Do you wanna be my friend?

Cats4Izu : Wow, you're one odd guy

Cats4Izu : Sure

Notshoto : I'm glad.

Notshoto : You seem like an interesting person.

Cats4Izu : Thanks?

Notshoto : You're welcome :)

Cats4Izu : So, what do you wanna talk about?

They ended up talking till around 4 am (“Did you know if you were to jump from the tallest building in Japan you'd only be falling for around 8 seconds?” “No I did not know that, Midoriya. Why did you know that?”) and at some point they got to the.. Bakugo part or whatever you want to call it.

Notshoto: If I may ask, what happened with Bakugo?

Cats4Izu: Okay, so basically, I've known him ever since we were kids, like infants and once his quirk manifested, everyone in his life told him he was the best, that he'd rise to the top without even trying and once my quirk didn't manifest, they had already beaten the “quirkless = useless” narrative into his brain. It's not his fault but he did start bullying me, it was pretty bad and well, now we're here I guess..

Notshoto: He's still a bully though.

Notshoto : Just because he was taught that doesn't mean he's off the hook, he's fifteen, he can make his own decisions.

Cats4Izu : Oh.

Cats4Izu : I never thought about it like that..

Cats4Izu : Thank you

Notshoto : That's what friends do :)

Todoroki and him had gotten closer and closer over the weeks, talking almost every night, sending each other good morning texts and staying up to call. It was nice having another friend, don't get him wrong, Izuku loves Hitoshi, he was his best friend and he wouldn't trade him for anything, but it was nice to have two friends now. And Todoroki was surprisingly funny, though he probably didn't know about it himself, the boy was quite oblivious.

It was Friday night, the day they were supposed to go home for the weekend, since Izuku's guardians now lived at UA full time, he could choose to stay at the dorms with the other kids who didn't want to go home or he could go to the teachers dormitory.

Cats4Izu : Hey, are you going home this weekend?

Notshoto : No, I'm staying at the dorms.

Notshoto : Are you?

Cats4Izu : No, I'm staying as well, we should have a sleepover!! I can introduce you to Toshi!

Notshoto : Okay!!

Shoto had no idea how sleepovers worked, he's never had one before and google wasn't exactly helpful. In the end he had shown up in front of Midoriya's dorm with a blanket, snacks and an overnight bag. “I really hope he likes sour worms… I like them, they're a good snack, right?” Shoto wondered as he knocked on the door, mentally preparing himself. “Hi!!” The door swung open, Midoriya grinning at him from behind it. “Hello.” Shoto smiled. “Okay, so this is my room and this-” Midoriya gestured to a purple haired boy who was sitting on the floor, “Is my brother, Hitoshi!” The teen looked up at him and waved. “Hi.” Shoto replied, looking around the dorm, he noticed Midoriya had fairy lights, he liked those too! Another thing they had in common, Shoto smiled. “Uhh, hey. You can call me Hitoshi if you want, I don't really like my last name anyway.” Hitoshi told him, pointing at the floor as he did. Shoto sat down and smiled at the two in front of him. “Okay, call me Shoto please, I don't really like mine either.”

“Hate our last names buddies! So call me Izuku, To- Shoto.” Izuku giggled as he took out his laptop, he had a bunch of stickers on it, Eraserhead and other heroes, some anime and manga and even ghibli studios ones! “I like your stickers..” Shoto mumbled, looking at the boy. “Oh, thanks!” he replied. “Anyways, what do you want to watch? I have some movies downloaded but I also know a lot of, definitely legal, websites that we could watch something on!” He continued and Shoto smiled, he liked it here.

They ended up agreeing on watching Hereditary, Shoto had never heard of it but Hitoshi seemed pretty happy and Izuku said it was one of his favourites so he went along with it. They grabbed the snacks he brought, some blankets and settled on the floor. “Oh, just so you know, it's a horror movie, so uh, be prepared?” Izuku added, grabbing a pillow off of his bed. “Oh. Okay” Shoto replied, “..This is going to be embarrassing, what if I get scared?” The boy thought, pulling the blanket up to cover himself. He ended up being fine, he did get scared a few times (“WHERE'S HER HEAD? IZUKU, WHERE'S HER HEAD?”), but he wasn't the only one (“SHE'S ON FIRE?” Hitoshi yelled, shaking his friend back and forth.), so it was fine.

Izuku was excited to say the least, his two friends hanging out together with him? Somebody pinch him, this has to be a dream! But he was also worried, not about Hitoshi and Shoto not getting along, but about, well, himself. What if he did something weird? What if he messes up and they both hate him and he becomes the same useless loser he was before? It was.. worrying to say the least. However, so far it seemed like it was going great, they liked the movie he showed them, even though it was from the pre-quirk era and they didn't hate his idea to play UNO either! He was slightly regretting his decision as he watched Hitoshi scream at Shoto over a ´plus two´ card, but it was all fun and games.. he hoped. “I HATE THIS FUCKING GAME I DON'T WANNA LOSE!” Hitoshi yelled, taking said two cards and sitting back down. “It's just two cards and we only just started, Izuku calm your brother down.” Shoto replied. “Hitoshi come on! You're scaring my friend, do you want me to not have friends again?” He added, making puppy eyes at his brother who playfully showed him and scoffed “Manipulators, all of you”. Shoto ended up winning, even though he forgot to say UNO once he only had one card, and Hitoshi ended up fake crying, acting as if this was the biggest betrayal known to mankind. It was kinda funny, Shoto seemed to think so at least.

“Alright boys, the bed is mine!” Hitoshi declared, grinning at the two before jumping onto Izuku's bed, messing up the cluster of plushies. “And who decided that?” The green haired boy questioned joyfully. “Uh.. I deserve it since I have insomnia, goodnight floor people!” The other teen yelled before turning off the light. “Immature… Shoto which mattress do you want? I think the one on the left is a bit more comfortable but it's totally up to you!” Izuku turned to him, giving him a soft smile as he gestured to the two makeshift beds on the floor. “Oh, I don't mind, anything is fine.” Shoto replied, awkwardly looking between the mattresses and his friend. “Alright, take the left then. Oh also, if anything happens during the night don't hesitate to wake me up!!” He chirped, grabbing his blanket and laying down, “Goodnight, Shoto.” He continued.

“Goodnight, Izuku.”

Hitoshi was the first to wake up, his new sleeping pills granted him about five to six hours of sleep with only minimal nightmares and night terrors, so once the clock hit seven he was up, not particularly happy about it, but he was awake. As he got up to get some coffee from the kitchen he looked down at his brother and his friend. Izuku was now hugging Shoto as if his life depended on it, of course he took pictures before leaving the two alone. Once he got his coffee he sat down in the common room, scrolling through instagram and waiting for his brother to wake up. How would he know you ask? Izuku was a screamer. If startled or scared he'd scream at the top of his lungs and Hitoshi was sure that this would startle him, in some capacity at least.

And he was right.

Just as he was going for his third sip a loud shriek filled the dorms.

Izuku woke up a bit confused, he had one of his nightmares again, the ones about his middle school days weren't as bad but it still hurt, but what confused him even more was that he was hugging something. He was pretty sure he left all his plushies on the bed, so what was he hugging? Once he took a closer look at the thing he realized it wasn't a thing at all, it was Shoto. He screamed in embarrassment, quickly jumping up from the mattress and turning redder than a tomato. Only it woke Shoto up, “..Izuku, are you okay?” He yawned, looking at him. “Yeah, haha, so okay, great and awesome!” He tried to chuckle, telling himself “Don't act suspicious!” It didn't work. “Uhh, you don't really look okay. You're really red, do you have a fever?” Shoto asked, looking worried. “NO! Uhm, no, no, I'm okay, really, just freaked when I didn't see Hitoshi before realizing he probably went to the bathroom or something, yup that's it!” He continued explaining himself, hoping he was a better liar now than he was before. “Damn, I heard that scream in the common room, you two good?” Hitoshi leaned against the door frame, smirking at his brother. “Yup, everything and everyone is ok! Let's never talk about this again!” Izuku raised his voice, looking Hitoshi straight into his eyes. “Sure.” The boy replied, chuckling.

“IS EVERYONE OKAY? I HEARD SCREAMING!” Fukui's voice beamed through the dorms, as class president they liked to make sure everyone was comfortable at all times. “I'm never living this down, am I?” He asked the two, giving them a weak smile before running to his classmate to assure them no one died.

“Soo..” Hitoshi said playfully, “So?” Izuku asked. “Well, I couldn't help but notice how close you and Shoto are now, wanna tell me something about that?” The boy teased. “Oh shut up!” Izuku joshed, throwing a pillow at his brother. “What? I'm just saying, you look at him like a lost puppy!” Hitoshi continued. “I do not!” He argued, acting offended at the remark. “Oh you do! Remember last week?”

“Shut up.” Izuku said, defeated. “I just- God, I don't know!  It's so weird to suddenly experience all this, two loving parents, a friend and a brother and now this? I don't understand it at all..” He grumbled, locking his gaze onto the wooden floor. “You don't have to understand, I think. Yeah, it's harder for the less lucky of us, but it's hard for everyone, especially at this age. You can tell him or you can keep it a secret, maybe one day you won't feel like this anymore, but that's up to you. Anyway, I don't really know what I'm saying so if something gets fucked it's not on me!” Hitoshi said, joining his brother in the intense stare down of the floor. “Sometimes you're really smart.” Izuku added.

“Yeah I am- WAIT, DID YOU SAY SOMETIMES?!”

“..No?”

“Fuyumi?” Shoto spoke into the phone, it had been a few days since he had called his sister and there were a few things that were bugging him anyway. “Hi Shoto! How have you been?” His sister bubbled, he could practically hear her smile. “I am good. How do I tell if I like someone?” Fuyumi gasped slightly, probably caught off guard by said question. “Oh- Well, I'm glad you're doing well.. And uhm.. Well how does this girl- How does this person make you feel?” She asked, “Happy..” He stops, how does Izuku make him feel? He makes his stomach feel all weird and tingly, like he had a thousand butterflies inside. He makes him feel warm, warmer than his own fire. He makes him feel like he isn't just his father, like that guy from Shiketsu said. He makes him feel like his own life is something worth fighting for. “Like I'm a good person. He makes me feel alive.” Is what he settles on, it's the truth after all and he doesn't think his sister minds not being told absolutely everything. “Well then,” She starts, her smile creeping back into her voice, “I think you do like this boy, Shoto. Now tell me about him.” She smiles and Shoto does as told.

Notes:

Hello hello, if you're asking yourselves "Savo, how did it take you so long to write a 2K word chapter?" fret not, I have the answer! I had insane writers block and a depressive episode. Also school has been kicking my ass, "But art school is easier" Fuck no. I will be crashing out. Anyways, I am now doing better, no longer want to die, am somewhat caught up on my assignments and hopefully will get back to posting a bit more normally. This was supposed to be a part of a longer chapter, but I felt bad leaving you all hanging so I hope you enjoyed and till next time!

Chapter Text

“So, Katsuki, this is our sixth session, what do you wanna talk about today?” The psychologist asked, a soft smile on his face.

“I don’t fucking care..” He replied, looking down at the floor.

“Do you have any plans for the holidays? Any friends or family you’re going to visit?”

“We’re gonna see my grandparents I guess, but that’s it.. My friends don’t want me at their gatherings anymore.”

“Why is that?”

Katsuki scoffed. What do you think? Maybe because I blew up their fucking classmate just cause he’s quirkless? He looked up at the doctor, quickly muttering something.

“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t quite hear you, what did you say?” The man asked, still smiling.

“Cause I was a fucking dick, okay?! Is that what you want to hear? Huh?” He snapped.

“Katsuki, all I want to hear is the truth. I’m here to help you go through this and become a better person, alright?”

“Alright..”

“Now, why don’t you tell me about those friends?”

For Christmas Izuku and Hitoshi had decided to go home, afterall Aizawa and Yamada would be going home too and seeing the cats would be nice. “Alright, do you two have everything?” Yamada asked, one hand on the steering wheel. “Yeah, we do!” Izuku replied with a smile, plopping his bag under his feet before sitting down in the back seat of the car. “Alright, let’s go!” The man cheered.

As soon as they walked through the door, two fluffy balls ran up to their feet. “Well hello there, Princess!” Exclaimed Izuku, immediately dropping to his knees to pet the orange cat, at the same time Hitoshi walked over to Bastard, the black bombay. From the kitchen emerged Aizawa, his statement pink sweatpants on, “Hey, how was the ride?” He asked, walking over to Yamada and giving him a kiss. “Oh, it was fine. Not a lot of traffic today, thank God” said Yamada, “Sooo, what’s for dinner?” he added, making slight puppy eyes at his husband. “I made chicken katsudon, figured Izuku would like it.” the man replied, looking at the two. “Thank you my love! I’ll set the table.” Yamada whispered before disappearing into the kitchen, Aizawa following after him, “You two, wash your hands and come eat! Those two little idiots can wait.” he yelled from the kitchen.

“Thank you for the food, Aizawa, it’s great!” Izuku chirped, his mouth full of rice. “Thanks kid, and call me Shota, Aizawa is way too formal, we’re not at school.” Aizawa mumbled, softly smiling at the boy. Just as Izuku was about to argue Yamada roared “That is such a great idea! I wanted to ask you two to start calling me Hizashi as well.” So instead of arguing Izuku just nodded, they were right anyway, it’s been months and they’re his guardians so it did make sense to use their first name. “Uhm, Aizawa, shit, Shota, Denki texted me, asking if we’d be free on the 24th, he said him and a few friends wanted to make a small gathering for class 1-A and since we’d be joining after the new year he also wanted to introduce us more, could me and Izuku go?” Hitoshi muttered as if he expected to get yelled at. “Sure, as long as you don’t drink I think it’s a great idea. Me and Hizashi are going to go to a restaurant anyway. Will you sleep there or should we pick you up?” Shota questioned, “Oh, uhm, he said we can stay over if we want to.” Hitoshi replied, smiling at Izuku as he spoke. “Alright then, should we go buy some gifts?”

The two walked into Hitoshi’s room, clear excitement on their faces. “Oh my god I can’t believe we got invited to a party and they actually allowed us to go!” Izuku cheered, sitting down onto the bed. “It’s actually insane! Oh and don’t worry, Bakugo isn’t going to be there, Denki told me.” The other boy replied, smiling at Izuku who nodded, his smile fading away for a second before turning back up, “Since when do you call him Denki?” He teased.

“Fuck off and die.”

“Oh okay, brutal.” He laughed, shoving Hitoshi. “Anyways, have you ever been to a party?” He asked, “Nope, you?” Hitoshi questioned back. “Me neither, what the fuck are you supposed to do there?” Izuku answered, laughing quietly as he did so. “Hmm, I don’t know. Drink? Play games?” Hitoshi replied, grabbing his phone, “Hold on, I’ll google it.”

“Okay, so, ´Succeed Socially´ says; talking, various entertaining distractions, which apparently means watching something, board or video games, snacks, dancing, karaoke, bonfires, swimming or some other main event, drinking and hooking up. Well, sounds fun.” Hitoshi continued, ending his statement sarcastically. “Oh come on, I’m sure it’ll be fun! No hooking up for me though, thank you very much.” Izuku laughed. “Yeah yeah. Well, I need to go shower, you heading to bed?” Hitoshi asked, grabbing his pajamas from the chair and heading towards the door.

“Yeah, I’m pretty tired today. Goodnight, Hitoshi.” Izuku smiled and left the boy’s room, heading to his own.

Once he got there, he closed the door as quietly as he could, quickly heading to his bathroom and locking the door. There he grabbed the small rectangle box, opening it and taking the little envelope out. Inside it was his whole world, the only medicine that truly worked, the sertraline his psychiatrist prescribed didn’t do shit anyway (It’s only been a week, of course it doesn’t work yet). He opened the envelope and grabbed the razor, pressing the steel into the skin of his thigh, letting the warm blood run down his legs, staining the bathroom floor. He’s learned since coming here, learned where not to cut so the Aizawa-Yamadas wouldn’t see, wouldn’t wonder. Learned it was best to cut if they were long asleep or when they thought he was in the shower, he had more control that way, no need to worry about them coming in or getting suspicious when he took too long to open the door. Learned that he could fit his first aid kit under the sink cabinet, they wouldn’t see it there even if they came into his bathroom. He learned how to hide it better than he had before. And it worked– It actually worked! (He didn’t see the way Hizashi looked at him when his sleeves slid up) They hadn’t asked him about it since the third week at their place, haven’t even wondered! So now he was finally free, free to do what his mind desired and that was this. That was cutting his flesh open and letting his blood spill over the tiles.

Once he was satisfied enough with the red on his thigh he grabbed the first aid kit and sprayed on some disinfection, wrapping his leg in gauze and pulling his pant sleeve back over it, a soft smile on his face. Now he could sleep a little better.

The 24th came quickly, which was to be expected, but it was still a bit too quick for the teens' taste, this was their first party and the first time they met all of 1A casually after all. Right now they were both standing in Izuku’s room, he was staring at himself in the mirror while Hitoshi was struggling with his pants, his legs kept going through the holes. “Is this okay?” Izuku asked, turning over to face his brother, gesturing to his clothes, jeans, a red flannel and a white graphic tee. “Yeah, of course!” Hitoshi replied, giving his brother a smile before returning to his pants. “If you say so..”

“Alright boys! Time for the party, are you excited?” Hizashi beamed, accidentally using his quirk as he spoke. “Yeah, I can’t wait!” Izuku told him, almost as excited as his guardian was. “Alright, grab your jackets and let’s go, we need to make it in time for our reservation and I’m sure you don’t want to be late as well.” Shota grinned from the hallway, car keys in his hand. “Coming!” Hitoshi yelled back.

The car ride was quiet, occasionally interrupted by Hizashi singing to the songs on the radio or Shota asking if they were excited.

It took about thirty minutes to get to Kaminari’s home, a big traditional house with a splash of modern architecture. “Damn, I didn’t know Kaminari was rich.” Izuku gasped once he got out of the car, “Me neither.” Hitoshi added. “Alright, have fun, be responsible and call once you wake up! Bye!” Hizashi yelled out the window, Shota just waved and they were on their way. The two stood there, waving at their guardians before walking to the door. “Imagine if we got lost inside.” Izuku laughed. “Don’t even joke about that, it could actually happen!” His brother said, fake worry in his voice. “Alright, let’s wait for that dumbass to open the door.” He continued as he knocked on the door, taking a step back.

The door flew open after a few seconds, Kaminari standing behind it, a wide smile on his face. “Hitoshi, Midoriya! Come in! We’re still waiting for Ochaco and Tenya, so make yourselves comfortable. I hope you can play UNO!” The teen blurted out, rushing them inside as he spoke. “Hi! Thank you for inviting us.” Izuku smiled, walking through the beige colored hall. “Yeah Denki, thanks. Nice house by the way.” Hitoshi added, looking at the paintings decorating the walls. “Ah thanks, I’m pretty sure my parents love it more than they love me!” Kaminari said, quickly slapping his hand over his mouth “Ignore that, I already drank a bit. That reminds me! The drinks are in the kitchen! I need to go grab more balloons but I’m sure Mina will help you out if you ask!” he continued before turning down another hallway and disappearing into a different room, leaving the two standing in the living room.

“Hi!” Ashido screamed, spilling a bit of her drink onto the floor as she did. “OKAY! Since the new kids are here, let’s play an introduction game!” She continued, her voice beaming with excitement. “Oh god, not another one.” Izuku looked at his brother, slightly amused and slightly terrified. “Don’t worry! We can play Never Have I Ever if everyone’s okay with it?” Kirishima chimed in, what followed was a bunch of Yeah’s and Sure’s.

“Alright! I’ll start.” Asui chirped, “Never have I ever.. Cheated on a test!” She continued, looking around to see who’ll drink. Almost everyone took a sip before Jirou spoke “My turn! Never have I ever gotten blackout drunk.” This time only a few drank.

They continued playing for ten minutes, at some point Kaminari returned with the balloons and the group started blowing them up, then Uraraka and Iida arrived. “Sorry we’re late everyone! There was quite a lot of traffic. What are we playing?” Iida said, flapping his arms in the air as he spoke. “Never Have I Ever!” Someone yelled in response.

After three rounds of the game the crowd of students scattered, breaking up into smaller groups, leaving Izuku sitting alone since Hitoshi had ran off with Kaminari.

“Hello, Izuku.” a monotone voice rang out behind him, startling him.

“Oh, hi Shoto!” he said as he turned around to face his friend.

“How do you like the party?”

“Uhm, well I mean, it’s nice, but uh, big crowds and loud spaces aren’t really.. My thing. You know?”

Shoto nodded, immediately getting up and walking closer to Izuku, “Denki said if anyone needs to “get away” they can use one of the bedrooms with a check mark on them. Do you wanna go?” he asked, gesturing to one of the beige doors.

“Why not, sure.” Izuku smiled and started heading towards the room.

Once they walked in Izuku sat down on the bed and Shoto quietly closed the door, sitting down beside him right after. For a while they just awkwardly stared at each other, avoiding eye contact. Izuku was the first to break the silence;

“So, what do you wanna talk about?”

The other teen seemed to think about it, considering his options before speaking up. “Can I ask about Bakugo? You can ask me about my father in return, if you wish so.”

“Uhm.. Sure.” He laughed uncomfortably, hoping Shoto didn’t notice.

“What exactly happened between you two?”

“What did happen between us? The short answer is we grew apart and Katsuki became bitter, angry, mean.”

He laughed.

“The long answer is that the world we live in is corrupted, separating people into two groups “Strong; to be celebrated” and “Weak; to be tormented” and me and Katsuki were born into different groups, he was praised like a God while I was pushed around like a stray dog.”

Tears formed in his eyes.

“The long answer is that my whole life I have been pushed down by people and Katsuki was one of them, he was the one who made me hate himself the most, the one who caused the most pain, the one who told me to kill myself..”

Izuku took a breath, trying to keep the tears inside.

“He wasn’t the only one who said it, by the way, he’s just the one who’s voice I hear it in when I repeat it to myself.”

Shoto reached for his hand as he spoke, squeezing it.

“I already told you we used to be friends, well we were friends even after my diagnosis, only for a while though. The first two months he was still nice, well, as nice as Katsuki Bakugo can be. We still played heroes and watched movies together, he still smiled when I talked about All Might and when he’d use his quirk I wouldn’t flinch. But after a while all the comments from the other kids, parents and even teachers got to him and when I went to say hi in the morning he burned me for the first time, I don’t think he meant to, he looked.. Scared.”

Izuku sniffled, reminiscing on that memory, on how wide his old friend's eyes were as he cried.

“And after that I wasn’t allowed to play with him anymore, even if I spoke to him I’d get yelled at. In elementary school some of the older kids would pick on me as well and I think Katsuki wanted them to like him so he copied them. They were meaner, their words stung more, but no matter what they said it wouldn’t hurt more than when he said something. And once junior high came I hated him. No, that’s a lie. I didn’t hate him, I still don’t, I hate who he became, the version of him that burned me when I was four, the him that told me I was useless when I was seven, the him that told me to jump when I was fourteen.”

He couldn’t stop the tears anymore, they flew down his cheeks, carefully caressing them as he spoke.

“In junior high it became physical, or more physical I guess. The teachers there didn’t care, as long as Katsuki was strong everything was fine. So he’d practice his quirk on me, burning me daily while the teacher complimented his aim. The other kids got meaner too, he wasn’t the only one who’d hit me or use his quirk on me. My stuff got destroyed daily, I learned to only carry my school books and nothing more, to always have my bag with me, never leave my stuff in my locker, to change into my PE clothes in the bathrooms and hide my clothes in supply closets. Every morning I’d clean my desk from all the insults scribbled on it in sharpie, throw away the razor blades and spider lilies, check the chair for any paint or other thing that could’ve been put on there. It became routine..”

He paused, not knowing what to say next.

“S-So I guess what happened was always destined to happen.. He was born to be.. Uhm, to be great, to succeed while I was born to fail, to d-die young and miserable.”

Once he finished speaking he was full on sobbing, holding onto Shoto’s hand for dear life.

“I-” The boy tried to speak, his voice getting stuck in his throat, eyes watering. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s alright, you’re not the one who did it, are you?” Izuku said and Shoto nodded hesitantly.

“Your turn.”

“What’s it really like?” Izuku questions. “Being the son of Endeavor?”

“You already know why I was born, what happened to my brother, what happened to all of my siblings, that’s the short story, the easy one I suppose.

The truth, the longer version, it’s not pretty.

When I was four I got my quirk, like most children do. That day my father celebrated while my mother cried, she came into my room and apologized. That day I lost every chance of ever having a childhood.

From that day on it was nonstop training. I’d wake up, eat breakfast, train, eat lunch, train, eat dinner, train, sleep.

Every. Day.

The training wasn’t mild, it wasn’t suited for a child, it was just hero training.

My father would do anything to make my quirk stronger. Beat me, burn me, destroy me .”

Shoto paused for a second before speaking up again.

“It wasn’t just me that was suffering.

Touya was killing himself, training despite my fathers efforts to stop him.

Fuyumi, my sister, was playing adult, bandaging up my wounds, cleaning, helping out with cooking while crying herself to sleep every night, begging our dad to love her too in her sleep.

Natsuo, my brother, grew angry, he didn’t show it to us - only my father. He’d scream and cry, kick and bite. Father always said he was a brat, throwing tantrums like a baby. I think he was doing what Fuyumi was, begging him to see him.

My mother suffered the abuse as well, he’d hit her, kick her, scream at her. He didn’t love her, I don’t think he ever did until it was too late.

She lost herself.

Her fear was what controlled her in the end - she gave me the scar..

She saw my left side and saw him, the fear inside her took over and she burned my face with burning water, the scar itself is from the frost bite she gave me after realizing what she had done.

My father was the only one not suffering. He had what he wanted, a masterpiece.”

The boy took a deep breath, one that he so desperately needed, a soft choking noise escaped his lips as he did so before he broke down crying.

“Oh, Shoto..” Izuku whispered as he hugged his friend, running small circles over his back with his fingers. “I’m so sorry..” he added, hugging him tighter.

They sat there, hugging and crying, for ten more minutes before Shoto once again spoke,

“Why is the world cruel?”

“I don’t know.”

Izuku replied.

“Oh, hey! I was wondering where you were!” Hitoshi yelled after Izuku, his cheeks flushed red, Denki standing beside him. His brother turned around to face him, giving him a soft smile that almost distracted Hitoshi from the fact that his eyes were bloodshot red. “Oh shit - did something happen? Are you okay? Do I need to kill someone?” He questioned his brother, worry evident in his voice.

“I’m alright, don’t worry. Me and Shoto had a deep talk, that’s all.” Izuku replied, still smiling.

“Okay, thank god.. You scared me, asshole.”

“HEY, WHO ARE YOU CALLING AN ASSHOLE?” The teen yelled at him, chuckling as he did so.

“Everyone!!” Kaminari’s voice beamed from the living room, “We’re gonna do karaoke, get over here!” he continued, waving over to the TV.

At ten in the evening the crowd around the TV started disappearing, some leaving to go do their own thing, others already going home. Now there were just Hitoshi, Jirou and Kaminari, singing their hearts out to some Panic! At The Disco song, Izuku was sitting next to Shoto, a drink Ashido gave him in hand. He grimaced as he took a sip, the sting of the alcohol hitting his throat, “I can’t believe people actually drink this!” He said, looking over at his friend. “I mean, it does make everything funnier, so I guess I get it.” Shoto added, taking a sip out of his own cup. “Still.. Ew.” Izuku laughed. After a minute of silence Shoto spoke up, “I’ll have to leave soon, Natsuo will come pick me up.” He smiled at Izuku.

“Oh alright, are you staying with him today?”

“Yeah, I don’t want to see my dad, especially not like this.”

“Yeah I get that..”

The two fell into silence once more,

“Hey, uhm.. I think I should tell you something?” Izuku said, framing his sentence as a question.

“Hm?”

“Okay, I’m gonna regret this in the morning - I think I like you, I mean, you’re just such an amazing person and I know we haven’t known each other for too long but I’ve never met someone who understands me like you do! I don’t know, I’m sorry..”

“Oh.. Izuku there’s actually-” Shoto began to speak but he was interrupted by Kirishima yelling from the hallway, “YO! Shoto, your brother is here, hurry up man!”

Izuku looked at his friend, his face bright red, “Well uhh, it was nice seeing you, take care and I’ll see you after break!” He stammered out before running away towards Hitoshi, leaving Shoto at the table, his sentence remaining unfinished.

“Bye, Izuku..”

At midnight everyone had left, leaving only Izuku, Hitoshi, Denki and Ashido to clean up.

“Hey, Izuku, are you okay?” Hitoshi asked, putting the drinks back into the fridge as he did so.

“Hitoshi.. I’m an idiot, never let me drink again.” His brother replied, face once again turning red.

“Woah woah, what happened?”

“I told Shoto I like him!” He cried out, tears forming in his eyes, “He’s gonna hate me now! What am I supposed to do?”

“Well, did he say he hates you?”

“...No.”

“Then he doesn’t. It’ll be okay, and if not I’ll fight him or something, don’t worry! Now come help me clean up the glitter.”

“Okay..”

“THERE’S GLITTER?!” Denki yelled from the living room as Ashido laughed.

The new year passed by quickly, Izuku and Hitoshi went to a temple with their guardians and went out for dinner afterwards, and now it was time to start the hero course.

As he stood in front of UA he got a sense of Deja Vu, remembering his first day.

“Toshi, I’m terrified.” He shivered, staring at the entrance gate.

“We’ll be fine, we have each other, right?”

“Yeah..”

“Alright, everyone sit down. Since this is the first day back and Nedzu decided I should be “nicer”, we’re not gonna be learning anything during this class, instead we’ll do a bonding exercise,” Shota bellowed, staring at the class with red eyes until they quieted down, “Jesus Christ somebody kill me..” he continued, muttering under his scarf. “Everyone tell us what you did during break.” He commanded, sounding more annoyed than when Bastard decided to go on a hunger strike for two days.

“I went to visit family in Tokyo!”

“My sister came back from university.”

“I read three books.”

“I had a karate competition!”

“My parents took me to the cinema.”

“I went to France!”

The class beamed with excitement, everyone more than happy to share and brag about what they did. Kaminari mentioned the party, Bakugo his grandparents, Shoto his brother, Izuku and Hitoshi both talked about the temple and Iida talked about his brother as well, apparently he made a lot of progress in his recovery!

After the whole class got a chance to talk Shota took out some sheets from his bag, “Get into pairs of two, someone you don’t speak with and fill these out, you have 40 minutes.” He announced, leaving the kids to deal with the assignment.

Izuku ended up being in a pair with Tokoyami, they were supposed to ask each other some questions and then fill out the sheets based on what they learned, a fairly easy exercise. He ended up learning quite a lot actually, Tokoyami really likes psychological horror and poetry, his favourite color is red (“Oh that’s my favourite color too, that’s so cool!”) and he had a dog when he was younger! It was nice to talk to someone who didn’t judge him for something he can’t control, Tokoyami seemed like a really nice guy.

The classes seemed to go by quickly after that, English with Hizashi and Math with Ectoplasm followed by Modern Hero Art History with Midnight seemed like just seconds when he could finally feel like he belonged, it was nice. Izuku finally felt like he could exist, like he had a right to be happy.

But then lunch came.

“Izuku, would you like to sit with me and my friends?” Shoto asked, giving the boy a slight smile.

“Of course!” He replied, eyes wide with excitement, Hitoshi had already told him he was gonna go sit with Kaminari and his friends, of course Izuku was welcomed at their table as well but he didn’t want to get between whatever was happening there. And Shoto had seemed like he had forgotten about what happened during the Christmas party so of course he had to say yes!

“Alright, follow me then.” Shoto said as he took off, walking towards the cafeteria.

The table that he stopped at had three people already sitting there, Uraraka, Iida and Tsuyu, the three looked at them and smiled.

“Hello, Midoriya.” Iida greeted as the two sat down, raising his hands as he often did when he spoke.

“Hi!” Uraraka and Tsuyu both said at the same time before turning to face each other and giggling.

“Hello!” Izuku replied, smiling at the group before taking his bento out. They were nice, Uraraka had actually talked to him once, after the joint training, she came over to apologize for not stepping in while Bakugo was, well, being Bakugo, he of course didn’t hold it against her, it’s not like anyone has ever stepped in before anyway.. Tsuyu and Iida were also very nice, they seemed genuinely interested when he talked about heroes and quirks, even asking him follow up questions and dismissing his apologies about talking too much! Overall it was supposed to be a good day, a good lunch. But of course it had to be ruined.

Izuku was eating his miso soup when he caught a glimpse of Bakugo, he looked like shit. Dark eyebags under his eyes, barely touching his food, sitting alone, it was depressing to look at. And frankly, Izuku felt like shit. It was his fault that his childhood best friend looked so miserable. Bakugo was always popular, happy, confident. But now? Now he looked like him in middle school, lonely, sad, desperate. All because of Izuku.

He could feel the knot in his throat, the nausea overcoming him, his fault. The words replayed in his head like it was the only thing he knew.

Your fault.

It’s your fault.

YOUR FAULT.

IT’S YOUR FAULT.

YOUR.

FAULT.

YOUR.

FAULT.

“I need to use the restroom, I’ll be right back!”

The smile on his face burned more than the explosions. Fake.

His breath was too quick, too painful, too short. Don’t suffocate, Deku.

The tears stang, marking his cheeks like the scars on his wrists. You deserved those, you know?

It’s your fault he looks like that.

It’s your fault he has no friends.

Look at him.

Awh, how sad.

You’ve turned into a bully, causing someone to lose all he had.

You’re a horrible person.

The world would be better off without you.

…Take a swandive off the roof and pray that you’ll be born with a quirk in your next life.

That last thought woke him up, dragging him back to reality. The cold bathroom tile made him shiver, the tears were still falling, his hands shook. A knock on the door, a sentence covered by the ringing in his ears. Another knock, another sentence.

´Izuku you need to focus, someone is clearly talking to you!´

Nobody cares enough to talk to you. You should just die alrea-

“Izuku? Are you in there? You’ve been gone for a while, we started to get worried.” Shoto’s voice rang from the outside of the stall, shaky.

“Ah, I’m sorry I’m just not feeling great, I guess I ate something bad, I’ll be right back!” He tried his best to reply without giving away his crying, praying his voice wouldn’t crack.

“Oh okay, I hope you feel better soon.” The boy replied.

Izuku waited for his footsteps to disappear before wiping his tears and doing his best to stand up, quickly making his way towards the sink to wash his face.

He needed to do something about Bakugo before he went fucking crazy.

Notes:

I'M SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT BUT HERE'S A CHAPTER!!!
I really wanted to write more but I'm tired as fuck (I haven't slept properly in like three moths and it's currently 1:17AM lol) so hopefully this is enough for now.
I was fighting demons not to make those two gay asses kiss but I need to work on not making everything happen so fast, in the next chapter I'll try to write more about Katsuki because I'll be damned if he doesn't get a redemption arc.
Anyways, little life update - I am still struggling, but I now know, more than ever, that I have people that are there for me and I am really trying to get better. Also, I'm really gay for my best friend. Just thought I'd pop that in here lol.
Also, if you find the dialogs weird, I apologize, my social skills are non-existent and they're kinda the only thing I have to go off of so, my bad!!

That's all for this chapter (I know, a long end note, how not streotypical of me) I hope you enjoyed and until next time!
