Chapter Text
A female werewolf, cradling her werewolf daughter in her arms, anxiously waited on a rowing boat for her husband to escape a burning ship during a storm. The werewolf man, her husband, struggled to reach the safety of the rowing boat, but the vessel capsized, plunging him into the ocean. The werewolf woman's heart skipped a beat, fearing the worst for her beloved husband, but he swam towards the rowing boat and clambered aboard. Gasping for air, the werewolf man smiled lovingly at his daughter as she happily babbled.
Undeterred by the challenges, the werewolves arrived at an island with enormous mountains and hills and a vast and dense forest. As they ventured inside the forest, they found a tree perfect for building a treehouse. Over the next few days, the werewolves worked tirelessly, determined to construct their treehouse, which would be their new home.
Meanwhile
A pack of wolves peacefully rested in their dens when one of the leader's pups woke up and spotted a butterfly. Excitedly, the pup began to chase it, oblivious to the presence of a cougar nearby. The cougar evilly grinned and pursued the pup, letting out a fierce roar that woke the rest of the pack. Upon seeing the cougar, the pack leader immediately sprang into action and attacked it while the leader's mate hurried to rescue the pup. Unfortunately, the cub, traumatized by the cougar, tumbled off a cliff. Although the pack leader managed to drive the cougar away, he was left with a troubled pack, especially his mate, and feared the worst had occurred.
The pack went on a search for the pup the following morning. The pack leader’s brother, Wilson, saw the werewolf family’s treehouse and decided to break away from the pack. Wilson noticed that the bridge going to the treehouse had some holes, and the treehouse had holes as well. He went inside the treehouse and saw how ravaged it was inside. Wilson looked around and saw bloody pawprints on the floor but heard a noise that sounded like a crying baby.
Wilson walked toward the sound but stopped when he noticed he had stepped on glass. He looked on the floor and saw a broken flame with a picture of a werewolf family: a werewolf man, a werewolf woman, and their werewolf pup. Wilson saw a crib and slowly walked toward it. He used the crib to stand on two paws and look inside. Something was making noises and moving under a pink blanket.
Wilson took the blanket off and saw a werewolf pup, innocent and vulnerable, babbling only in her diaper. He sniffed the werewolf pup but yanked his nose away when he realized how bad it smelled. Despite the smell, Wilson couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness towards the werewolf pup. He took the werewolf pup out of the crib and placed her on the floor. He tried smelling the werewolf pup again, but she babbled and grabbed his nose.
Wilson took the werewolf pup’s paws off of his nose and rubbed it in pain, but he smiled and petted the werewolf pup. The werewolf pup placed her paw against Wilson’s paw and smiled and giggled. Wilson happily panted but stopped when he heard the roar of a cougar. A cougar suddenly jumped inside the treehouse, and Wilson immediately bit the werewolf pup to carry it. Wilson ran outside with the werewolf pup in his mouth and tried getting off the bridge, but the cougar suddenly jumped before him.
Wilson’s fright caused him to drop the werewolf pup accidentally, and it fell through one of the bridge’s holes. Luckily, the treehouse had a net under it, and the werewolf giggled as it rolled down. The cougar evilly smiled and created a hole in the bridge to get to the net under the treehouse. Wilson shivered, ran toward a wooden pole, and looked under to see if the werewolf pup was right under him. He saw the werewolf pup giggling and grabbed its diaper. Wilson tried picking the werewolf pup up, but the werewolf pup’s body wasn’t big enough to come out.
Wilson saw the cougar about to attack the werewolf pup, so he ran and dragged the pup under the bridge to confuse the cougar. The cougar hit its head against a rock attached to the bridge since it ran too fast. Wilson was able to pick up the werewolf pup from under the bridge, and he angrily growled at the cougar, still on the net. Wilson smiled and put the werewolf pup on his back as it babbled.
Wilson went back to his pack to introduce the werewolf pup to them.
“Wilson, what is that?” asked one of the wolves.
“I don’t know. I found her inside a tree,” sighed Wilson as the wolf pups rushed to see the werewolf pup.
“That pup is weird!” exclaimed one of the wolf pups, pointing at the werewolf pup.
“Wilmer!” growled the wolf pup’s mother.
“Mom! I’m not trying to be mean! I think the wolf pup’s cool,” whined Wilmer.
“What will you name her?” asked another wolf pup.
“Hmm… I think I’ll name her Wanda,” said Wilson, smiling as Wanda giggled. Wilson saw his brother coming and nervously smiled. “Oh, hey, Wasilei…”
Wasilei saw the werewolf pup and growled, “Wilson, what is that thing? Take it back.”
“Wasilei! She’s a baby! If I take her back to where she came from, she’ll die. I had to save her from a cougar, and that cougar probably killed her parents!” argued Wilson as Wasilei rolled his eyes. “She may not be a wolf, but she needs someone to care for her.”
“You can take her, but she’ll never become one of us; she won’t replace the pup we lost, and I won’t consider her part of the pack,” grumbled Wasilei, walking away as the rest of the pack followed.
Wilson sighed, but Wanda giggled and grabbed Wilson’s ear, making him smile.
Hours later, the pack prepared to go to bed. Wilson tried sleeping but heard Wanda whimpering.
“Shh, shh. It’s all right,” whimpered Wilson, trying to calm Wanda down as she whimpered more. Wilson put his tail around Wanda, and she slowly stopped whimpering. Wanda then yawned and closed her eyes. “Good night, little one.”
Five Years Later
Wilson woke up and stretched his legs. He looked around and noticed Wanda was gone.
“Wanda? Wanda?!” yelped Wilson, unaware of Wanda creeping behind him.
“Boo! Good morning, Daddy!” chuckled Wanda as Wilson sighed in relief. “Did I scare you?”
“Hehe, you sure did,” said Wilson, smiling. “You can play with your friends while I get us something to eat.”
Wanda nodded and ran out of the den eagerly but accidentally bumped into Wasilei.
“Oh, um,” whimpered Wanda nervously as Wasilei glared at her.
Wilmer suddenly came along and pushed Wanda out of the way.
“Sorry, Wasilei! Sometimes Wanda can be a little confused about her surroundings,” chuckled Wilmer nervously, taking Wanda with him.
“Thanks, Wilmer, I didn’t know what to do,” whimpered Wanda, putting her paw on her arm. “How do I get Wasilei to like me?”
“Hmm… Pretend Waslei’s not there, and don’t let him see you that much. He’ll probably like you eventually,” grumbled Wilmer. Wilmer heard his friends, Willow and Wendy, yelling his name.
“Wilmer! We’re going to the lake!” yelled Willow.
“All right, I’m coming. I gotta go, Wanda,” said Wilmer.
Before Wilmer could leave, Wanda asked, “WAIT! Can I come with you?”
“Well, you can if you can keep up,” chuckled Wilmer. He ran through the forest and eventually reached the lake. “Hello, guys!”
“Hiya, Wilmer!” chuckled Wendy. Willow and Wendy heard grunting and saw Wanda struggling to escape a bush. “Wilmer, don’t tell us you brought that wimp along.”
Wilmer looked back and saw Wanda nervously smiling.
“Wilmer said I could go with you guys if I could keep up with him,” chuckled Wanda nervously as Wilmer smiled at his friends.
“Give us a minute,” said Wilmer toward Willow and Wendy as they scoffed and rolled their eyes. Wilmer sighed and looked directly at Wanda. “Wanda, let’s talk for a bit.”
“Okay,” said Wanda.
“If you want my friends to accept you, you gotta do one thing,” said Wilmer, smirking. He pointed at a group of bears gathering fish inside the lake. “You gotta get some bear fur.”
“WHAT?” yelled Wanda as she looked down at the bears. Willow and Wendy snickered softly. “That’s impossible!”
“She’s too scared,” whispered Willow into Wendy’s ear as she giggled.
“All right, Wanda. If it’s impossible for you, go home,” chuckled Wilmer nervously as Wanda left. Wilmer smiled at Willow and Wendy. “I don’t think she’ll come back.”
“WEEE!” yelped Wanda, jumping toward the lake as Wilmer gasped and widened his eyes. “I’m gonna get some bear fur!”
“WANDA! I DIDN’T SAY TO DO IT!” yelled Wilmer as Wanda landed in the lake. “Oh no, this is real bad.”
As Willow and Wendy watched, Wanda lifted her head from the water and gasped for air.
“SHE’S ALIVE!” yipped Wendy.
A bear cub didn’t want to get inside the lake.
“Mommy, are you sure the water’s fine?” asked the cub worriedly.
“Yes, it’s not infected with anything, Beth,” grumbled the cub’s mother.
Beth saw Wanda struggling to get some bear fur, and she gasped.
“MOMMY! THERE’S A MONSTER IN THE WATER!’ yelled Beth.
“Beth, don’t you see I’m talking?” growled Beth’s mother.
“There are no monsters in the water,” said Beth’s father, unaware of Wanda trying to take fur from his tail. Wanda swam over to another bear and grabbed her tail as she screamed. “What is it?!”
“SOMETHING GOT MY TAIL!” yelled the bear, moving around, which flung Wanda. Wanda landed in the middle of the bears.
“SEE! I TOLD YOU GUYS! THERE’S A MONSTER IN THE WATER!” cried Beth.
The bears panicked as Wilmer did the same.
“WANDA’S GONNA GET TRAMPLED ON!” cried Wilmer. Wanda dived into the water and swam away from the bears. She got out of the lake as Wilmer rushed to her aid. “Are you all right?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” sighed Wanda.
Willow and Wendy laughed but stopped when they noticed the bears were heading towards them.
“RUN!!!” screamed Willow. The wolf pack peacefully ate meat, played, or slept in their dens, but Willow and Walachia’s screaming interrupted the peace. “BEARS ARE COMING!”
The panicked bears ran through the pack’s territory as the wolves rushed to get out of the way. Wasilei saw a wolf pup about to get trampled on by the bears, and he immediately got the wolf pup out of the way and returned it to its mother.
“Thanks, Wasilei,” said the wolf pup’s mother.
Wilson heard the commotion and didn’t see Wanda anywhere.
“Wanda? Where are you?” whimpered Wilson. He saw Wanda all wet and dirty with Wilmer. “WANDA!”
Wilmer ran over to Wanda immediately.
“Daddy!” chuckled Wanda. Wasilei, looking furious, walked over to Wanda, Wilson, and Wilmer. “...”
“What happened?” asked Wasilei angrily.
“Well, hehe, it’s a long story. You see-” Wanda cut Wilmer off.
“It’s my fault, Wasilei. We were playing. I was trying to get some bear fur and scared the bears. I’m sorry,” whimpered Wanda, complete with guilt as Wasilei scoffed. “But I did get some fur, though.”
“She did it?!” exclaimed Wilmer, Willow, and Wendy in unison, shocked.
Wasilei glared at Wilson and growled, “I said it five years ago, and I’ll repeat it. Wanda will never be one of us. She’s not a wolf. Wanda’s a different creature.”
“Wasilei, she’s only a child. She’ll learn from her mistakes,” whimpered Wilson as Wasilei walked away.
Later
Wanda looked at herself inside a puddle at night.
“Wasilei’s right. I’m not a part of the pack,” whimpered Wanda, crying.
Wilson saw Wanda crying and rushed to comfort her.
“There you are! I’ve been looking for you all night!” whimpered Wilson, sitting by Wanda.
“Daddy, why am I so different?” asked Wanda, crying more.
Wilson sighed and wiped Wanda’s tears.
“Because you’re special, Wanda,” said Wilson as Wanda smiled with sadness. “Close your eyes and put your paws on your chest. What do you feel?”
“My heart,” said Wanda.
“Your heart is what makes you strong. It’s what makes you believe,” said Wilson as Wanda smiled.
“Thank you, Daddy,” said Wanda, hugging Wilson.
Fifteen Years Later
A 20-year-old Wanda saw Wilson eating some meat. She snickered softly and crept toward him.
“Don’t even think about it,” grumbled Wilson as Wanda rolled her eyes.
“How’d you know it was me?” whimpered Wanda.
“Because I’m your father,” chuckled Wilson as Wanda smiled. He saw the rest of the pack gathering together. “I think the hunting party’s back, Wanda.”
Wanda ran out of the den and rushed to get meat. She gobbled the meat down fast, unaware of Wilmer watching.
“You’re hungry, huh,” said Wilmer, smirking.
“Do you want some?” asked Wanda, with meat stuffed in her mouth.
“Nah, I’m fine. I’ll eat later,” said Wilmer. “Wanda, I just wanted to say that even though you’re not a wolf, you’re becoming like one.”
“Hehe, thanks,” chuckled Wanda. She looked up and saw Wasilei. He gave Wanda an irritated look. “I don’t think Wasilei believes I’m becoming like a wolf, though, even after twenty years…”
The wolves suddenly heard the roar of a cougar, making them all alert. Wasilei saw the cougar and immediately attacked it. The cougar's claws left deep scratches on Wasilei, causing him to bleed and weakening his body. The cougar grinned evilly and approached the frightened wolves. However, Wanda howled, jumped on the cougar, and started biting it. As Wilson anxiously watched, Wanda and the cougar tumbled into a nearby ditch. Wasilei slowly rose to his paws and noticed his pack of wolves eagerly watching Wanda as she confronted the cougar.
As they circled each other, Wanda and the cougar growled fiercely. Suddenly, Wanda lunged at the cougar, and they tumbled into a deep hole while the worried wolves watched on. Surprisingly, Wanda emerged from the hole, howling triumphantly, with the cougar in her grasp. The wolves let out joyful howls, encouraging Wanda as Wasilei observed from a distance. Wanda smiled as the wolf pups cuddled against her, and then she gazed back up at Wasilei again.
The wolves suddenly heard an echoing gunshot and stopped howling.
“What was that?” whimpered Wilmer.
Another gunshot echoed throughout the island as birds flew away.
“Let’s go, everyone! Come on!” yelled Wasilei.
As all the wolves obediently trailed behind Wasilei, Wanda abruptly halted and peered back. Ignoring the pack, she sprinted in the direction of the gunshot. As Wanda ventured deeper into the dense forest, she was startled by distant voices. Peering through the bushes, she caught sight of two werewolf women.
“Where are these wolves hiding?” growled one of the werewolf women with a shotgun in her paw.
“Walachia, you’re probably scaring them with your gun,” chuckled the other werewolf woman nervously.
“Professor Winifred, wolves aren’t cute little animals. I’ll put one down the second it attacks,” grumbled Walachia. A werewolf man struggled to get through the tree branches. “There you are, Wayne.”
“Sorry, the branches keep getting stuck to my clothes. But Walachia, we came here to observe wolves, not kill them,” whimpered Wayne as Walachia rolled her eyes.
“The wolves will probably be deeper in the forest,” said Winifred. Wanda sniffed Walachia's gun and covered her nose in disgust. Walachia heard Wanda and looked before her, but Wanda hid in time. “Let’s get moving.”
Wanda jumped onto a tree and watched Walachia, Winifred, and Wayne. Walachia suddenly shot twice behind her, startling Winifred and Wayne.
“Walachia!” growled Wayne.
“Thought I saw something behind us,” grumbled Walachia.
Wanda, startled by the gunshots, looked up and saw holes in leaves.
A baby bat crony eating some berries got in Wayne’s way.
“Oh, a bat crony!” chuckled Wayne, getting out a journal. He started drawing the bat crony. “You’re not what we’re looking for, but you’re worth drawing in my journal.”
When Wayne finished drawing, he only saw the berries on the ground.
“Huh? Where did it go?” said Wayne, confused. He saw the bat crony on his shoulder. “Oh! There you are!”
The bat crony snickered and suddenly took Wayne’s journal as he gasped.
“HEY! GIVE THAT BACK!” growled Wayne, chasing after the bat crony. Wanda was curious and chased after Wayne. Wayne saw his journal on the ground and realized the page he used was missing. The bat crony admired Wayne’s drawing in its paws. Wayne grumbled, snatched the page from the bat crony, and placed it in his journal. The bat crony started crying as Wayne rolled his eyes. “Listen, this drawing is mine, not yours. It is a part of my journal. Besides, crying won’t do anything. It’s not like you’re attracting angry bat cronies.”
Wayne suddenly heard a lot of growling as the bat crony snickered. Looking behind him, he saw a group of angry bat cronies.
“UH… Maybe you did attract angry bat cronies,” chuckled Wayne nervously. Wayne screamed as the bat cronies started chasing him. Wanda gasped and went after Wayne. “AHHH!”
Wayne saw the other side of the island but realized he had to make a large jump to get there. He looked back as the bat cronies came closer and screamed, then closed his eyes. However, he felt as if he was riding something.
“Am I flying?” asked Wayne, confused. He looked down and realized he was riding on Wanda, who ran frantically on four paws to escape the bat cronies. “A WEREWOLF WOMAN?”
Wanda ran inside a cave, causing some bat cronies to get confused or hit by obstacles. Wayne softly snickered but stopped when his shirt got caught on a rock.
“HELP WEREWOLF WOMAN!” yelled Wayne. He saw the baby bat crony growling with its father. “HELP!”
Wanda realized Wayne wasn’t on her, looked back to see Wayne in trouble, and rolled her eyes. She ran back to Wayne in time and bit his shirt, then ran away from the bat cronies. Wanda ran out of the cave and jumped into a tree with Wayne. The bat cronies growled at Wanda and Wayne. Wanda growled back and gave Wayne’s drawing of the baby bat crony back to the bat cronies. The bat cronies flew away and left the two werewolves alone.
Wayne breathed heavily and slowly moved away from Wanda.
“I’m in a tree with a werewolf woman that talks to animals!” yelped Wayne, trying to get on another tree. He was able to put two of his paws on the other tree. “All right, that’s good.”
Wayne’s paws ended up slipping as he yelped.
“Nope, it’s not good. It can’t get worse, can it?” whimpered Wayne. It started raining as Wayne grumbled. “It can get worse…”
Wayne sighed, put his paws on the other tree again, and looked down. He opened his eyes and saw Wanda smiling as he screamed. Wanda pushed Wayne onto the other three and slowly approached Wayne like a wolf as he shivered.
“UH… Get away! Don’t get close to me!” yelled Wayne. Wanda saw Wayne’s toes and played with them. “HEHEHE! That tickles! Stop it!”
Wanda then rubbed her paw on Wayne’s fur and grabbed his belt.
“All right! You’re getting too close!” growled Wayne, softly pushing Wanda. However, Wanda put her paw against Wayne’s paw and then put her ears on Wayne’s chest to hear his heart as he nervously chuckled. Wanda then put Wayne’s ears on her chest so he could hear her heart. Wanda widened her eyes, realizing Wayne was someone like her. “Hehe. You have a strong heart. That’s very nice.”
“That’s very nice,” repeated Wanda.
“Thank you, the humidity’s making my fur- Wait, you can talk? All this time, I thought you were a wild and silent werewolf,” whimpered Wayne.
Wanda smiled, pointed to herself, and said, “Wanda.”
“What?” asked Wayne.
“Wanda,” said Wanda, pointing to herself.
“Wanda? Oh, I see!” chuckled Wayne.
“Oh, I see? Wanda,” said Wanda, pointing at herself again. She put her paws on Wayne’s shoulders. “Oh, I see.”
“No, no, no, I’m Wayne,” corrected Wayne nervously.
“No, no, no, I’m Wayne!” repeated Wanda, mimicking Wayne’s voice as he slapped his head.
“Wayne,” grumbled Wayne, pointing at himself. He then pointed at Wanda. “Wanda.”
Wanda put her paws on Wayne’s shoulders and said, “Wayne.”
“Yes,” chuckled Wayne. He and Wanda suddenly heard a gunshot. “WALACHIA!”
Another gunshot echoed.
“Walachia!” yelled Wanda eagerly.
“Can you take me to my camp?” asked Wayne as another gunshot echoed. “Yes, Walachia!”
Wanda let Wayne get on her back.
“Um, can we walk?” asked Wayne nervously. Wanda jumped off the tree and started running as Wayne screamed.
“Can we walk!” yelled Wanda, repeating after Wayne again.
Meanwhile
Wilmer, Willow, Wendy, other wolves, and Beth tried looking for Wanda.
“Wanda! Where are you?” yelled Wilmer.
“Let’s hope we find Wanda before Wasilei does,” whimpered Willow.
All the wolves suddenly gasped and stopped when they saw what was before them.
“Hey, what’s everybody star-AH!” screamed Beth. The wolves and Beth arrived at Winifred, Walachia, and Wayne’s camp. Beth shivered at seeing all the objects in the camp. “I CAN’T UNSEE IT! THE HORROR!”
“Beth, don’t embarrass me. These objects don’t move,” grumbled Wilmer as he and the other wolves walked into the camp.
“Yeah, yeah. I knew that,” grunted Beth.
“WANDA!” yelled Wendy.
“Where are you, Wanda?” growled Willow.
Wilmer looked at some of the inventions the werewolf brought with them.
“What type of animals could be responsible for this?” asked Wilmer. He found a typewriter and hit one of the buttons. The sound it made startled him a little. Wilmer used the typewriter again, and it made a ding sound. “HEY GUYS! LOOK AT THIS! I love the sound this makes!”
Wilmer used the typewriter again to make the same sound, but Wendy accidentally dropped some plates.
“Do it again! Do it again!” giggled Wilmer.
“Okay!” chuckled Wendy. Wilmer used the typewriter, and Wendy dropped a plate again, but Willow ripped pages from a book.
“Rip it again! Rip it again!” yelled Wilmer. The wolves started playing with the objects to make noises. “I think we’re making something!”
The wolves dropped boxes full of utensils, used teapots and teacups as drums, threw barrels around, and did many more things to make noise.
Wilmer picked up a horn from a music player.
“Pfft, what’s this?” grumbled Wilmer, throwing the horn at Beth.
“Huh? What is—” The horn landed in Beth’s mouth, causing her to make a noise, cutting her off.
“GOOD ONE, BETH!” yipped Wilmer as Beth blew through the horn again. “DO IT AGAIN!”
Wasilei and the other wolves heard all the noise from the camp and walked toward it.
Walachia and Winifred stopped when they heard music and noise from the camp.
“Wha?” whimpered Winifred, looking back at where the camp was and running.
Wayne and Wanda arrived at the camp and saw Beth and the wolves playing with the objects.
“GASP! Wolves!” cheered Wayne as Wanda eagerly ran over to the wolves. Wilmer looked back and noticed Wanda, who happily ran toward her. “She’s one of them…”
Wanda and Wilmer happily licked each other, but Wilmer froze when he saw Wayne. Wanda barked at Wilmer, trying to say that Wayne wasn’t an enemy. However, Wanda’s smile vanished when she saw Wasilei behind Wayne.
“Huh?” whimpered Wayne. He looked behind him and saw Wasilei growling. “AH!”
Wayne fell to the ground and got a pan so Wasilei could see his reflection to trick him, but it was useless.
Wasilei growled to make all of the wolves leave. Wanda gloomily looked back at Wayne as Wilson tried getting her to leave.
“WAYNE! WHERE ARE YOU?!” yelled Walachia.
“Wayne!” yelled Winifred. As Winifred and Walachia arrived at the camp, Wanda eventually ran into the bushes with Wilson. “WAYNE! THERE YOU ARE! We’ve been looking all over the island for you!”
“What on earth happened here?” growled Walachia, looking around the camp as Wayne put his paws on Winifred’s shoulders.
“MUMMY! When we were about to leave, I saw a baby bat crony eating berries, so I wanted to draw it in my journal. The bat crony wanted to keep the drawing, so it stole my journal, and I took the drawing back. The baby bat crony starts crying, and THERE ARE LOTS OF ANGRY BAT CRONIES BEHIND ME! I ran away from the bat cronies and suddenly started flying, then I ran through a cave, but a werewolf woman in a loincloth and bandeau saved me!” explained Wayne.
“A werewolf woman only in undergarments saved you? What are you talking about?” grumbled Walachia.
“Oh, Wayne gets these weird stories from his father,” chuckled Winifred.
“After the werewolf woman saved me, she took the camp where there was a bear and wolves,” said Wayne as Winifred and Walachia gasped.
“Wolves?!” yipped Winifred.
“WOLVES?! WHERE ARE THEY WAYNE?” yelled Walachia.
“She left with them,” whimpered Wayne.
“Who left with them? Who?” asked Winifred.
“Wanda, the wolf woman,” sighed Wayne.
