Work Text:
Luanne has been waiting.
For Owen to come back. It had been about a week and he had not come back yet. Luanne had been denying work opportunities when offered, saying she was waiting for a friend to come back really soon and would feel bad if she left a job immediately. She had been distracting herself with painting, though she was running out of canvases.
She could not deny that she was worried, she definitely was. She knew the risks of going back there, both of them did, but she still encouraged Owen to go back.
There was no way Owen actually died there.. right? She was strong, Luanne knew he was. Or… No-
There was no way Owen forgot about her. He said he would come back to pick her up. Maybe the purple corruption situation was taking longer to sustain than Luanne thought it would take, maybe she was paranoid. Maybe..
She would have to live in the town for now, could not be that bad.

It had been- a month?
Luanne heard about some ice walls melting? The newspapers said something about a group of brave pirates beating some church that caused ice walls that were apparently keeping them all trapped to melt. Luanne had asked around, about the group of pirates specifically, as she had really only known one group of brave pirates, a group that Owen went back to fight with. Though, no one seemed to know anything about the pirates.
Even with damped spirits, she stayed waiting, she stayed put. She had been making profit from her paintings, now trying to make a living in the town. She kept hoping, hoping her only friend she knew and had traveled with made an appearance.

Luanne was painting a ship (and maybe a certain dashing pirate that had a braid and a liking for the color orange at the side… ), out of memory she could say, while sitting at the docks. It had been awhile since she’s seen a ship.
Maybe she had seen one very out at sea but it was basically a speck.
She painted strokes of pale dark blue watercolor on her canvas, hand moving delicately as she tried to replicate the look of real moving waves. Her red hair blew on the wind as she listened to the crashing waves against land.
Something loomed over her, a shadow being created. Luanne looked up confused, a ship had anchored right in front of her.
She watched as a brunette male with a green headband (to match the green eyes) reached a hand down into the ship. As a hand clasped on the male’s hand, he pulled a person up. The person poked their head out, having slightly darker brown hair, brown eyes, tan skin, with golden earrings dangling and a matching green headband.
Luanne’s eyes widened. They looked familiar. “Owen?” she called out. The person seemed to say a thank you to the male as they stood up fully on the ship, Luanne being able to make out the name ‘Teddy’ and now saw that the person was wearing a neon green dress that went down to below knee level with dark green and golden accents while rocking other golden accessories, before turning to Luanne.
“No, not Owen, but you seem like the person he wanted me to find,” They said, stepping down the ship and landing on heels next to Luanne. “My name is Miss Snapdragon, you must be the Luanne Owen was talking about? Let’s see, Red hair, blue eyes, pretty face, mustard color dress..” she listed as she examined Luanne.
Luanne moved to stand up, keeping her painting supplies in her hands. “I’m.. yes I’m Luanne, nice to meet you, Miss Snapdragon,” she nodded, still having a raised eyebrow. “You said- mentioned, Owen? Is she here-?”
Miss Snapdragon answered as soon as Luanne finished her question, “Nope, that rat who did not deliver my shares from the casino is not here, though, I guess it doesn’t matter, the casino made a lot anyways,” she shook her head, “Sorry, dear, am getting sidetracked, but no, Owen is not here, no idea where he went, told me to find you and ran off,” she gestured with a hand out. “Stupidly didn’t tell me where to find you, just that she dropped you off at an island in a direction,” she sighed, shaking her head. “Oh right, he said he wanted me to tell you that she misses you, and is sorry for- whatever reason, didn’t tell me what again.”
“Oh, how unfortunate,” Luanne sighed, not being able to stop the small flush forming on her face. She turned her head to the side, masking it up with slight disappointment. “Well, you found me now, are you here to take me somewhere perhaps? I’ve been living in this town for a while.”
“Well, yes,” Miss Snapdragon replied, “Planning to take you to my casino,” she saw the puzzled look on Luanne’s face before continuing, “Oh, not to gamble, though I wouldn’t mind if you did,” she chuckled. “To hire you, perhaps, Owen told me you’re quite the painter,” she looked down at Luanne’s equipment. “I can definitely see you are, you would be a wonderful addition to my staff, dear, I’ll pay you good and get you somewhere to stay,”
Luanne started to consider, I mean, what else could she do? “Uh, as long as I’m still about to go around the place freely? Like, to explore the world?” she asked. ‘Like I wanted to do with Owen’ went unsaid and unheard.
“Oh, yes yes, of course, I would even go with you as it sounds lovely to do that b he after experiencing a rather tragic and disastrous wedding so I’d rather not step foot out of my casino now,” Miss Snapdragon tilted her head. “But you’ll have plenty of break time, darling,” she began to step foot back onto the ship. “Come on, Luanne- Teddy, dear, please welcome Luanne to our.. crew, we can say.”
Teddy, who was the brunette male, nodded and did a small bow, “Welcome aboard, Luanne, I hope you enjoy the company we will provide here with Snapdragon.”
Luanne, not expecting the formality as she stepped onto the ship as well, just smiled awkwardly, “I hope I do too, pleasure to meet you, Teddy,” then she spotted his nametag. “Or- Theodore.”
Miss Snapdragon chuckled. “We can set back off again, I want to get off the waters as soon as possible and back to work,” she told Theodore then turned to Luanne. “Emma’s downstairs making food, care to have some?” Miss Snapdragon offered, already taking Luanne’s hand to steadily lead her down into the ship as it started to move.
