Being Kuroo’s twin sister has its advantages, one was being the manager for the boys volleyball team. You enjoyed your position, refilling their water bottles, patching up any injuries they get, and attending matches. One of the downsides was having boys (and girls) asking you out, much to Kuroo’s annoyance. You ignored them most of the time. Despite that, the whole team loved having you as their manager, one of them was Taketora Yamamoto aka Tora.
You met him through your friend Kenma when you were a second-year. He was quiet and timid whenever you were around, though you never noticed and assumed it was due to being his upperclassman. It wasn’t until your third-year that it would be more than that.
Your school participated in the yearly summer training camps in Tokyo, one of the schools being Karasuno High. Despite your schools being ‘rivals’, you got along with them, including their managers Kiyoko and Yachi.
During lunch, Kiyoko reached into her bag and gave you a box. It was a little box with red wrapping paper and pink hearts on it. Your heart begins to race. You looked at her with a confused look. ‘Tanaka told me to give this to you because one of his friends was too nervous to do it,’ she explains. You rip off the paper, open the box, and inside was a necklace with a cat pendant. Under the roof of the box is a taped note, it read ‘To Y/n sempai. From Tora.’ A blush formed on your face. You turn to wear your team is sitting at, you see him sitting with Kenma. He meets your eyes for a sec before looking away. Taking the necklace out, you put it on, the girls gasping in wonder. It was a nice length that wasn't too long or too short. ‘It looks cute on you y/n,’ another manager squealed excitedly. It did you thought to yourself.
Later, when everyone was getting ready for bed, Tora came out of the bathroom and you decided to confront him. He saw you, but didn’t try to run this time. ‘Look,’ he sighed, a hand moving behind his neck. ‘Please don’t be upset, okay? I’ve been nervous about talking to you since well…your Kuroo’s sister and I didn’t wanna make things awkward.’ You kept listening. ‘It’s just…’ his face turned red, ‘When I first met you, I thought you were just a girl version of Kuroo, but the more I got to know you I…started to see you differently.’ He turned his eyes from you. ‘I don’t know how to say it since I’m not great with words, but I like you senpai and if you don’t feel the same way, then that’s f-’ you cut off his words when you cupped his face and pulled him into a kiss. He was taken aback and startled, but quickly sunk into your kiss and wrapped his arms around you.
You pulled back, holding his face. ‘You talk too much,’ you giggled, smiling at the goofy grin plastered in his face. ‘And call me y/n.’ Who knew someone whose name had a word that meant ‘tiger’ could be such a lovable guy. If only you knew sooner that this guy was head over heels for you. ‘So uh-’ he asked timidly, ‘Does that mean you wanna…’ ‘Go out with me?’ you finished his question. ‘Of course Tora.’ you covered his face with kisses.
After that, you exchanged numbers and went out whenever you both got the chance. Kuroo started noticing his attitude being different, but couldn’t figure out why though. ‘You guys notice that Yamamoto’s been acting more…upbeat lately?’ Kai asked, noticing him smiling and humming to himself. ‘Maybe he’s got a girlfriend.’ Lev answered jokingly. ‘A girlfriend? No way,’ Yaku replied. ‘Whoever she is, I hope she can handle him.’ Kuroo wasn’t buying it, he knew something was up so he asked you if you knew anything. ‘Me?’ you lied through your teeth. ‘I honestly can’t tell. Maybe it’s a bug or something.’ You kept your relationship with Tora a secret from everyone except Kenma. He made sure Kuroo wouldn’t find out until you were ready.
Kuroo left you in charge of the house one day so he could hang out with Kenma. You called Tora to tell him you were home alone. About 10 minutes later, the doorbell rang and you ran up to open the door and hug your boyfriend, who had bought some snacks. You two sat on the couch, watching whatever movie was on. As you reached to grab some popcorn, you felt his hand reach down also, giggling when you saw a tiny blush on his cheeks. During a boring scene in the movie, Tora yawned and wrapped his arm around you. You turned to look to see him, giving you a side smirk. You rolled your eyes and snuggled into him.
After the movie ended, you took him up to your bedroom. He was sitting at the side of your bed with you in his lap. His hands were resting on your hips while your arms wrapped around his neck. It was rare when you two got intimate as you were still new to dating so you took it slow. Tora didn’t mind though; as long as he was with you, nothing mattered. You gazed into each other's eyes until you pulled him into a kiss. It was sweet and tender. He then decided to be playful and pull you backwards on the bed. You almost yelped and clung to his shirt. It was only a few seconds of silence until you both laughed, moving in to kiss him again on the cheek.
The bubble around you two popped when a sudden loud, booming voice echoed in your room.
‘WHAT THE HELL’S GOING ON?’ you turn your head to see Kuroo standing in the entrance, his face a mix of shock and anger. You didn’t expect your brother to be back already, but it seemed his gut feeling had other plans. Tora looked up to see your brother and felt the blood drain from his face.
‘K-K-Kuroo-senpai, w-what are you doing here?’ Tora asked, scared out of his mind. ‘I SHOULD BE ASKING YOU THE SAME THING,’ he stormed over ready to throw hands. You were quick to stop him in his tracks, trying to tell him that it wasn’t what it looked like. You didn’t realize later that you left your phone in the living room so you didn’t get Kenmas texts saying your brother was returning.
Another downside to being Kuroo’s twin was that he was a little overprotective. As a child, he was really shy and scared of everything. As he grew older, he got invested in volleyball, gaining confidence and taking risks. Due to your parents' messy divorce, he got defensive whenever someone showed interest in you. He didn’t want to see you get your heart broken and kept would-be suitors at bay by intimidating them. You let it slide, but it got annoying fast until you called him out.
After making sure Tora went home alive, Kuroo started bombarding you with questions. ‘How long has this been going on?’ he demanded to know. ‘Since training camp,’ you responded, rolling your eyes. He was taken aback to your answer. ‘So that explains why Yamamoto’s been acting strange,’ Kuroo murmured, putting the pieces together. He knew the guy got mad easily, but the second he saw a cute girl he did a complete 180. ‘I don’t know why it’s such a big deal, it’s not like he’s gonna hurt me or anything,’ you reply, crossing your arms. ‘That doesn’t mean I’m okay with him dating you,’ Kuroo shot back intensely. ‘As long as you live here, there’s no dating period.’
You scoffed. ‘Says the guy who was caught making out with a certain blonde from Karasuno,’ flashing him a smug grin. ‘THAT WAS DIFFERENT OKAY?’ he shrieked, blushing furiously. You snickered seeing his face contort in embarrassment; dude wasn’t as straight as he claims. You knew about his crush on Tsukishima. Guy flirted with him throughout the whole duration of training camp. Not to mention you’d hear the love birds talk late into the night. You knew Kuroo like the back of your hand, for god's sake you shared the same womb for nine months.
After that sick burn, Kuroo made an attempt to loosen up. You were worried that Tora wouldn’t show up the next day at practice, but thankfully you saw him in the gym and was surprised to see your brother talking to him, though this time he was more calm and apologized profusely. He admitted that he was off his rocker and gave Tora his blessing. You walked up, hugging your boyfriend from behind, giving him a little peck on the face.
