Chapter Text
“I told you to stand down.”
Byakuya barked at the guards. He was out on the field still, his stance unmoving as he stared down his unit.
“Byakuya, this is serious! You do not have authority to stop his containment.” Makoto screeched in his ear piece. The other guards were on the same frequency. They weren’t sure who to listen to at the moment.
Izuru stood behind Byakuya, watching nonchalantly with a poker face. He glanced slightly to Byakuya. He looked disheveled from being out, some sweat glistening in the so-called sunlight. Izuru’s emotions were torn. He didn’t want to be taken away from him so quickly, but he would rather sacrifice himself than see him with a bounty on his
head.
Izuru placed his hand on Byakuya’s shoulder, making him flinch slightly and glance behind him. The guards started barking at him, their guns taking aim and locked in.
“Step away from Togami! Hands up!”
Byakuya could scold him for making such a risky move.
“I am your leader, you listen to me and that’s final. Put your damn weapons down and back up.”
“I’m sorry, Togami sir, but it has been our goal to capture Kamukura and take him to the foundation.” His second in command spoke up. He was the only other one he trusted in his unit to separate away and help train the others. He wasn’t upset at him, glad that he will do whatever it takes to complete their mission however it doesn’t mean he has to like it.
Byakuya opened his mouth to counter against him, however Izuru quickly wrapped his arm around his neck, holding his warm body against his chest. The blond bent back a bit to make up the small height difference between the two.
“I will not go without at least a fun fight.” Izuru spoke. His voice was clear and stubborn, he didn’t bother looking down at Byakuya. He knew he was glaring daggers at him.
The second commander crept closer with two other guards coming up next to him. “Kamukura! You are under arrest for bringing despair upon our city, ruining and ending lives. You will be subjected to the foundation under Makoto Neagi.”
Izuru rolled his eyes at the mention of the brunette.
Byakuya moved his foot back slightly, stepping on his toes with his heel with small force to regain his attention. Izuru ignored it, keeping his focus on the guards with loaded guns aimed at him.
“Do not shoot, you have no clear opening.” Byakuya warned, his voice a bit quieter than before. He felt Izuru shift behind him, unsure what else he was going to do in this horrible situation already. It was until Izuru pulled out his gun from his side, aiming it at his unit.
Izuru tilted his head at the guard, almost taunting him to try anything. Byakuya’s eyes kept switching back and forth between the two barrels.
The commander let out a deep breath through his nose. It was a stand still for a few deafening seconds. He fidgeted with his ear piece, “Get me two medics ASAP.” He ordered under his breath.
Byakuya stared at him wide eyed. His body started to thrash more, eagerly not wanting to be between the shoot out.
Izuru’s eyes locked on the gun. He was surprised. He didn’t think his unit would dare to endanger their first commander so easily just for him. It felt a bit disgusting how much they wanted him.
“What?,” Makoto questioned through the ear piece. “Why two? What’s going on?” His voice growing more concerned the more he was ignored by the two. Even the other guards looked at their commanders, unsure of the outcome.
He quickly shot at the duo.
They all watched in horror as both Byakuya and Izuru dropped to the ground. There was small splatters of blood behind the wall they stood in-front of.
“Where are my medics?” He shouted behind him, putting his gun away at his waist. He and a few others ran over to them.
Byakuya fell backwards on the concrete, his head laying on Izuru’s forearm that held him. He heard a gentle crack when they both fell, but he couldn’t pin point if it was from him or the other.
It felt like the tragic end scene of Romeo and Juliet. He could taste the dry iron in his mouth.
“Togami? Can you hear me? I’m sorry sir, I had to.” He tapped at his shoulder, and quickly scanned over his body.
He grunted in pain. His body felt like electricity and numbness running up his body. His right shoulder was throbbing, feeling his own blood flow out on his uniform.
He stayed silent but fluttered his eyes open. His eyes met the polluted air he hated so much. He could barely focus on making out his second in commands face. Only ever wanting to see Izuru’s right now.
The foundation’s medics quickly came over, their faces a bit flushed from running to the scene.
“Your top priority is Togami. Make sure Kamukura is just barely alive, we need him compliant not in good health.” He ordered. The medics nodded, splitting to attend both at once.
Byakuya’s head was throbbing, knowing well his head was going to swell same with his hip and tailbone. He cursed at his second in command, mostly for how his joints were just feeling better.
His eye’s felt dark and fuzzy. His breathing felt not his. He sighed the best he could, feeling on the verge of passing out. He was pushing himself, fighting against the wound and pain his body was in. He needed to supervise of what they’re doing to Izuru.
He felt like the only person who actually cared about Izuru as a human.
“How many shots were fired?” The farthest medic questioned, looking up from Izuru’s body.
“Um, three I think.”
There was more shuffling beside Byakuya.
“We need to get him to the clinic. The third is still inside.” She spoke urgently. The commander barked to the rest of the unit to aid in transporting him.
Byakuya could feel his heart beat even louder. He hasn’t heard anything from Izuru at all.
He felt… scared. He didn’t know anything of Izuru’s state if he was still conscious or not, how bad the wound was, if he was even breathing.
He mustered up his strength to turn his head, to look beside him. He was quickly stopped, the medic attending him keeping his head still into a neck collar. “Please don’t move sir, we can’t risk any more damage currently.”
His eyes started to tear. His chest was heavy and it felt like someone held his throat in a tight grip. He wanted to call out for him or just ask the medic how he was, but he couldn’t get a single word out.
The second commander looked at his sorrowful expression. He wasn’t sure what to make of it. He never seen Togami display any expression than stoic.
He walked away to attend to his unit, speaking to Makoto about the perhaps unity of Togami and Kamukura.
