Summary
Daryl had never enjoyed looking in the mirror. He hadn't even owned one his whole adult life, but now he caught glimpses of himself in rivers and car windows and despised what he saw. That face couldn't belong to him. Even with the stubble and the scars, the softness had returned, the narrower jaw, the plumper lips. If they noticed, no one said a thing. He was certain they looked at him differently, wracking their brains to pinpoint why he looked so different, but they never said a thing. These features didn't belong to him, and he fucking hated it. The anger bubbled inside, the feeling that had latched itself to his every waking moment as a teen—coiling tighter and tighter around him until it ached deep in his bones. Until he became the hatred, expelling it outwards in an attempt to keep from drowning in it.
or, Daryl's testosterone shots run out and he deals with being trans at the end of the world. Rick is a welcome distraction.
