Work Text:
Mitsuya reasoned, that he didn't see any other way to avoid himself from lying, so he resorted to the last known way to save himself, which ironically was lying.
"Oh, I didn't know you were coming too, Draken," his mother blinked when she greeted him in the doorway.
Mitsuya swallowed his doubt and nervousness, letting his instinct to survive take over.
"Uh, well, you told me to bring my boyfriend, Mom," he cleared his throat awkwardly before he turned to Draken and took his hand. "Here he is."
It took his mother several seconds to digest his words.
"Oh," his mother managed to say, that Mitsuya could almost hear the word the same way it contains the element of surprise of every revealing plotline in the novel.
The 'Oh' moment, the realization.
The confusion turned around pretty fast, for her case.
Mitsuya didn't know what he expected of his mother's reaction but honestly, the way she immediately changed her behavior was not something he expected at all.
"What a nice surprise, Takashi," she smiled, and Mitsuya shuddered, thinking about how he had never seen her being all bright like that. "Come in, you two."
She went straight to usher Draken into the house.
"Guess, there'll be a change of plan," she patted Draken's arm, while Mitsuya tailed them behind, watching and observing. "What's your favorite food, Draken?"
Draken who had done nothing but smile, looked over his shoulder. Mitsuya stared back at him, over the unasked question.
What should I answer, he seemed to ask?
Why don't you be honest?
So Draken plastered his biggest grin on. "I always love his Karubidon."
His mother giggled. GIGGLED.
"Of course, of course," she said in between before she pulled out the phone out of her apron. "Excuse me for a moment."
She fumbled with the device for a while, and she apparently called someone upon the answer that had been given. "Ah, Luna! I have a new list of things you should get—yes, this is important, Honey. It's for Takashi's boyfriend—oh my God, yes, I've asked his favorite food and now we should prepare such, so here's what you need to get—"
She turned around to mouth, go wait with Takashi, I need to take care of this which Draken replied by mouthing back, of course, Auntie that seemed to delight her even more.
While his mother disappeared into the kitchen as she listed the ingredients to cook a proper Karubidon, Mitsuya guided Draken to the living room, wondering if he had made the right decision.
To be fair, Draken was the one to offer the solution.
They were just casually hanging out in D&D Motors when the issue was brought up.
The hangout was their weekly agenda, either Draken swung by Mitsuya's place or Mitsuya swung by Draken's place.
Usually, Inupi was also present when it was Mitsuya's turn to go to Draken's place since he also lived on the second floor of the bike shop.
But this time, he had another plan, so it was only him and Draken.
The topic came up when Mitsuya got the text from his mother, once again, pestering him to get someone nice to settle down with, along with a not-so-subtle matchmaking attempt in the form of her attaching a photo of some random guy, this is Kiyako-san's son, Takashi, don't you think he's very handsome? And single too! How about you try to meet him, maybe you two will get along!
He thumped his head on the table, groaning loudly.
"You're wasted already?" Draken lifted his eyebrows.
"No," Mitsuya huffed in annoyance, chugging his beer to prove his point. He might be lightweight but he wasn't that lightweight. "but get this, my mom tried to set me up with some guys. Again."
"Again?"
Mitsuya hadn't told anyone about his mother's obsession to be so weirdly supportive when he came out as gay back then, by constantly pestering him to get a boyfriend. Not even to Draken. He was happy to find out that his mother was so accepting of his sexuality. But it was embarrassing as hell, once she educated herself on the matter, his mother was so eager to see him with someone.
And it had escalated from so, is there anyone in your life now, Takashi? to I think this guy's cute, why don't you get to know him?
"She planned to invite her friend's son to meet me this weekend," Mitsuya took out another bottle of beer from the cooler. "It's been what now, four, five times she did this."
"That's actually very nice of her," Draken popped the peanuts, snickering. "she just wants to see her son happy and not lonely."
Mitsuya gave him a face. "I can very much do that without her help. I ran out of excuses to stop her from doing that." Another ping on his phone screen, got him to look over it and prompted him to groan. "Geez! Look, she just said, that if I couldn't make it this weekend because of the work and stuff, she could arrange a meeting for him to meet me."
Draken laughed. "Your mom is very sweet, Mitsuya."
"Shut up." Mitsuya laid his face down on the table, groaning even louder.
Draken ruffled his black-lilac hair, trying to be sympathetic but he only came out rather teasing.
"How about this," Draken pat his head once. "you can go and pretend you have a boyfriend already."
Mitsuya lifted up his face. He didn't care if he looked like a giant miserable dog, with Draken's palm over his head.
"You know, tell her, you've got someone and that she should stop setting you up with some strangers."
What was Draken thinking? That this was a rom-com movie? You could just play pretend with someone to trick your mother into thinking you're in a happy and loving relationship?
"Har-har," Mitsuya slapped Draken's hand off his hair, but Draken didn't look like he was joking when he caught Mitsuya's hand. "You know where to rent a boyfriend now?"
Draken stared right into his eyes when he said, "I can be your boyfriend."
Mitsuya wasn't gonna lie, Draken was handsome. And he was being objective when he thought of him as such. Draken was definitely a spectacle, that would put every man his mother ever tried to set him with to shame.
But still.
It's Draken. His oldest friend, his Twin Dragons. Their relationship stayed strong until this day because the nature of it was completely platonic, almost brotherly.
He knew Draken wasn't 100% straight, he admitted to Mitsuya himself that he was attracted to people regardless of their gender, and he actually had one-night stands with men too.
So Draken wouldn't be uncomfortable pretending to be in love with someone of the same gender.
"That's funny, Draken," Mitsuya responded dryly. "I don't think it's a good—"
Draken was quick to cut him off. "You don't have to teach me about your yes and no to-go list since I've known it already. Your mother might be much more convinced if she found out you're dating someone she knew. And you don't gotta deal with creeps if you rented some stranger to show up at your house."
I'm the best deal you've got here, went unsaid, but Mitsuya heard it just the same.
"What's the catch?" Mitsuya squinted. All of those perks, had to come with a price, right? "What do you want in return?"
There was a slight surprise on Draken's face when he heard the question like he hadn't expected Mitsuya to ask him that.
"You'll laugh at me," he mumbled, suddenly looking away with what Mitsuya was sure, reddened cheeks.
"We're past being the butt of the jokes. What is it?"
He let go of Mitsuya's hand, grabbed his beer, and drank it rather quick like he hoped it could boost his courage before he stammered. "Uh well, I wanna know how it feels to be in a relationship with a man."
Mitsuya blinked.
"I only messed around with men, I never had a proper relationship with them before. I wonder if it's the same with having a girlfriend," he elaborated, which sounded more like he was trying to defend himself.
"So you choose me to experiment with?"
Draken flustered. "It's a win-win situation!"
Well, that wasn't what Mitsuya had in mind when he thought Draken had wanted something from him for his deal.
The thought of being Draken's guide to the whole boyfriend experience wasn't bad either. And if it could keep his mother in check, it was certainly not a bad idea.
Draken was right, Mitsuya would much prefer to have someone he knew, to fill the fake boyfriend position, something that Draken definitely qualified for.
"Okay," Mitsuya grinned for the first time, and he offered his hand. "You've got a deal."
The dinner went on without much hassle, to Mitsuya's surprise.
As Draken had predicted, his mother was totally sold on the idea of himself finally finding someone, especially someone that she knew rather well.
He didn't speak for Draken, but he could tell, Draken enjoyed the attention that had been brought to him upon the relationship reveal.
His mother had been extra affectionate, even Luna and Mana were excited to know that Draken was now eligible for the second brother title (like they hadn't called him that for years).
There was literally no downside to this. Draken played the boyfriend role to perfection even if he constantly made sure Mitsuya was comfortable with his antics.
"I've told you, it's okay," Mitsuya whispered for umpteenth.
Draken remained unconvinced, but he nodded before he proceeded his acting.
The rest of the night flowed so easily.
When he bid his mother goodbye, she hauled him into a long hug.
"I'm so happy, Takashi," she sniffled against his shoulder. "Draken's a good guy, I'm glad you two are finally together."
He didn't have time to process the words because the moment his mother let him go, he was soon attacked by his sisters who demanded he visit more and bring Draken with him.
"Next week, Nii-san!"
"I'll have to check my calendar," Mitsuya deflected.
"You come or we come," Mana added with a serious expression, pointing at Draken. "Draken-nii too!"
"Your brother is a very busy person," Draken smiled, becoming one of the only two people who was allowed to ruffle Mana's hair without being snarled at. "But, we'll see what we can do."
Draken made a scene of taking Mitsuya's hand as he entered the elevator.
"You think that's a success?" He let him go immediately once the automatic door closed.
One perfect night in Mitsuya's opinion. That's a good start.
It was kind of his own fault that he didn't think it through.
Sure, he crafted a nearly flawless backstory with Draken, thinking of details that might been asked, even went so far to pretend they had pet names for each other (it was a simple Ken and Taka, but his family swooned when they 'accidentally' referred to each other that way).
Mitsuya's plan was simple:
- Getting his mother believes that he has been in a loving relationship all this time.
- Making excuses for Draken if she pesters him about the said relationship (since she knew Draken, Mitsuya thought she would be more lenient if Draken didn't show up or if he wasn't with him all the time).
So far, so good.
Without the topic of his eldest having a date, his mother's conversation had become more bearable. Occasionally she did ask about Draken, but it was less frequent than her previous obsession of being a matchmaker.
He and Draken agreed to take some pics, random and candid pics, to maintain their relationship status in Mitsuya's mother's eyes.
It worked so well.
"You know what mom told me when I told her, you were the one making me dinner?" Mitsuya showed his phone. "She said, Takashi, why don't you date him sooner! Hear that, you are really the boyfriend of the year."
Draken snickered. "Did you tell her, it's actually prepackaged food or did you tell her I took a cooking class specifically to please you?"
Mitsuya groaned. "Gaah, that's a good one! Why didn't I think of it?"
Scanning the shelves before his eyes, he took the detergent and softener and put them in the cart. "I just told her, you learned to cook from YouTube."
"That's great too," Draken pushed the cart out of the aisle they were at. "Making me like I didn't know what I was doing but I'm still trying anyway."
They exchanged ideas on what Mitsuya should say the next time his mother meddled into his relationship, as they were browsing for more items to buy for their monthly groceries. Despite living separately, they often did the shopping together. It was more efficient and had less probability of them forgetting something.
They were about to enter the toiletries aisle when their cart bumped into another cart.
"I am very sorry—" Draken started, but he was soon cut off by the person before them.
"Aren't you Hiyoko's eldest?" A middle-aged woman moved her cart, making a way for Draken's cart to enter the aisle. "Uh, Takashi?"
Mitsuya had to show no recognition on his face that the woman had to add, "It's Akagi, I worked with your mother."
Fortunately, the name rang a bell.
"Ah, Akagi-san! Hello!" He bowed down. "It's been a while."
"It's like just yesterday when your mom complained about you joining a gang, and now you have made a name in the fashion world!" Akagi went to pat his shoulder. "Your mom is very proud of you."
Mitsuya ducked his head. His mother hadn't said much about that, but it felt very validated that her friend knew about his achievement because she apparently told everyone. He had never thought of himself as a bragging material, especially to his mother, but it did feel good to know that she was proud of him.
"And you must be the great boyfriend of Takashi that Hiyoko keeps talking about!"
The what now?
"Your mother, Takashi, always asks around if there is anyone that she can set you up with! She is very eager for you to have a boyfriend!" Mitsuya didn't need his mother to tell everyone that. "But look at you two, such a beautiful couple! Hiyoko never once believed me when I said that you'll get one if you're ready. She should listen to me."
Draken switched into boyfriend mode in an instant, redirecting the attention to himself to give Mitsuya time to adapt to the situation.
"Hello, Akagi-san, I'm Draken," he flashed a dazzling smile. "It's very nice to meet you."
Akagi-san was so charmed that she ended up chatting with Draken for a while before she remembered she had to finish her shopping and bid them goodbye.
Mitsuya was glad that Draken had handled the interaction pretty well, not giving away too many details but still keeping the conversation pretty engaging.
"You know, Mitsuya," Draken said when he pushed the cart to the register. "If that's one friend of your mother, have you ever wondered how many friends of hers might know about us?"
Mitsuya froze, before he groaned loudly. Draken snickered at his reaction, before he coughed.
"Heads up, Akagi-san is only two registers away from us," Draken warned him surreptitiously as he placed the items they purchased to be scanned.
Mitsuya happened to look in her direction, and she waved at him. He didn't think long when he hauled Draken's arm, surprising him since he was in the middle of handing the items to the cashier. Akagi-san grinned at them before she exited the register with her groceries.
Only it wouldn't be so easy to let Draken go when he realized Akagi-san wasn't the only one to see him.
"You two are cute," the cashier girl commented, having the same exact grin.
There was one rough night before a big show that Mitsuya regretted every time he remembered it.
He knew he was tired as hell, but he still forced himself to work overtime to finish a design for a dress. It wasn't just any dress. That one needed hand-stitched details that had to be done diligently and meticulously to maintain the quality of the design.
That night, Mitsuya was adamant about finishing the seams, despite Yasuda warning him that he shouldn't push himself.
Yet, Mitsuya did it anyway.
The fashion show went great, and the other designs were showcased perfectly.
But that one dress, the one that Mitsuya had done in the state of fatigue despite everyone and every part of himself, telling him otherwise, didn't come out as great as the other.
The details were ruined. Even if it was only visible to the professional eyes (the tabloid and magazines still called it perfect), Mitsuya knew he had screwed up so bad.
Having to remember that one particular moment was really horrifying.
Especially considering the situation he was in.
"Excuse me, are you Takashi Mitsuya?"
Mitsuya wouldn't be surprised to be recognized, he was in the boutique where he usually supplied the designs from his fashion line.
Draken was actually with him since he needed a new suit to attend an important business meeting next week and had asked for his favor to pick an outfit. Minutes ago, Mitsuya had just chosen several styles for him to wear, and Draken disappeared into the changing room and hadn't been seen after.
"Yes, I am," Mitsuya couldn't recall the face before him, but he assumed this person was an important person, considering the attire. His face was somewhat familiar to him, but Mitsuya couldn't remember who is he.
"Ah, what a coincidence!" The man clapped his hands excitedly. "It's a shame we haven't had a chance to meet, yet. I'm Akihiko Kato, my mother told me about you."
Mitsuya blinked, he was so close to blurting out, huh who? when Kato noticed the confusion and laughed.
"It seems that our mothers know each other and plan to set you up with me," he smiled. Mitsuya hadn't known him long and it would be unfair of him to make an assumption based on their limited interaction, but there was something unpleasant about this man despite the smile and friendly demeanor. "My mother, Kiyako? You must've heard of her name."
That name seemed like something that he should know, but Mitsuya couldn't really place it.
It wasn't until Draken came out of the changing room, that he made the connection.
This is Kiyako-san's son, Takashi, don't you think he's very handsome? And single too! How about you try to meet him, maybe you two will get along!
The text that had started the whole fake boyfriend thing with Draken in the first place.
Because his mother had planned for him to meet with someone, Kiyako Kato's son to be precise.
"Of course," Mitsuya nodded. "It's nice to meet you, Kato-san."
Kato grinned. "You're busy? How about we grab a coffee, get to know each other? I'm sad that we didn't get any chance to meet, back then."
His words surprised him. Mitsuya wouldn't think that his mother wouldn't inform any of his potential dates about the fact that Mitsuya was finally in a relationship.
He knew firsthand, how his mother couldn't keep her mouth shut once she found out that he had been dating. She even passed the congratulations from one of the mothers of the man that she had set him up with.
He was about to refuse, when Draken appeared in front of him, wearing one of the suits that Mitsuya had picked.
"I would never think, I'll be into burgundy, but damn, if I look good in it," he grinned, showcasing himself that Mitsuya couldn't help matching his grin. He noticed Mitsuya wasn't alone, so he addressed Kato as well. "Oh, is this your friend?"
"Who are you?" Kato frowned.
Among other reactions that he could exhibit, Mitsuya was surprised to find that Kato radiated strong dislikeness at the sudden appearance of Draken.
The question didn't surprise them, but the tone did.
Draken had to sense something hadn't gone right, that he immediately went to stand next to Mitsuya.
"You know him, Mitsuya-san?" Kato prompted.
Mitsuya cleared his throat awkwardly. "This is Draken, Kato-san," he wrapped his arm around Draken's waist. "my boyfriend."
Draken was quick to place his arm on Mitsuya's back. The gesture seemed to not be appreciated accordingly if Kato's expression was any indication.
"But your mother sets you up with me—" Kato started like he had more rights to be with Mitsuya because his mother had contacted Kato's mother. Like it could justify his presence that should be in the Draken's position.
"Ah yes, I haven't told her about my relationship at that time, so she went on without knowing," Mitsuya offered an apologetic smile. "I've told her not to, but before I had any chance to tell her about my relationship, she had contacted Kiyako-san already."
Kato seemed like he was torn between being in rage or in shame.
Unwisely, he picked the first option, and he didn't go after him, but he directed it towards Draken, even without actually addressing him.
"Doesn't mother always know best? She must have her own reason for arranging us to meet, Mitsuya-san," he flashed a thousand-megawatt smile, that should have been sweet but to Mitsuya, it was sickening. "Aren't you a fashion designer? I happen to be a model. We could pair up so good."
"Did you miss the part where he said, he's taken and you're staring at him and his boyfriend?" Draken opened his mouth for the first time.
Kato looked over him, sneering. "I don't see much."
Mitsuya was glad he confined Draken because he could almost feel Draken went rigid on a whim over the words.
"I appreciate your interest in me, Kato-san, but as Draken has kindly reminded you, I'm taken," Mitsuya said, emphasizing the last two words. "I apologize on my mother's behalf if she ever misleads you. I assure you, it wasn't her intention at all."
Kato huffed, glaring openly at Draken and him, before he stomped out of the shop, apparently leaving his assistant behind who was busy handling his purchase in the register, yelling a panicked, "Kato-san! Where are you going!"
Mitsuya wondered if his mother would get an earful complaint because of this incident.
"What an asshole," Draken muttered. "Thinking he got any right of you because that mama boy got your mom sets you up with. Five thousand yen he will throw tantrums when he's home."
Mitsuya elbowed him, snickering.
"Anyway, forget about the slimey dickhead," Draken went back to show Mitsuya his suits. "Look at me, I look so professional in this."
Mitsuya grinned. "Told you, you can trust me with your wardrobe."
"To be fair, I have never pictured myself wearing any of this," Draken fixed his cufflinks. "But I'll treat myself this time. Thanks, Mitsuya for the recommendation."
Mitsuya waved his hands. "I'll treat you, consider it my thank-you gift for everything you've ever done, Draken."
Draken snorted before he realized that Mitsuya wasn't joking.
"No, I can't take these for free. I have money, I'll pay them myself."
"Uh, I might have gone ahead and did—"
"Give me the receipt then, and I'll transfer you back."
"Draken, I told you, it's the way I thank you."
"Mitsuya, no—"
Mitsuya chuckled. "Think of it as a gift from your boyfriend, then. You know it would be rude to refuse something that your boyfriend had gifted to you, don't you?"
He saw something strange that seemed to flash on Draken's face, but it was gone as fast as it appeared.
"Fine," Draken gave up. "Thank you, Mitsuya."
Mitsuya grinned. "You're very welcome."
Another weekend arrived.
This time, they hung out at Mitsuya's apartment.
Draken insisted on supplying the food and beverages to repay Mitsuya and when Mitsuya adamantly refused, he used his own words against him.
"You know, it would be rude to refuse your boyfriend when he wanted to treat you?"
In the end, he relented and let Draken do as he pleased.
It would just be like the other night they'd spend together.
Chatting about everything, exchanging stories from the bike shop and the firm, talking that was borderline gossiping about what their friends were up to.
Except it wasn't, when Mitsuya's phone pinged.
It was his mother. Seemed like, Kato did complain to his mother, and the complaint got forwarded to Mitsuya's mother as well.
"Yikes, Kato confronted my mother." Mitsuya scrolled his phone, frowning. "He had accused her of misleading him and giving him false information about her son."
Draken put down his beer to scooch into his side, so he could take a better look at Mitsuya's phone.
"What a dramatic fucker," Draken leaned to align the phone to read better. "Look at that, deeply disappointed about the short interaction he had with us. Holy shit, Mitsuya, he's even worse than he looks."
Mitsuya typed his response and the reply came instantly. "Mom said the exact same thing." He snickered. "I hate to say this, but it's her karma for meddling in my business. Kato is awful, but Mom wouldn't get to experience this if she's chill about my love life."
Another reply came in.
Mitsuya hadn't read it, but the message box was opened and Draken had the first look into her text.
"I know, I've said it before, Takashi, but I'm so happy you're finally with Draken."
He turned his head to find Draken read the message aloud.
"She keeps saying that," Mitsuya added, grinning. "You're really the boyfriend of the year, Draken."
He didn't expect Draken to lean forward, grabbing his face.
To kiss him.
Mitsuya's first instinct was to punch him in the face and he did exactly that.
"What the fuck—"
Draken stumbled back, but he didn't look like he was aware of the consequence of his action.
"Why the hell did you kiss me!" Mitsuya scrambled away, his phone had been thrown from his hand upon the incident. "Are you drunk already?"
For a while, Draken didn't answer. Mitsuya wondered if Draken was indeed drunk and if he forgot that he was with Mitsuya.
But he sounded very sober when he spoke.
"Isn't it rude to punch your boyfriend?"
Mitsuya scoffed. "What the hell you're talking about, you freaking kissed me out of nowhere!"
Draken crossed his arms over his chest. "Isn't that what a boyfriend should do?"
If Draken had been drunk and completely appeared sober as heck, then Mitsuya had to not have known him that well.
He glanced at the table. There were hardly five bottles combined from his side and Draken's.
He couldn't be drunk.
"I don't know if you're drunk or not, but you know, we're not really dating right?" Mitsuya wasn't deterred by the way Draken staring at him. "You're my fake boyfriend, not the real one."
"Why not?"
Okay, Mitsuya hadn't thought about it.
The point of the whole thing was to trick his mother to stop pestering him from getting a boyfriend and to keep her out of matchmaking him with some random guys. Draken swooped in and offered himself to be his fake boyfriend.
It was his idea.
"We had a deal, Draken," Mitsuya said. "You're getting your boyfriend experience and I get my fake boyfriend."
"I don't ask you about any deal, Mitsuya," Draken leaned to the sofa behind him. "I ask you, why can't we just be real boyfriends?"
Mitsuya blinked.
Why can't they just be real boyfriends?
Well, first of all, they were friends. Best friends.
It was written in the stars, among the planets, through their twinning dragon tattoos.
You can't just shift such a platonic relationship to a romantic one, so easily.
Except, he had experienced every romantic thing with Draken, except the kissing.
Except, he and Draken had acted so perfectly romantic as boyfriends for these last weeks
They were friends!
Of course, it would be different from boyfriends!
Like—like, friends do not do the things they do!
Friends don't be so comfortable acting as a couple even if it was to trick someone.
It would be weird.
It would be strange.
And it would ruin their friendship.
Except, none of those happened.
"It's a very easy question, Mitsuya," Draken's voice pierced through his noisy thoughts.
It is, Mitsuya agreed very much. Then, why couldn't he just answer it?
Because he knew the answer already, he just didn't want to admit it.
"If I were to ask you to be my boyfriend, for real, back then, would you accept it?"
Mitsuya looked up.
For a moment, he thought he had never seen Draken like this. It was like he had been looking at Draken through a thick veil, obscuring his view.
And now that the veil was lifted, he could see Draken properly for the first time.
He decided it wouldn't be the wrong move to slide closer to Draken.
"If I were to offer you the experience of having a boyfriend," Mitsuya emphasized his next words. "for real, back then, would you?"
Everything happened in the blink of an eye after that.
Mitsuya didn't have time to contemplate, or to be discouraged, or worse, to back off, when suddenly Draken was in his personal space.
"Yes, I would," Draken made sure to look into Mitsuya's eyes when he said that. "Would you?"
Mitsuya shook his head. "I wouldn't."
Draken's face fell at that, Mitsuya almost couldn't restrain himself from snickering when he added. "That'd be unrealistic of me to want something like that from you, it's way too good to be true, and—"
Yeah, he should just shut up.
Mitsuya agreed that Draken should just shut him up too.
Preferably with his lips.
Just like that.
"Draken, wait, wait—" Mitsuya panted between the endless attacks, trying to push Draken back.
Draken stopped immediately, putting an adequate distance.
"What?"
It's bad, Mitsuya thought.
Draken's voice was hoarse with want, the sight of the swollen-kissed lips weren't better too.
I did that, Mitsuya stared in awe.
Nothing he wanted more than resuming into their previous activity.
But there was still one thing left to do.
"I should tell my mom, I finally got a boyfriend," when he traced Draken's lips with his forefinger, Mitsuya let himself grin, not caring if he looked stupid doing it. "this time, it's for real."
