Chapter 1: Real World

Chapter Text

Subspace hasn’t let go of Medkit. That traitor ditched him after their little fight, how could he not? He was thinking back to the times they spent together, their arguments, how they couldn’t agree with each other when he knew he was right and that Medkit was wrong. They needed more destruction, more power, in order to win over Playground. He said that many times, trying to get Medkit to get convinced but oh he didn’t. All he wanted was more heals for the medical team to heal the people, which wasn’t going to even be a big help, he thought back then. Oh how he despised him.

Subspace decided that he was going to end this once and for all. He was going to get rid of Medkit himself, no Biografts needed. He was confident that he was going to find Medkit and get rid of that pesky traitor he once called a friend.

But at the same time, he was doubting himself. He didn’t want to actually kill him. All the times they have spent together, would go to waste. He wouldn’t get to see him during fights anymore, or make fun of him to make himself feel better.

Oh well, he had it all planned out anyway, there’s no going back now!

Subspace stumbled upon Medkit, who was looking for his boss who happened to leave him without him knowing. He frantically glanced around and spotted Subspace, locking eyes on to him.

Medkit raised his gun, ready to fire if necessary. “What are you doing here, Subspace? What do you want,” he said, skeptically.

”What, the first thing you say to me when you see me is that? Real nice of you, Meddy,” Subspace joked. In reality, he wanted to talk to him a little before that time ends.

“Just answer my goddamn question.”

“Well, if you’re really interested, I just wanted to have a chat with you is all! You know, it’s been so long ever since we’ve had a proper conversation because of going after each other’s throats and stuff,” he lied.

“You’re bluffing.”

“How could you say such mean things to me Meddy?!”

“Am I really.”

“Yes!”

They continue on this bickering for a while, determining whether the other is telling the truth or not. They both missed this. Even though they despised each other, they missed the little verbal back and forth fights they had, and yet they were no where close to ending this conversation, until..

”Well Meddy, if you really want to know…

since you wouldn’t cooperate with me into holding an actual conversation one last time…”

One last time? Medkit thought.

“…it’s time to end what I came here for,” Subspace said with a maniacal grin.

What? What does he mean?

Wait…

No.

He wouldn’t.

”Subspace, what-“

In a blink of an eye, Subspace threw a crystal towards Medkit. He barely had the time to react, the pinkish crystal missing an inch near his cheek. He stumbled back and without hesitation, he raised the gun and started firing.

His vision felt blurry, he didn’t know what he was doing or where he was shooting. He just wanted this to end.

The world around him suddenly felt dark.

Blam.

He suddenly felt pain rush through his body. Especially his torso.

Subspace had mist walked right behind him and punctured him through his stomach.

Medkit collapsed on to his knees, gasping for air, struggling to keep the blood from flowing out. He felt his eyes getting watery.

Subspace stepped in front of him, showing him who’s the one that has control. “So Meddy, how does it feel? Does it feel the same as having your eye ripped out?”

”You bastard.”

Subspace chuckles. “Me? Bastard? You’re the bastard here! You’re the only person that I have considered a friend back then! You shouldn’t even have left Blackrock in the first place! Do you know how lonely I was?!”

A friend?

No, he was obviously lying. There’s no way Subspace saw him as a friend.

Right?

As Subspace rambled on, Medkit reached for his gun. He still had strength for one last shot.

One…

Two…

Three…

In the brink of a mere second.

Bang. Through the head.

Subspace fell back onto the hard, cold, stony concrete. What just happened?

Medkit slowly crawled next to him, coughing out liters of blood.

“Who’s the weak one now?”

Subspace stayed silent, eyes forcefully trying to stay awake.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want it to end this way Subspace.”

Medkit lied down next to him. Subspace didn’t have the courage to speak with the  consciousness he had left. He laughed to himself, wondering if Blackrock would even remember him after this event. Then he finally spoke up.

“I guess this is it huh? I didn’t think it would turn out this way. Me, Blackrock’s greatest dying with his enemy? Back then I would’ve never thought it would be ever true. “ Tears ran down his face.

“And yet, here you are.” Medkit said, harshly, feeling a bit of solemn for Subspace.

Subspace thought to himself.

“Let’s cherish these last few moments together Meddy…”

Subspace turned to look into the harsh, cold eyes of Medkit.

They both stayed silent for a while before Subspace wrapped his arms around Medkit, seeking warmth.

“My head hurts, Meddy.”

Medkit stared at him before speaking,

“My whole body hurts, Subspace.”

Medkit melted into the arms of the other, hugging back before he, as well, followed.

They both closed their eyes.

Their rotting corpses laid still on the concrete as the rain came along and poured on them.

Hyperlaser soon found the both lying on the ground.

He didn’t want to bother them.

He didn’t shed a single tear.

The mercenary soon reported about what he just saw.
