Work Text:

Dale sat with his legs up on his desk. He scrolled on an ipad (designed by him, obviously) through his social media Y. Yeah, he was supposed to be working, but he just made a new update for the app and wanted to giggle at all the people angry at him. Ever since he bought the app, Chirp, he wanted to test how shitty he could make it.

He almost forgot he was expecting someone until two knocks came from his door.

Dale jumped, almost dropping the ipad. He scrambled to put it away and look casual. He smoothed over his hair, clearing his voice, “Come in.”

The door slowly opened, revealing a young man with bright purple hair. He almost had a glowing effect on him. Dale couldn't believe the man in front of him. He almost looked magical. The younger man stepped inside, closing the door with his cane.

“Mr. Dimmadome? I'm here for the job interview, the babysitting position?” The man said, standing there slightly awkwardly.

Dale went bright red. Who was this gorgeous model of a man that just walked into his office!? And why wasn't he in a magazine instead wanting to be a babysitter!?!?

“Ah, um, yes! Please, take a seat, Mr…?” Dale mustered up his most nonchalant grin, trailing off when he realised he didn't even know the beautiful man's name. Actually, Dale didn't even really remember looking for a babysitter, but he sure as hell was now!

The man sat down, with great help from his cane. His other hand had a folder with papers that he set on the desk. He looked disinterested in Dale as he told him his name, “Peri.”

Peri reached over the desk to shake Dale's hand, who quickly returned the handshake. Peri looked at his hands in horribly hidden disgust.

“Oh. Well, lovely to meet you Peri. As you know, I am looking for a babysitter for my son Devolp- I mean… Devin.” Dale sat back in his chair, explaining the position to the disinterested but handsome man in front of him.

Peri rolled his eyes, “I'm aware, I read the job description. Here is my resume,” Peri said with faked enthusiasm, sliding the folder to him, “I'm sure since you are such a busy man, you didn't get the chance to look through it?”

Dale chuckled, taking the light purple folder, making far too much eye contact for Peri's comfort. It made Dale's heart flutter knowing that Peri, the most pretty man he's ever seen, thought he was so important. He was, but hearing it said out loud was better.

“Yes yes, very busy, and very wealthy.” Dale not so subtly hinted at Peri, wiggling his eyebrows at the younger man. It took everything in Peri to not gag at him. He's come so far, he's not gonna blow this now!

Peri let out a forced giggle, trying to butter the man up. Dale finally opened the damn folder, looking at the kind of pathetic resume. Peri had only had 1 job, and it was a babysitter for a different kid. He had been his babysitter for years but the kid outgrew him. Dale nodded at the resume. It was promising, even though there was barely anything on it. But if he had babysat the same kid for 7 years, he definitely had experience. Plus, if he hired him, he would have more opportunities to flirt with him!

“Hmm… impressive. You were with the same kid for years? That's a long time. Any other children you babysat?” Dale asked, raising an eyebrow at Peri and lowering the folder to look him in the eyes again. A greedy golden smile on his face. Peri's eye twitched.

He shook his head, “No Mr. Dimmadome, just the one. He was a handful and his parents weren't home often so I didn't have the time for other kids. But now I am completely free since he is now an adult.”

Peri crossed his left leg over his right leg. He couldn't help but shift uncomfortably in his seat with the way Dale kept his eyes on him. It made his skin crawl. He would rather just be a babysitter, he didn't want to get involved with a rich man like this.

Dale nodded along, “Oh of course, of course. Well, so far, I'm liking what I'm seeing and hearing.”

Dale bit his lip as he looked the younger man in front of him up and down. Peri's smile wavered for a second. He was starting to really regret showing up.

“You know what? You're hired! You sound like the perfect fit for this position.” Dale exclaimed as he laid back in his chair, legs up on his desk. Peri looked at him confused.

“That's… that's it? No background check? No other questions? Not gonna introduce me to your son? Nothing??” Peri was both excited and disturbed he got the job so easy. He studied the man's face, seeing no sign of sarcasm or joke.

Dale kept his golden smile on his face as he leaned over and clicked a button on his phone, “Au pairs, bring Devin in here.”

They both sat in silence for a moment, until two Au pairs brought in the billionaire's son by the scuff. He looked unbothered by this, not even bothering to look up from his ipad. Peri cringed back as he watched the child not care about being dragged in like this. It was almost as if he was used to it.

“Devin! Meet your brand new babysitter, Peri! Say hi, why don't you?” Dale introduced him, gesturing over to him. Dev rolled his eyes, the Au pairs dropping him down. He looked up from his ipad, the shades falling down his nose to show the top of his eyes.

Dev looked him up and down, before pushing his glasses back up. He looked back to his ipad, “Whatever. I'm too old for a babysitter.”

“Well, it's nice to meet you too Devin. I'm excited to watch after ya!” Peri bent down to his level to speak to him, leaning heavily on his cane. The gesture made Dev look up at him again, his frown turning to a small smile.

The gesture made something go off in Dale's chest. He wanted, no.. needed that man.

And he was going to get him.
