Summary
If something could make Aesop happy, it was someone showing him they cared. With how badly the boy was bullied in school and with how much other students didn’t seem to like him for reasons he didn’t understand, he always had a hard time figuring out who did and didn’t like him.
His classmates didn’t. His mother did. Most of his teachers didn’t, at least with how annoyed they would look when they had to talk to him or when he came into the classroom.
But one of them did. Désire liked Aesop a lot, even the boy could now tell that. He made sure no one was mean in his class to the boy and he made sure he was able to learn everything he was supposed to. Other teachers would just brush him off and not even bother helping him out. Désire’s care for him ran deep.
