Through the sweet-smelling air of Smiling valley walked a little dog.
The sunlight gleamed off of the yellow ribbons tied around her fluffy ears as she happily skipped along the pathway.
Her name was Daylight Doggy.
The dame was happy, because she was going to visit all her friends to see how they were doing, and nothing made her happier than seeing her friends happy.
Her first stop on the list was the blue house surrounded by palm trees, near the beach.
Daylight walks up to it and knocks on the door.
“It’s open.” Says a voice from inside.
Daylight smiles as she walks in. “Hey there Bubble!”
The blue elephant was busy dusting her bookcase while standing on a ladder. “Good morning, Daylight!” She says, smiling at her.
Daylight walks over. “Dusting the bookcase?”
Bubble nods. “They’ve gotten dusty again…” she says with a humph.
Daylight looks sad. “Oh dear…”
Bubble shrugs. “It’s no big deal, I'll have them dusted again in an hour or two.” she says.
Daylight smiles. “Good!”
Bubble nods. “It is good.” she says. “At least they haven’t fallen off the shelves.”
Daylight nods. “That’s true.”
She giggles. “Remember when Rosie tried to grind on the roof of your house with her skateboard and knocked everything off?”
Bubble groans. “Ugh, don’t remind me.” she says. “It took me DAYS to get everything back in alphabetical order.
Daylight laughs. “Yeah, Rosie can be kinda reckless sometimes.”
Bubble rolls her eyes. “Indeed…” She says.
Daylight then walks towards the door. “Well, glad you’re doing good, see you later Bubs!”
Bubble waves goodbye. “You too Daylight!”
Daylight exits the blue house, carefully shutting the door.
Next, she walks west of the bungalow, to the beehive shaped house, where she sees a handsome red bear working in his flower garden, Mr Robby Roselove.
“Good morning, Robby!” Daylight says happily as she walks up to him.
Robby turns around, smiling. “Why hello there Daylight.” He says with a smile. “How are you today?”
“Oh I'm just as happy as can be!” Daylight responds. “I’m going around and seeing how everyone is doing.”
Robby smiles. ‘That’s sweet,” he says. “You’re the greatest, Sunny.”
Daylight giggles at the nickname.
Robby remembered something.
“Oh, I have something for you!” He says.
He pulls out a pretty peach-colored rose from nowhere, handing it to her.
Daylight blushes, accepting it. “O-oh! Thank you!”
Robby smiles. “I thought it was almost as pretty as you.”
Daylight blushes more, her tail wagging. “Aww! That’s so sweet!”
She goes over to kiss him on the cheek. “Thank you so much!” she says as she puts the rose behind her ear.
Robby blushes. “Aww, it was nothing, Sunny.” he says. “You look cute with that in your ear.”
Daylight giggles, swatting the air. “Oh stop.”
Robby smiles. “So, are you doing anything this evening~?”
Daylight nods sadly. “Yeah, I promised Kath I’d help her wash her fur.” She says. “And you know she can’t do it by herself.”
Robby’s smile fades. “Darn…”
Daylight giggles. “It’s okay Robs… maybe we can have dinner together tomorrow night.” She says, booping his nose.
Robby smiles. “Yeah, that sounds like a plan.”
Daylight turns to leave. “I’ll see you then, my dashing rose prince.” she says, blowing another kiss.
Robby catches it and blows some back to Daylight, who giggles and blushes as she walks up northeast.
When Daylight comes to the stone tower, she knocks on the door, waiting for an answer.
Her unicorn friend shyly answers the door. “U-uh.. Hi?”
Daylight Waves. “Hello Arty!”
Artycorn smiles softly. “O-oh, hi Daylight!” he says. “What brings you here?”
Daylight smiles. “I’m just going around and saying hello to everyone.” she says. “How are you?”
Arty fluffs his mane. “Oh, I'm fine!” he says happily. “I just finished up a new painting.”
Daylight’s tail wags. “Oooh! Can I see?”
Arty nods shyly. “Uh, sure,” he says. “Come in.”
He politely steps aside as Daylight walks in, going to get the canvas and showing it to her. “W-what do you think?”
Daylight looks at the canvas, which was of their green lagomorph friend riding a bolt of lightning like a surfboard through a sea of storm clouds.
Daylight’s eyes light up. “Wow, Arty, that looks so cool!”
Arty smiles. “Y-you really think so?”
Daylight nods. “Mhm!” she says happily. “You should show it to him!”
Arty blushes. “O-oh no, I couldn’t do that..” he says, nervous.
Daylight’s tail stops wagging. “Why not?”
Arty turns away. “I-I don’t think he’d like it…”
Daylight giggles. “Are you kidding? I think he’d love it!”
Arty turns back to her. “R-really?”
Daylight nods.
Arty smiles a bit. “M-maybe I could show him sometime…”
Daylight claps. “You should!”
Arty blushes a little. “Y-you really think he’ll like it?”
Daylight nods. “Absolutely.”
Arty smiles and one-arm hugs her. “Thanks Daylight!” he says happily. “You’re a great friend.”
Daylight hugs back. “Aww, what are friends for?”
After admiring his painting for a little longer, she turns towards the door. “Well, I gotta run, but think about it, okay?” she says.
Arty nods, smiling. “I will!”
Once Daylight exits, she shuts the door carefully, then sets off towards her next destination.
Making her way down south, she comes across the home of her daredevil friend, who was busy using golden spray paint and a stencil of a rose to decorate her skateboard.
She walks up to her. “Hi Rosie!”
Rosie looks up to her, smiling.
“Hey dude. How’s it hangin’?” The Rooster girl asks.
“I’m doing pretty good!” Daylight replies. “How are you?”
Rosie stencil-sprays another rose. “Doing cool as ever.” she says.
She shows Daylight her skateboard. “Doesn’t it look awesome?!”
Daylight’s eyes sparkle. “Yeah!” she says. “It looks amazing!”
She giggles. “Arty would be really proud.”
Rosie blushes a bit. “You think so?”
Daylight nods. “I know so. You should totally show him.”
Rosie smiles. “Thanks.” She says.
Her smile then fades. “I dunno about showing him though…” She says somberly. “I mean he probably thinks Jun is cooler than I am…”
Daylight pats her back. “Maybe he’s interested in both of you?” She says.
She giggles. “I mean it’s not like any of us have just one boy or girlfriend.” She says. “I mean look at me.”
Rosie smiles. “You know what? You’re right.” She says happily. “I think I'll go show him tomorrow, when I finish it.”
Daylight smiles. “That’s the spirit!”
Rosie then gets some silver spray paint and stars to stencil some stars. “It’ll look astronomical!”
Daylight giggles. “Well, you have fun with that.” she says as she turns to leave. “I gotta go, but I'll see you later!”
Rosie smiles. “Okay, Catcha later sis!”
Daylight then sets off on her way again.
She goes across the valley to the barn/house of her chef friend, Peckish Piggy.
She knocks on the door, and a “it’s open!” is heard.
Daylight walks in and goes to the kitchen, where he can usually be found.
She walks in, waving. “Hi!”
The boar looks over from the stove, smiling. “Howdy.” He says. “What brings you here?”
Daylight walks over. “I’m just saying hello to all my friends.” she says. “So, what are you up to?”
Peck walks over and picks up a tray off the counter.
“I was just finishing up these Chocolate strawberries.” he says, showing her the tray. “Care for one?”
Daylight’s eyes sparkle. “Ooh, my favorite!” she says, picking one up and taking a bite out of it. “Yummy!”
(yes I know dogs can’t eat chocolate hush It’s a cartoon)
Peck smiles. “Glad you like ‘em.” he says. “I was planning to invite the others over so we can all share them.”
He snort-laughs. “Or maybe just eat ‘em all myself, I haven’t decided yet.”
Daylight giggles and eats the rest of it. “You silly pig.”
Peck smirks. “So, anything interesting going on with the others?”
Daylight shrugs. “Not really.” she says. “Rosie was painting her new skateboard and Arty was painting a Picture of Jun.”
Peck nods. “I figured,” he says. “Same stuff as usual.”
Daylight nods. “Yup, just another normal day in the valley.”
Peck walks back over to the stove. “Welp, I better get started on those caramel apples.” he says, gesturing to the basket of apples on the counter. “I know how much the others love them.”
Daylight giggles. “Okay, I'll leave you to it.” She says, turning to leave. “Bye Peck.”
Peck waves. “So long.”
Daylight walks out of the house and continues on her way.
When Daylight walks up north to the carrot shaped house, she spots her bunny friend, Jumpy Junebug.
He was practicing basketball, trying to see how high he could jump while slam dunking it.
“Hi Jun!” she says, waving.
The green lagomorph stops jumping for a moment, looking at her with a smile. “Oh, Hey Daylight!” He says happily. “What’s up?”
Daylight smiles. “Oh not much, I was just walking around and saying hi to everyone.” she says.
Jun smiles. “Cool.” he says. “I was just working on basketball dunking practice.”
Daylight giggles. “I can see that.” she says. “What’s your best record so far?”
Jun smirks. “Not to brag, but the best one so far was 12 feet.”
Daisy’s eyes sparkle. “Wow! That’s impressive!”
Jun nods proudly. “I am going to absolutely SCHOOL Rosie at our next game.”
Daylight nods. “Oh, speaking of the others, I think that…”
She steps closer.
“I think you should go see Arty!” She says happily. “He has something for you!”
Jun blushes a little. “Oh, really?” He says.
Daylight nods happily.
Jun smiles shyly. “Maybe I'll do that after I get done with basketball practice.”
Daylight giggles. “Well then, I'll let you keep practicing.” She says, turning to leave. “Good luck, bunny!”
Jun waves goodbye. “I will! And thank you!”
Daylight winks. “Anytime.”
Finally, she heads down south to the center of the valley.
There was only one critter left to visit.
The one she liked the most of all.
She goes to the center of the valley, to the very tall cat tree house and climbs up the giant fake tail.
She had no idea why Kath had this installed, but she was thankful for it.
Once she’s inside the house, she walks upstairs to the bedroom, opening it and peeking in.
Indeed, her cat friend is fast asleep.
Daylight smiles, walking over and admiring her.
Her soft purple fur sparkled like molten amethyst, and she was cutely purring as she slept.
Daylight giggled, and started to gently pet her ears.
“Wake up, kitten~”
Nappy Kathy slowly starts to stir, opening her eyes.
“Well hello there, gorgeous~” Kath says, her eyes half lidded.
Daylight smiles, her tail wagging. “Hey cutie.”
Kath giggles. “If I'm your sleeping cutie, then you must kiss me to wake me up.” she says mischievously, closing her eyes.
Daylight laughs. “Alright, fine.”
She leans down to give her a kiss, Kath happily wrapping her arms around Daylight’s neck.
Daylight slowly pulls back. “Alright, time to get up, sweet kitten.”
Kath groans. “Ugh, fine.”
She sits up hanging her legs off the edge of the bed. ‘Say hi to everyone else already?’ she signed.
Daylight nodded, sitting next to her. “Yup! You’re the last one I came to see because I wanted to save the best for last!”
Kath blushes a bit. ‘Oh you.’ she signs, swatting the air.
Daylight giggles, nuzzling her cheek.
‘So, is anything interesting going on?’ Kath signs.
Daisy gives her a play-by-play of what happened today, basically reading her this entire story so far.
Kath giggles. ‘I wonder if Jun and Rosie will get into a full-on war over Artie’s affections.’
Daylight shudders. “I hope not.” She says. “They get competitive enough during sports games.”
Kath smirks. ‘It’d be SO entertaining to watch though.’
Daylight giggles, remembering something.
“Okay, let’s go wash your fur.”
Kath sighs. ‘Do we HAVE to…?’
Daylight nods. “You haven’t had a bath in at least a week…”
Kath begrudgingly gets up. “Okayyyy….”
Daylight smiles. “I’ll go get the bath ready.”
She goes to the bathroom and turns the water on, then feels it to make sure it’s the perfect temperature before adding in the lavender-vanilla scented foaming soap, then goes to get the mini radio to put on some relaxing music, and gets the towels ready.
“Okay Kath, all ready!”
Kath walks in with a smile, knowing that washing her fur wouldn’t nearly be as bad when she had it washed by the girl she loved most.
