   Martyn couldn’t move, couldn’t tear his eyes away from the horror in front of him.

   His hands were slick with blood, the axe now impossibly heavy in his grip, dripping with viscera. His stomach churned violently as the metallic taste of bile crept up his throat. The coppery smell of blood clung to him, thick and suffocating.
