Our story begins in 1832 a poor family marries their 16 year old daughter Elizabeth off to a very rich man William Cadwell for money and hope that there daughter will be able to live a luxurious life. Being unhappy with this arrangement but wanting her family to live comfortably she goes off to live with William Cadwell. Cadwell seems nice at first but that changes I'm very quickly after they move into the Cadwell estate. very quickly she be friends the headmaid. Years later Cadwell is unhappy that Elizabeth cannot birth children therefore cannot give him a son so he beats her to death in the foyer. After the handmaid here's about this she begins to slip arsenic into cadwell's tea poisoning him and then herself. with cadwell's death all of his money and a state go to the Clarks.
