Work Text:
It happened again.
Erich Honecker had a nightmare about his parents again. They were yelling at him, calling him a "stupid capitalist", and hitting him with the Communist Manifesto.
He got out of bed, sweating and gasping for air. His parents were abusive and often beat him up and insulted him for everything he did. It was the only thing he thought of, and it started to give him nightmares every night.
Rushing into the bathroom, Honecker grabbed a knife and stabbed both his wrists with it. The blood was quickly dripping to the floor, but he did nothing to stop it.
Honecker sighed and continued to cut himself, making each cut deeper and more painful. He NEEDED to get these memories out of his head, and this was the only way he knew how.
After a few minutes of cutting himself, he left and flopped back down onto his bed. He took a deep breath to calm himself down.
Honecker knew he needed to find another way to deal with this. He couldn't just hurt himself every night. He was a leader, and leaders shouldn't show weakness, right?
