We see Robotnik standing in his office, reviewing a terminal. Suddenly, Metal Sonic enters the room, holding a Manx in a lab coat, who he tosses onto the ground in front of Robotnik.
Robotnik: Excellent work, Metal!
He then turns to the Manx.
Robotnik: It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Boobowski. I've heard great things about your work.
Boobowski: W-what do you want with me?
Robotnik: Why, that's simple! You see, I looked into your past projects, and I couldn't help but notice you worked on a little something called a ring forge with one... Charles the Hedgehog?
Boobowski: Y-yes, I did, but what does that have to do with anything?
Robotnik: And I thought you were a genius. I want you to build more forges!
Boobowski: What!? Why would I do anything for you, you... you menace!
Robotnik snaps his fingers. In response, Metal grabs a steel pole on Robotnik's desk, before twisting and turning it until it resembles a pretzel.
Robotnik: Because if you don't, Metal is going to do THAT to your spine. Got it?
Boobowski looks petrified.
Boobowski: P-please! You can't do this! I-I've got a daughter!
Robotnik: I know. And I'd hate to leave her an orphan, wouldn't you? So, what do you say?
Boobowski sighs.
Boobowski: I'll get to work.
Robotnik: That's more like it!
Boobowski leaves as Robotnik chuckles to himself. In Knothole, we see the Freedom Fighters gathered in a meeting in the Secret Base, with Sally sitting next to a female Manx.
Sally: Alright, why don't you tell them what you told me.
The Manx steps forward.
Tiara: Well, my name is Tiara Boobowski, and I came to you because my father's been kidnapped!
Sonic: Wait, Boobowski? Like Gazebo Boobowski?
Tiara: Yes, why?
Sonic: Him and Uncle Chuck used to hang out when I was a kid!
Tiara: Well, that makes sense, considering their both brilliant scientists. But back to the point.
Sally: Do you know who kidnapped him?
Tiara: Oh, yes! It was some kind of blue, metal monster! Actually, it kind of looked like you.
She points at Sonic.
Sonic: Sounds like Metal Sonic. And if he swiped your dad, it's probably because Robotnik wants him for something.
Tiara: But why would Robotnik need my father? He could probably build anything my father could.
Sally: We don't know why he took your father, but we do know we'll get him back. Do you have any idea where Robotnik might be?
Tiara: Well, when the robot was about to leave, I was able to catch Robotnik communicating with him. He said something about a "secret project" near a "sunny beach".
Sally: Well, it's as good of a lead we're gonna get. I think I've got an idea for where Robotnik was talking about...
She uses Nicole to bring up a map of Mobius, before zooming in on a specific part of the planet, which has a beach.
Sally: Here it is! The Sunny Beach Zone. It used to be a popular place for couples to hang out, before... well, Robotnik happened.
Tiara: Oh, I know this place! It's where Mom and Dad had their first date!
Sonic: Well, we've got a date too! Come on, guys!
The heroes begin to head out. At the Beach, we see Gazebo working on a new ring forge, overseen by Agent Stone and Metal Sonic.
Gazebo: There, it's done.
Stone: Alright. Metal Sonic, you take him to the next location. I'll get to work here.
Gazebo: Wait, I haven't had the chance to stabilize it yet! If you use it now, it could destroy everything!
Stone: I think I'll manage.
With that, Metal takes off with Gazebo as Stone activates the Forge.

Meanwhile, we see the heroes arrive at the beach.
Sonic: Man, I see why people used this as a romantic getaway.
Sally: It's beautiful, isn't it?
Sonic: Yeah... But we can sight see later! We've got a scientist to save!
The heroes begin to make their way down the beach, destroying badnik's as they go, as well as picking up a Chaos Emerald. Suddenly, a giant lobster robot lands in front of them.

Sonic: Woah, giant enemy crab!
Tails: Lobsters and crabs aren't the same thing.
Sonic: Oh yeah.
The lobster attempts to attack them with it's giant claws.
Sonic: Alright, let's do this!
Tiara: Allow me!
Sonic: Huh?
Tiara runs towards the lobster, pulling out what looks like a scepter, brandishing it at the machine, before firing small balls of energy at it's surface as it tries to attack her. Eventually, the lobster is defeated.
Sonic: Whoa, what was that?
Tiara: It's a battle scepter! My dad made it for me in case I got into a fight.

The heroes continue to make their way down the beach. Eventually, they come across Stone, still holding the Ring Forge.
Sonic: Is that...?
Sally: It looks like the Ring Forge! But I swear we left it back home!
Tiara: Robotnik must have forced my dad to build it for him.
Sonic: So, Eggmans trying to make his own Power Rings now, huh? Not on my watch!
Sonic runs over to Stone.
Sonic: You know, I'm pretty sure you don't have the rights to use that, pal.
Stone: Well, it was built by one of its original inventors, and he seemed okay with it, so I'm pretty sure I'm off the hook.
Sonic: Only because you kidnapped him first!
Stone: Still.
Stone places the Forge against a rock, where it continues to generate a ring. he then pulls out a remote, pressing a button on it. Suddenly, a large machine falls from the sky, with two large fists on it. The machine grabs Stone, placing him in the cockpit.

The machine attempts to punch Sonic, but he dodges, sending the first crashing into the glass. The machine attempts to grab Sonic next, but he dodges again, sending the first crashing into the glass again. The machine attempts to crush Sonic, but he dodges, sending the first into the glass. The heroes are eventually able to defeat the machine, causing Stone to retreat.
Sonic: Alright, now to deal with the bootleg forge!
They turn towards the forge, which is shaking and sparking.
Tails: Um, I don't think it's supposed to do that...
Tiara: Oh my gosh, it's going to explode!
Sonic: And how big is that boom gonna be?
Tiara: Big enough to turn this beach into glass.
Sonic: Alright, so how do we stop it?
Rotor: Sonic, try using the Chaos Emerald!
Sonic: You sure, Rote?
Rotor: You got a better idea?
Sonic: Good point.
Sonic runs over to the Forge with the Emerald in his hand.
Sonic: Alright Emerald, uh, do your thing!
In response, the Emerald creates a barrier around the forge as it explodes. As the explosion disapates, the heroes see a Green Ring floating inside the barrier, which disapates.
Sonic: What happened?
Tails: Well, Stone was using the Forge to make a Power Ring before we got here...
Rotor: The Forge must have absorbed the energy of the Emerald before it exploded!
Tails & Rotor: And it must have transfered that energy to the Ring!
Sonic: So it's like a... Chaos Ring? Neat!
Sally: We should hold on to it. It might come in handy later.
Sonic puts the ring in his backpack.
Sonic: Alright, where to next?
Rotor: Well, I think I might have something... while you guys were fighting, I had Nicole hack in to Stone's coms. Turns out, Robotniks got his own satellite station nearby.
Sonic: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go pay it a visit!
The heroes run off.

Eventually, we see the heroes make it to the edge of a city.
Sonic: This the place, Rote?
Rotor: Yeah. If we go in a straight line, we should make it to the satellite station.
Sonic: Alright, let's do it to it!
The heroes begin to make their way to the station, gathering a Chaos Emerald on the way. Eventually, they make it to the outside of the station. As they are about to enter it, they are met by a large machine that resembles a dodecahedron with an eye on each side, surrounded by eight wings.
Sonic: Must be the welcome party! Let's go introduce ourselves.

The machine begins to attack with it's wings, trying to slice at the heroes with them, while also shooting them at the heroes like sawblades. Eventually, the heroes are able to destroy the machine. Afterwards, they enter the building.

The heroes begin to make their way through station, destroying the security along the way. Eventually, they come across another Ring Forge, creating another Ring on top of a table.
Sonic: Alright, how long before this thing goes boom?
Suddenly, a cop car with a missile launcher on top of it bursts in from the side of the building, with Snively driving it.
Snively: Attention, rodents. You see all under arrest for trespassing on private property. Surrender, or I will use force.
Sonic: Oh please, you'd use force anyway, needle-nose.
Snively: True enough, I suppose.

Snively begins firing missiles at the heroes, while also attempting to ram into them with his car. The heroes are able to dodge his attacks, and defeat him, causing him to flee. They then turn their attention to the Ring Forge, which has already begun to come apart. Sonic uses the second Emerald to contain the explosion and create another Chaos Ring.
Sonic: Why do I feel like this is gonna be a pattern?
Bunnie examines a crate nearby.
Bunnie: Uh, any of ya'll ever hear of the "Rob Nikilison Health Clinic?"
Sally: No, why?
Bunnie: Cause these here crates got their logo on 'em.
Sonic: Why would Robotnik have a bunch of supplies from some random health clinic?
Sally: Maybe because it's not random.
Sally brings out Nicole.
Sally: Nicole, do you have any information on the Rob Nikilson Health Clinic?
Nicole: Accessing, Sally. The Robert Nikilson Health Clinic claims to be an organisation dedicated to combating illness. However, it has been revealed to be a front for Robotnik, where he is creating chemical weapons and artificial diseases to use against his enemies.
Sonic: Chemical warfare? That creep never gives up!
Sally: Can you show us where the building is located, Nicole?
Nicole: Of course, Sally.
The location is shown on Nicole's screen.
Sally: Alright, let's head over there.
The heroes leave the building after grabbing the Chaos Ring.

The heroes eventually make their way to the factory, making their way inside by hanging off of a truck.
Sonic: Alright, let's get to work!
The heroes make their way through the factory, destorying badnik's and the harmful products being manufactured. They also manage to grab a Chaos Emerald. Eventually, they are interuppted by a machine that resembles the woodcutter badnik from Mushroom Hill wearing a doctor's outfit.
Sonic: Hmm, somehow, I've got a feeling this guy isn't exactly legit. Don't know why.

The machine begins attacking the heroes, throwing giant pills towards them, while also attempting to stab them with a giant needle. Eventually, the heroes are able to defeat the machine. Once they do, however, a small dart gun extends from it's head, aiming for Tails. As it fires, Sonic takes the dart instead. As soon as it does, Sonic collapses, clutching his stomach and groaning in pain.
Sally: Nicole, check his vitals!
Nicole: Scanning, Sally. The substance he was injected with seems to be a liquid form of gastroenteritis, more commonly known as stomach flu.
Sonic: So what, I've got a stomach ache. I can take it.
Sonic attempts to get up, but almost immediately collapses again.
Sally: Sonic, you can't even stand up! What are we gonna do? It's not like we can just wait for him to get better, we don't have that time!
Nicole: I think I can help. I have studied the product list of this facility, and I have found that one of the items listed is "stomach flu medicne.
Sally: Well, it's a long shot, but it just might work. Come on, guys!

The heroes continue through the factory, with Rotor carrying Sonic on his back. Eventually, they come across Swatbots loading crates onto a train, with Stone overseeing them.
Sally: Hey!
Stone: Princess, as much as I enjoy our little fights, I'm kinda on a deadline here, so...
Sally: You're not the only one. Sonic got hit by one of your viruses, and he needs a cure!
Stone: Oh, are you talking about the stomach flu? Because the doctor was working on a cure for it, and it just so happens that I have a vial of it right here.
He pulls out a vial with a blue liquid inside it, before placing it back in his pocket.
Stone: Of course, I can't just give it to you, so you'll have to be at me first. Good luck!
He hops on the train, which takes off.
Tails: I'll stop the train!

Tails begins to chase after the train. Upon seeing him, The Swatbots inside begin to throw boxes at him, including a few with springs on top of them. Tails uses the spiring boxes to jump up and hit the train directly. After a few attacks to the train, the Swatbots change to exploding barrels, along with a few spring boxes. Eventually, Tails is able to attack the train enough for it to derail. Stone crawls out of the train, battered.
Stone: Not bad, kid. Alright, catch.
He tosses the vial at Tails, who catches it, before Stone flies away with a jetpack. Tails returns to the others, and pours the vial down Sonic's throat, who stops groaning.
Sally: How do you feel?
Sonic takes a moment, before standing up, and running in a circle, before stopping.
Sonic: Way past cool! Great work, big guy!
Tails: Thanks, Sonic.
Rotor: Where do you think that train was going, anyway?
Sally: Nicole?
Nicole: According to railway records, the train was most likely heading to the Bubble Aquarium.
Sonic: Just my luck. I get cured of my stomach ache just in time to go swimming.
Sally: Well, now we can see how you've recovered. Let's go.
The heroes leave the factory, and begin following the train tracks.

Eventually, the heroes reach the entrance to the aquarium, a few feet away from the railway.
Sally: Alright, there has to be something about this aquarium that Robotniks interested in, otherwise he wouldn't have sent a train here.
Sonic: Alright, let's go see what's up.
The heroes enter the Aquarium, destroying badniks as they do. Eventually, they are ambushed by a giant floating tank of water.
Sonic: Well this is new. It doesn't even have a face.

The tank begins to float around the area, dropping electrified water from the faucet on its bottom, while also shooting water from its top. It also fires its handle at the heroes. Eventually, they are able to defeat it.

The heroes continue forward, destroying more badniks. Eventually, they come across another Ring Forge, hanging from a net above the heroes.
Sonic: Alrighty. Tails, gimme a hand?
Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice.
Snively: Aren't you going to visit the whale exhibit, hedgehog?
On cue, a massive whale machine emerges from below them, with Snively piloting it.
Snively: It's simply to die for!
Sonic: Oh come on, that pun didn't have anything to do with the whale. Or the aquarium. Like, if you're gonna make an evil pun, at least do it right.
Snively: You... shut up!

Snively then begins to drive the whale machine around the area, attempting to ram into the heroes with the machine. When that fails, he attempts to jump onto the platform with the machine, bouncing around on it, before returning to the water. The heroes are able to dodge these attacks and attacks him instead. After enough hits, Snively uses the machine to break the platform, sending the heroes into the water below. Afterwards, Snively keeps trying to ram into the heroes with the machine. Eventually, the heroes are able to destroy the machine, sending Snively running, and causing the water to drain from the tank.
Sonic: Okay, new plan. Step one: kick Ro-butt-nik. Step two: Go home. Step three: Shower forever.
Sally: Sonic, the Forge?
Sonic: Oh yeah.
With the help of Tails, Sonic is able to reach the Forge, and usees the Emerald he got at the factory to make another Chaos Ring.
Sonic: Alright, where to next?
Suddenly, Sally's pocket begins to rumble, causing her to pull out a small device.
Tails: Is that the communicator you gave to Knuckles?
Sally: Yeah. I wonder what he's calling about.
She opens it.
Sally: Hello? What? You sure? Ok, we'll be right over, Knuckles.
She closes the device.
Sonic: What's up?
Sally: Apparently, Robotnik's built something on Angel Island.
Sonic: Seriously? What is it?
Sally: I don't know, Knuckles wasn't very specific. Just that it was "big and shiny."
Sonic: Alright, let's head over there and deal with whatever's going on.
The heroes leave the aquarium.

We see the heroes arrive on Angel Island, where they run up to Knuckles, standing in front of a large hole.
Sonic: Alright, we got your message, Knux. What's up?
Knuckles: That!
He points down the hole, which leads to what looks like a sign above a large entrance on the side.
Sally: "Welcome to the Chaos Carnival, entrance free for first time visitors."?
Sonic: Alright, what a bargain! Come on, let's go scope it out!
The heroes enter and begin to move through the Carnival, grabbing another Chaos Emerald as they do. Eventually, they come across a part of the Carniaval that enters the chamber of the Master Emerald.
Knuckles: I should have figured this is what he was after. I'm getting real sick of him trying to steal the Emerald.
Suddenly, the Emerald begins to glow, before the shadow of an odd looking creature emerges.
Sonic: What the heck is that!?
Knuckles: I don't know, but it doesn't look friendly!

The monster begins to attack them, smacking them with it's arms and spinning around. Eventually, it is defeated by the heroes, retreating back into the Master Emerald.
Sonic: Knux, you didn't tell me the Master Emerald was haunted!
Knuckles: I had no idea that thing even existed before now, cut me some slack!

The heroes continue through the Carnival. Eventually, they enter a seemingly empty room.

Suddenly, the platform they're on begins to descend. From above, Stone descends in a machine with large hands on it's sides, and a bumper onto he bottom. Stone begins attempting to crush the heroes with the hands, which the heroes destroy. After both hands are destroyed, the platform they were fighting on is destroyed, causing them to enter free-fall. As they plummet, Stone begins firing small cannonballs at them. Eventually, they are able to attack the machine enough to cause it to be destroyed.
The heroes are able to land safely, coming across another Ring Forge, which they neutralize with the Chaos Emerald, creating another Chaos Ring. After that, they manage to make their way out of the Carnival and onto the outside.
Sonic: Alright, now what?
Suddenly, the ground begins to shake. Suddenly, the heroes turn to see massive parts of the ground being pulled into the sky.
Sonic: Alright, that's new.
Tails: Sonic, look!
Tails points towards a large steel building in the middle of the floating mass.
Tails: That building must be what's causing all of this!
Sonic: Alright, let's head over there!

The heroes begin to make their way towards the building, jumping across the floating bits of land. They also manage to grab another Chaos Emerald as they go. Once they reach the outside of the building, they are ambushed by a machine that resembles a butterfly with a wrecking ball on it's bottom.
Sonic: So, Eggman's feeling old-school, huh? Alright, let's wreck this thing like the good old days!

The machine attempts to attack the heroes with it's wrecking ball, while also occasionally flipping gravity to send the heroes onto peices of debriefs floating above it. Eventually, they are able to destroy the machine. Afterwards, they enter the building.

The heroes begin to make their way through the facility, destroying badnik's as they go. Eventually, they come across the center of the facility, with the Ring Forge being used to power the building.
As they get closer, a machine comes down from above them, covered in leaves. The machine begins to rain down small bombs as the heroes attack it. Eventually, the leaves of the machine fall off, revealing Snively piloting the machine. It grows legs, and attempts to stomp them, while occasionally firing a laser from it's bottom. The heroes are able to defeat the machine, and Snively retreats.
Afterwards, Sonic uses an Emerald to deactivate the Forge while Sally and the others deactivate the machine keeping the islands afloat. After they do, the ground gently lowers down toward the ground, before settling.
Sonic: Alright, any clues for where we can go next?
Sally: Well, I had Nicole access the computer on this base, and I found something...
A map appears on Nicole's screen, with several location marked on it.
Sally: According to this map, the last Forge is somewhere over here, and Robotnik's hideout is over here!
Sonic: Um, you sure, Sal?
Sally: I had Nicole double check the info. It's all accurate.
Sonic: Yeah, but according to the map, Eggman's hiding out in a greenhouse. Which is kinda like me hiding out in an aquarium.
Sally: Well, it's the only information we have.
Sonic: Alright, but we should probably take care of the last forge first.
The heroes take their leave.

Eventually, the heroes arrive at a snowy plain. arrive at a snowy plain. They begin to make their way through the area, grabbing another Chaos Emerald as they do. eventually, they reach the entrance of a Frozen Fortress, with it being guarded by a large robotic yeti.
Sonic: Alright, Hairy the Snowman, let's do this!
The yeti begins to try attacking the heroes, smashing them with it's arms, and throwing massive snowballs at them. Eventually, they are able to defeat the machine and enter the fortress.

The heroes continue to make their way through the fortress, destroying more badniks as they do. Eventually, they reach an elevator, which leads them to a large, spherical rrom with a machine in the center, controlled by Stone. There are many rotating platforms attached to the machine.
The heroes begin to attack the machine as the "arms" of the thing begin shooting bursts of freezing wind out of cannons. At the same time, Stone drops ice bombs on them from above. Eventually, they are able to defeat the machine, causing Stone to run off. Sonic Then uses an Emerald on another forge, creating another Chaos Ring.
Sonic: Alright, let's smash Eggman's greenhouse so we can go home.
The heroes run off. Meanwhile, elsewhere, we see Antoine and Merlina near her cabin.
Merlina: I'm happy to say that, after all of this time, you have finally completed your training, and thus, I have nothing left to teach you. You must uncover your other abilities yourself.
Antoine: Thank you for your time, mistress.
Merlina: Now, now, there's no need for formalities. After all, I am no longer you're teacher, am I?
Antoine: Oui, I am supposing so. Well, I will be of to Knothole then.
Merlina: Wait. I suspect you are needed elsewhere...
Merlina begins to concentrate, glowing with soul energy.
Merlina: I see... a blue hedgehog running towards a greenhouse. A friend of yours, I assume?
Antoine: Oui. Thank you for the heading up, Merlina. I am hoping that we will be seeing each other more.
Antoine runs off, leaving Merlina alone.
Eventually, the heroes would reach the Greenhouse.

Sonic: Alright, this is it, guys! Home stretch!
The heroes enter the greenhouse, making their way through it while grabbing another Chaos Emerald as they do. Eventually, they are ambushed by a giant mosquito badnik.

The mosquito attempts to fire energy balls at them, along with trying to impale them on its long proboscus. Eventually, the heroes are able to defeat the machine.

The heroes proceed onwards, destroying more badniks as they go. Eventually, they come across the entrance to Robotnik's lab.
Sonic: Alright everyone, brace yourselves.
They enter the lab, which surprisingly appears to be empty, with only the final Ring Forge sitting on a table. Sonic uses an Emerald on it, creating the final Chaos Ring.
Sonic: Man, where is he?
Robotnik: Oh, I'm so glad you asked, rodent!
Suddenly, the ground begins to shake. They All rush outside to see a massive ship rising from the earth.
Robotnik: You see, I've decided to leave that base behind, and move on to higher grounds... literally!
The glass of the greenhouse opens up. Further away, Antoine watches this happen.
Antoine: Mon dieu! It seems that I am late to the partying!
He runs towards the greenhouse. Meanwhile, the ship fully emerges from below.
Robotnik: Now, we have sometime before lift off, so feel free to come on board! If you can, that is.
The heroes ares tunned by this, before Sonic is suddenly knocked on his back by a blue blur. He looks up to see Metal Sonic standing above him.
Sonic: Oh right. Forgot about you. Alright, let's wrap this up, tin-can.

Metal Sonic begins trying to fire energy balls at the heroes, while also attempting to ram into them while covered in energy. Eventually, the heroes are able to defeat him, with Tiara landing the final blow.
Tiara: That was for my father, you monster!
Suddenly, the ground begins to rumble again as the ship begins to ascend upwards.
Sally: We have to get on that ship!
Sonic: Alright, here's the plan: Me, Amy and Tails will get on the ship. The rest of you find a way to take down the rest of Eggman's robots. Sound good?
Sally: ...Alright. Be careful, Sonic.
Sonic: Careful? Where's the fun in that?
Sonic, Tails, and Amy run off towards the ship.

Eventually, they are able to run onto the ship as it takes off. Before it gets too high, Antoine is able to jump onto it as well. Sonic and the others begin to run through the ship, wrecking it as they go. Eventually, they are ambushed by a giant snake-like robot.

The snake attempts to lunge at them, biting and attempting to hit them with it's tail. Eventually, the heroes are able to destroy the snake-badnik.

Afterwards, the heroes proceed forward through sections of the ship. Eventually, they reach the core of the ship.
Sonic: Alright, Eggman, we’re here! Come on out so we can beat you up!
Robotnik: With pleasure, rodent. But first…
Suddenly, an electric forcefield surrounds Sonic, before it electrocutes him, causing him to drop the Chaos Rings. As the others are checking on Sonic, the Rings float into cylinders attached to the core, causing energy to be funneled into it. Suddenly, a large robot resembling Robotnik drops down from above.
Robotnik: I have to thank you, Sonic. I mean, you were so helpful, gathering all of MY Chaos Rings for me.
Sonic: You’re rings? You mean…
Robotnik: That’s right. I deliberately left the Ring Forges out in plain sight so that you could use the Emeralds on them.
Tails: But why? Why would you do something like that?
Robotnik: Because now, I have a bunch of artifacts as powerful as the Chaos Emeralds all to myself! Now, I’ll never have to waste my time looking for them again!
Amy: That’s a little convoluted, don’t you think?
Robotnik: Hey, if you can't take 'em, make 'em! Now, prepare to die!
The heroes attempt to attack Robotnik, but nothing they do works. All their attacks bounce off.
Robotnik: It’s no use! I’ve magic proofed this mech, and the Chaos Rings make your attacks useless! There’s nothing you can do to stop me this time!
Robotnik laughs, before a blue streak dashes across the machine, damaging it. Antoine lands in front of the heroes.
Antoine: Them, perhaps. Moi? No.
Sonic: Ant! Oh man, I can’t believe I’m glad to see you!
Antoine: Likewise, Sonic. Now look sharp! Our enemy is not yet ready for defeat!
Robotnik readjusts his mech, before staring at the heroes.
Robotnik: Oh great, another rat to crush. Whatever. I don’t know what that weird blue stuff is, but it won’t be enough to stop me! Let’s do this!

Robotnik attempts to punch the heroes, slide kick into them, and attempt to crush them with the weight of his machine. He is able to land a few hits on them, dragging them across the ground when he does. However, they are able to dodge enough of his attacks, and are eventually able to defeat him. Afterwards, the heroes are lying on the ground exhausted. Suddenly, two massive hands grab the heroes and drag them outside, revealing Robotnik sitting in a flying machine.
Robotnik: Gotcha! That machine you were fighting was a decoy! Now, die!
Robtonik begins to electrocute the heroes, laughing as he does. Sonic begins to focus, causing the emeralds to come out and enter his body, turning him into Super Sonic and making Robotnik let him and Tails go. Tails flies back into the ship, where the Chaos Rings fly out and are also drawn into Super Sonic, turning him into a new form that flashes a rainbow of colors.
Robotnik: Oh, great. Perfect.
Sonic: Let my friends go, Robotnik.
Robotnik: Ugh, fine. I’ll deal with them later.
He chucks Amy and Antoine into the hole Tails flew through.
Robotnik: Alright, Sonic, let’s finish this!
Sonic: Lets.
Sonic turns towards the others and smiles, giving them a salute before flying towards Robotnik.

Robotnik’s machine begins teleporting around the area, firing huge lasers, sending out massive spikes, and surrounding itself with an energy forcefield. Sonic is able to dodge the attacks and hit the robot. Eventually, Sonic is able to defeat the machine, causing it to fall apart, before exploding. After this, Robotnik floats back down to the planet on a parachute.
Robotnik: I hate that hedgehog.
As he does, Sonic dashes back tot he ship and grabs his friends from the ship before it crashes. As they land, the Emeralds and Rings leave Sonic’s body and disappear.
Sonic: You guys OK?
Tails: Yeah, we’re good. Come on, let’s go meet back up with the others.
The heroes run off. Later, we see them along with a freed Gazebo, who hugs his daughter.
Gazebo: Oh, I can’t thank you all enough for saving me from that awful Robotnik, and for keeping my daughter safe!
Sonic: Ah, it was nothing, doc. Just what we do.
Gazebo: Well, I simply must reward you for all that you’ve done!
Sally: Oh no, that’s not-
Gazebo: Oh please, I insist!
He gives Sally a pair of ring like devices. She places one on her wrist, causing a blade to emerge from it.
Gazebo: They’re Ring Blades! They should be able to help you in your fight against Robotnik!
Sally: I… thank you, doctor.
Gazebo: Oh, please, call me Gazebo!
Sonic: Well, I think we should be heading off. Thanks again, doc. Let us know if Robotnik tries anything again.
Tiara: Oh, that won’t be necessary. Because if he does, I’ll defeat him myself!
The heroes share a laugh, before they head back to Knothole. Meanwhile, Robotnik is floating away in his Eggmobile with a broken Metal Sonic, communicating with his assistants.
Robotnik: Well, I think that went rather well, all things considered.
Snively: Well? Sir, the Thunder Turbine was destroyed, our robots are totaled, and the Chaos Rings are gone. That doesn't say ‘well’ to me.
Robotnik: I know, and the loss of so many assets is regrettable. But the main purpose of this mission was the creation of the rings, so any loss we suffered as a result is acceptable.
Snively: Acceptable!? Sir, you can’t be serious-
Robotnik: Oh, shut up, Snively! Stone, do we have any ideas on where the Rings are?
Stone: Yes, doctor.
Robotnik: Good. Send that data to me as soon as I get back.
Robotnik disconnects, and continues flying in silence.
