Work Text:
Keigo hummed quietly as he flew through the air, his eyes flicking over the street below him, with a feather occasionally darting out form his wings to help the people in the street below.
It had been a long day of meetings, and he was eager to return home where he could relax.
A small grumble escaped him as he thought back to the meeting with the rest of the top ten. A meeting that easily could have been an email, but instead it had taken two hours.
"Tch. Two hours I'll never get back." Keigo whined, then he slowed down until he was hovering in the air, wings flapping lazily.
His eyes flicked over the street for a moment. This wasn't the route he normally took home.
He frowned for a moment, then realised where he was, and surprise filled him
He had not been flying home. Instead, as if driven by an instinct to want to spend time with you, he had been flying towards your apartment, which now was only a few minutes away.
A small grin appeared on his face, and he let out a soft chuckle. He had been thinking of you throughout the meetings, and only now did he realise how much he had missed you.
He thought it over for a few moments, before pulling out his phone, and sending you a quick text.
"Hey songbird. You home?"
His eyes flicked back to the street below him, and he sent a few more feathers off to help people, then looked back to his phone as he felt it buzz.
"Yeah I am. Just doing laundry, why?"
Keigos grin widened at your response, and he slowly lowered himself down to the path, before calling you, a feather coming up to hold the phone to his ear as he walked.
It rang for a few seconds as he walked, and he sent a few of his fans a wave, before you finally answered.
"Keigo? Is everything okay?" You asked, a slight worried tone to your voice.
Keigo snickered quietly and rolled his eyes at your response as he walked.
"Yeah I'm good. Just finished work actually. And I was wondering if you'd want a certain red winged hero to join you for dinner if he provides the food?" He offered, his smile softening for a moment before he made his way to one of the resteraunts nearby.
"Oh I suppose. Just give me time to tidy up, alright?" You said with a laugh that made his heart hammer in his chest.
Your laugh was like music to his ears, and if he got to only hear one thing every day for the rest of his life, he would choose your laugh.
"Perfect! I'm going to grab some food for us now, so you have about..." he paused for a moment as he checked his watch, then hummed.
"Maybe 45 minutes?"
He heard a quiet curse from your side of the line, and a small 'thump', and had to restrain a laugh.
"Dammit. Uhh yeah. That'll be enough time... I think. I'll see you soon, okay?" You said, and he heard the sound of you scurryjng around your apartment.
"Yeah. See you soon." He said, then ended the call.
A fond smile appeared on his face as his thoughts turned to you.
You had been dating for over a year now, and Keigo thought you were the best thing that had happened to him.
After all, it wasn't often you met the love of your life by seeing them shouting at a villain for knocking them over and knocking bags of groceries to the ground.
And Keigo had been surprised at how terrified the villain had looked. But, as a hero, he couldn't just leave the poor villain to deal with your wrath.
So he intervened, and once the villain had (thankfully, in the poor villains mind) been taken away by the police, Keigo had helped pick up your dropped groceries, and offered to help you home.
After that, the winged hero had been far too interested in you to leave it at that, and had made it a small habit to visit from time to time to see how you were.
And to his relief, you seemed quite accepting of his visits, and always greeted him with a bright smile.
Keigo shook himself of his thoughts, and placed his order as he reached the counter in the resteraunt, then moved to the side and leaned against the wall as he scrolled through his phone.
He noticed whispers from the patrons of the resteraunt, all in awe at the appearance of the Number Two hero, and he sent them a smile and a wave before his eyes flicked back to his phone, and once again, his thoughts trailed back to you.
He really shouldn't have allowed himself to become so close to you. He knew that. His job wasn't exactly one that made having relationships easy.
But he couldn't help it. Your smile, your laugh, your voice... they were intoxicating, and he couldn't help but be drawn in by them.
And soon enough, he found himself thinking of you more and more. Until he realised his thoughts had begun to trail into the land of not being so innocent.
Keigos cheeks flushed slightly at the memory, and he pulled the collar of his jacket up a little higher to hide the blush.
Now, he found the memory of the panic he felt at the discovery of his feelings amusing. But at the time, he had been terrified. Before you, he had never entertained the idea of a relationship. But there you were, flipping his entire world upside down with just a smile.
It had taken him weeks to figure out how to handle his feelings. At first he had tried to push them away, to pretend they didn't exist.
But you were far too perceptive for your own good, and noticed something different in Keigos attitude almost immediately, despite his attempt to hide it.
Eventually he had admitted how he felt to you, and in his surprise and relief, you felt the same way he did.
Keigo still didn't understand how he had gotten so lucky. Someone as incredible as you, wanting him? Yes he understood he was popular as a hero, and decently attractive. But personality wise? He knew that people could find him annoying.
And his hands weren't exactly clean. He had done a lot of things for the Hero Public Safety Commission to keep the people of Japan safe.
And while he knew he had done what he had to, he was terrified of what would happen when you found out.
Yet when you found out, you had simply held him close and promised that it didn't change your feelings for him. Keigo had been amazed by thay. How forgiving and accepting you were was something that astounded him.
He admitted to the darkest parts of his life, and you accepted it so easily.
He truly felt like the luckiest man in the world, to have found someone so kind and incredible. And he then that he couldn't imagine his life without you.
An adoring smile appeared on his face as he opened the picture folder on his phone, and found an image of the two of you together, both laughing, with you hugging him from behind.
Just being around you had made his life better, and to be able to call you his? It felt like something out of a dream.
Although Keigo did worry that one day Endeavor was going to roast him, or Best Jeanist was going to tie him up with the threads of Keigos own clothes if he kept showing them pictures of you and kept boasting about you and your achievements.
But thankfully, so far the two heros had simply listened to Keigo with an amused sort of annoyance.
So Keigo continued boasting about you to his colleagues. And slowly but surely, he had found himself falling more and more in love with you.
He had been terrified of the danger your relationship would put you in. As a hero, he had many enemies, and he had explained that danger to you early on in your relationship.
But you hadn't been scared away. Instead, you had taken that in your stride. Although for now, the relationship was still private. One only a few of his colleagues, and the closest members of your friends and family knew of.
Keigo knew that one day, he'd need to properly introduce you to the public as his partner. But for now, he was happy to keep your relationship private.
The relationship you shared gave him sense of normality that he had never experienced before. And he wanted to protect that normality for as long as he could.
Keigo jumped as he heard the resteraunt owner call out his order, then sent the man a smile as he took the bag, and began leaving the building.
His wings spread out, and with a few flaps, he had taken off, and began the short flight to your apartment.
--
A few minutes later, and Keigo carefully landed on your balcony, his wings twitching for a moment before he tucked them behind his back, and he gently knocked on the glass of the balcony door.
He snickerd heard as he heard a small yelp from inside, then warched as you came into the living room, looking slightly out of breath from tidying up as you opened the door.
"Hey Keigo. Sorry, I've been tidying up." You began, only for him to cut you off as he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips.
Warmth spread through him as he kissed you. Having you so close made his heart hammer in his chest.
'I really am the luckiest guy in the world', he thought, then finally broke the kiss, smirkign slightly at the slight dazed look in your eyes.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. You know I don't mind if your place is a bit messy." He said as he pulled back a little, then joined you inside and slipped off his shoes.
His eyes flicked over your apartment, and a relaxed smile appeared on his face.
It was as if all the tension in his body disappeared as soon as he set foot in your apartment.
This was the one place he could be himself. The one place the hero Hawks could disappear, and the man Keigo could just relax.
"How was work?" You asked as you took the food bag from him then began making your way towards the kitchen.
He watched you for a moment, and a soft hum escaped him. Just watching you, so at ease and relaxed, made his heart skip a beat.
He loved just watching you. Whether you were doing laundry, or cooking, part of him found it relaxing.
Although he wings often puffed up and a huffy look always appeared om his face when you compared him to a pigeon that was entranced by food.
He began to follow you to the kitchen, and a few feathers darted from his wings and flew ahead to get the plates from the cupboard.
"Oh not too bad. Although most meetings could have been emails." He said with a laugh as he joined you, his arm wrapping around your waist.
A smile appeared on your face, and Keigo felt his heart skip a beat at the sight.
"Well, I'm sure you can tell me all about it over dinner. And if you want to stay over... there are a couple of new movies I managed to get that we can watch?" You offered, a twinkle in your eyes that told him his wings were once again going to be used as your personal blanket.
"Sounds like a plan, songbird. Now, lets get this food served up. I'm starving." Keigo said with a laugh, eager to spend the night with you.
Your apartment was somewhere he found it easy to relax. Somewhere away from the press and his fans. Despite how much he loved interacting with his fans, he liked his private time with you more.
It was rare he had an entire evening off to spend with you. And he couldn't help how happy the though of simply laying with you on the couch, with you safely tucked within his wings made him.
Perhaps one day, he'd have more time that he could spend with you like this. Where he didn't get called away for missions or have to work most hours of the day.
But for now... he could take what moments he could and treasure each and every one of them.
