Work Text:
William lugs his suitcase up the front steps of the dorm muttering and cursing the whole time. Was this the ‘american dream’ everyone loved? He thought
“Bloody-fuckin’ stairs…”
He swore, finally getting the bag’s wheel up and resting it near the boxes. William fumbled in his messenger bag for the key to the door. Once he got what he wanted, he fixed his purple button-up’s collar and opened the door to the dorm. The house wasn’t in the best condition but it was mostly his, and the school’s, property. The familiar smell of smoke and alcohol was there, but it wasn’t new; just a memory of young college students from before. As he walked farther into the living space he saw a scrawny red-head presumably passed out on the couch, sitting next-to robotic parts and random scraps of metal.
William stepped forward and his foot landed on a squeaky board. Damit . The other man shot up, looking panicked and worried.
“Huh!? Who- oh, I guess you’re my roommate?” The red-head thought out-loud.
William sighed, “Yeah,” he studied the scrawny man, taking in every detail.
“I can help you unpack-if that’s okay,” The ginger rambled
William nodded

A few hours had passed, the other man helped William unpack and get set up. They talked, not really about anything, but just talked. It was comforting in some way William couldn’t place. The man had asked him a lot of questions about the UK and it was kind of...endearing? Then Will learned his name, Henry, god, that made him feel weird, this man made him feel insane, Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry ,Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry, Henry Henry Henry ,Henry Henry. What force had let William meet him ?
William was exhausted from the near ten hour flight from the UK to Uthah and had stepped out for a smoke. Henry had joined him.
“You need to bum one, or do you have your own?” William questioned.
Henry looked at him sharing the exhausted expression, “I’m alright,”
William leaned over to light the other man’s cigarette, and then his own. They watched the sun go down, together, the sheer vitality of it all.
Nothing would ever be the same , but that would be alright, as long as they had each other.
