Chapter Text

"Mom, we are not giving her this."

"What's wrong now?" Cassandra said exasperatedly. After Caitlyn rejected quite a few of the family's old toys (heirlooms at this point) that Cassandra wanted to give to the new baby Lavender, she was a little bit annoyed.

"This is literally made of gold," and indeed, between Caitlyn's fingers was a baby rattle in gold with beautiful craftsmanship.

"It's so excessive!"

On the side, Tobias watched the two women argue and kept quiet, preferring to sit this one out. Lavender, safely tucked in her grandfather's arms, heard the rattle's soft tinkling and reached for it happily.

"That was your favorite when you were a baby."

"Oh, you could give me a bottle with some marbles in it and I would've been happy!"

Cassandra threw her arms up, "UGH! Tobias, please talk to your daughter." She quickly made her way to him, gently scooping Lavender into her arms and cooed at the baby.

"In the meantime, I'll take our dear Lavender to see if her Mama has finished building the swing."
