Work Text:

It was the little things in life that gave Leona a little thrill, nowadays.

Like playing chess against a truly difficult opponent, though those were getting increasingly difficult to find.

Or such as provoking his fellow Housewardens at meetings to see their responses.

Riddle always turned a shade of red so dark it almost made Leona concerned for him, but it was amusing to hear his little self-righteous speeches about the rules.

Queenie was a little- or a lot- less fun to deal with, with how much he reminded him of the stuffy advisors back home, but Leona had never claimed to have much self-preservation.

He liked poking the hornet's nest, sue him.

What was the queen bee going to do to him anyway?

He was a member of the Sunset Savanna royalty, after all. Even if he didn't act like it.

Messing with the Octopunk was a lot easier than one would expect, what with his composed business man persona.

Heh. People thought that he was impossible to read.

His mask was much too easy to see through for Leona.

Then again, he had been called a genius before.

His reactions were the most amusing to witness- seeing him fumble slightly for his answer was extremely satisfying in a way that fed the petty and vindictive part of him.

The moments when the Octopunk actually sputtered were the best, but he would take the brief pauses for what they were.

Now, messing with Radish Sprout was easy.

Far too easy to be too amusing, if the reactions weren't as top tier as they were.

Now, he had the opposite of a soft spot for the Lizard.

Why would his plan be so intricate and carefully detailed if he didn't?

He had spent years second place, always beneath Farena no matter how hard he tried.

And then when he came to NRC, then he could finally be first in something for once.

He could finally be the champion of something for once.

The Lizard stole that from him.

He would get his revenge someday.

And maybe that would give him a larger thrill than the tiny ones he got from messing with the other Housewardens.

Easily provoked, hilarious freak-outs, even if he could only hear them, Radish Sprout was his favorite among the rag-tag little council that they formed.

However, he could admit that he did have a soft spot for Kalim.

After all, he had forbidden his dorm members from attacking the other boy.

That was mostly self-preservation, because if a member of his dorm  was stupid enough to attack the heir of the Asim family, the blame would partially land on him, but he could admit to himself, in the safety of his thoughts, that it had been a little bit motivated by the fact that he liked Kalim somewhat, even if he was too loud.

Now, he had the opposite of a soft spot for the Lizard.

Why would his plan for the Tournament be so intricate and well-planned out, if he didn't?

For years, he had always been second place, always beneath Farena despite his best efforts.

Then, he came to NRC and was first for once.

The Lizard stole that away from him.

Someday, Leona would get his revenge on the said Lizard, for stealing his one chance to be number one.

Maybe that would give him a larger thrill than merely messing with his fellow Housewardens did.
