Shooting Stars Fly

Summary:

you and N go for a fly.

Work Text:

"Have you ever wondered what stars are made of?"

N tilted his head towards me curiously, a small smile on his face as he snapped back into reality.

"Well, up close, they look like bright glowing spheres. I once almost crashed into one while flying, haha!" N scratched the back of his head, chuckling. His tail wagged a little behind him.

I looked up at the stars, my feet dangling over the edge of the building. The concrete surface I was sitting on was frozen, a smooth touch as my metal fingers glided across it.

"You know..." I looked over at N, smiling, "humans apparently see stars differently."

I swung my legs over the concrete, sitting in a criss-cross position. Facing N, I said, "Here, give me your hand."

"O-oh!" N said in surprise, obediently holding out his hand.

I took his hand with one of mine, facing his palm up. Then, I brought my other hand above his hand, and extended my pointer finger.

"They draw them with five points." I gently began drawing a line on his hand, starting from the bottom of his palm towards his wrist.

"To humans, the light that stars emit look like points." I smiled, slowly and gently tracing out a star. I drew an upside-down V on his palm, and continued back up his hand to draw more spikes.

"Every human saw it differently, so eventually they just used the most common denominator, which was five points." I could feel my tail wagging as I rambled on, finishing the star. I tapped my finger on each of the five points of the imaginary star I drew.

"It's kind of interesting that it was the same thing, but everybody saw it differently. Humans are so complex." I admired my star drawing on his hand.

Suddenly, I snapped out of my trance. "Sorry, I'm rambling." I blushed nervously. I let go of his hand and glanced up at him to see him blushing.

"Oh, no, it's okay! I get what you mean. I mean, I only knew three humans, but they were all so different from each other." N smiled. He sat criss-crossed facing me now, his tail ever so slightly wagging behind him.

"Do you ever wonder what it's like to be human?" I asked with a small smile. I looked down at my robotic fingers, moving and fidgeting with them.

N reached out with his own hands and grabbed mine, cutting my fidgeting abruptly. He smiled, "Well, I think humans are interesting, but being a robot isn't so bad either."

"How so?" I asked.

He stood up, pulling me up with him.

"For one, we get to do this!" N smiled evilly, extending his wings. I widened my eyes, bracing myself as he crouched down slightly. He tightened his grip on my hand and shot up in the air.

Panicking, I extended my wings as well, speeding up to match his pace.

However, without a warning, he stopped gaining momentum and started free-falling back down.

He began chuckling as he saw my panicked expression, grabbing my hand tight.

"Relax, I got you." N smiled reassuringly at me, pulling me closer to him.

I stared at his calm expression, and took a deep breath.

Then, I put my wings away.

"I sure hope you know what you're doing."
