“Woah… there’s a whole bunch of stuff!”
Edgar Allan Poe marveled at the toy store before the both of you, his gaze hidden beneath his thick bangs as usual. The two of you were up to doing some self-care in the form of shopping for new ‘friends’ in the form of dolls and toys. Poe had been adamant about joining you – he had been in the market for new comfort items.
The two of you began to walk around the expansive store, eyeing all of the merchandise. You see action figures and Barbie dolls beside each other in one aisle and whole playsets in the next. It’s like a treasure trove to the both of you!
“OOOH!” Poe excitedly yelps, startling you as he darts forward. “Over here’s where the stuffies are!”
It had been quite some time since you’d seen him so animated and excited, you couldn’t help but share the sentiment as you hurried to catch up. Poe focused in on a blanket nearby and a little green frog as well.
“Look at him!” He exclaimed as he shoved them toward you. “Isn’t he so cute?”
This confirmed it – Poe was comfortable enough to slip.
“I’m looking for something that’ll make storms easier to handle…” Poe hummed a little as he clutched the two items, scanning the rest of the shelves. “I think he needs a friend… or two. I think I’m gonna name him Hopper.”
Poe continues to clutch Hopper tightly, using his index finger to pet the downy plush.
“Y’know… now that I think about it…” He muses, continuing the soothing, repetitive action. “I think I just want to feel protected.”
He goes rigid before reaching out, cradling Hopper and the small cloth blanket, and he grabs two candy-inspired bears from the back. One is yellow, reminiscent of lemons, and the other is blue with a blueberry pattern on its belly.
“Maybe this’ll help us feel more safe…”
Poe hummed at the pair before handing the lemon one over to you.
“Here, I’ll take this one and you can take that one.” Poe smiled and gave your bear a high-five. “They’re twins! What’dya wanna name them?”
