Work Text:
It's October 30th.
Mitsuya wouldn't expect anyone to knock on the door anytime soon, considering it wasn't the weekend, and it was very unlikely to have guests coming over unprompted at this very hour.
He wouldn't even be at home if it wasn't for this very special occasion. Neither would Draken.
So who could have possibly stood behind the door?
Draken's head popped from the kitchen's doorway, and the same curiosity colored his face. Mitsuya shrugged, having zero idea who could visit their house.
When he opened the door, Mitsuya didn't expect someone to walk right towards him and grab his pants.
An excited but intangible babble greeted him.
"She was so psyched to meet you, Mitsuya."
A familiar voice chuckled.
Mitsuya blinked.
Another happy babble chimed in again as if it confirmed the previous statement. When Mitsuya felt a gentle tug over his jeans, he lowered himself to greet the guests properly, this little one in particular.
"Hello to you too, Aira-chan."
To be fair, it had been a while since Yumi and Pah came to this town.
The last time they were here was around March or April when they had to visit Pah's parents. They didn't even have much time to stroll around the city or meet up with their friends at that time.
Now, when they finally had some free time and opportunity, they wanted to make it count. Except, they forgot that everyone had their lives too and it would be quite hard to synchronize the visitation during weekdays.
Yumi and Pah planned to stay for a week, at least, but they couldn't wait to meet people.
And by people, of course, it meant Pah's old gang friends.
"I thought you two were in Greece? I distinctly remembered seeing your Instagram post a couple weeks ago," Mitsuya asked.
Pah's first destination, of course, was Peh-yan, but since it was weekday, nobody was home at Hayashi's household. Pah was adamant to surprise his friend, so he purposefully didn't give any notice before his visitation.
Coming to Draken and Mitsuya's house was like destiny because they both happened to be home.
"Oh, that's so three weeks ago," Yumi leaned on the bench. Mitsuya had proposed the idea of them going out to the city park to get some air. "We've been to Morocco and Portugal too. I had a chance to work on some reports about their cultural festivals there."
Mitsuya smiled. "Sounds fun."
"It's fun if you don't gotta deal with stubborn businessmen," Pah huffed. Yumi elbowed him. "What? That's true. You know, I suffered the worst case of migraine the whole time we were there."
Yumi rolled her eyes. "He's being overdramatic."
Pah retaliated by telling them a long story about people who spoke with heavy accents and complained he couldn't understand Pah's English like Pah didn't struggle to speak with them. Yumi interrupted here and there, adding to the stories. Of course, Mitsuya listened attentively, like he was with them to experience the same.
Pah was in the middle of badmouthing someone who didn't get their business deal through, when Yumi chose to have it enough.
"Hey, we're not here to complain! We're here to socialize," Yumi clapped her hands. "Tell me about your boutique, Mitsuya! Have you opened that kid's fashion line yet? Aira loved every dress you gifted to her. I've been showing them off to my friends too, and they're so jealous that they weren't sold anywhere. Aira is so lucky!"
At the mention of the name, Mitsuya turned his head to search for the little girl who apparently had the time of her life, being the little model for Draken. Yumi followed his gaze and found that Draken and Aira had been getting along so well, despite them not seeing each other enough to be that close. Aira played with the flowers, marveling at the birds, while Draken captured her through his lens.
Though, in Yumi's opinion, Draken seemed to enjoy interacting with Aira more than taking her pictures.
Aira and Draken kept babbling back and forth like they could understand each other.
"It's specially made for your little princess," Mitsuya smiled, witnessing the view. "But I do keep it in my mind, Yumi. Until then, please prepare Aira-chan to be spoiled rotten by her uncles."
"No doubt on that, she's already charmed by Draken," Yumi laughed. Draken turned his head at her voice, waving his hand as he returned the gesture. "What is it, with him and the camera?"
"Ken always loved taking pictures since he was young." Yumi could hear the unmistakable pride in Mitsuya's voice. "He's obsessed with taking pictures of Kenta in costume, lately."
"Your cat?"
Mitsuya nodded, pulling out his phone as he grinned mischievously. "Wanna see how excited he is?"
Yumi and Pah ended up sharing a good laugh with Mitsuya, over tons of photos on his phone.
Draken looked like a real cat dad.
It seemed that he was too preoccupied to direct Kenta for his photoshoot to notice Mitsuya was secretly taking pictures. He was really serious when he tried to concentrate on his project. In several pictures, there was also the cameo of Baji and Chifuyu, but even through the pictures, they didn't match Draken's level of enthusiasm.
"Gossiping about me, huh?"
Draken appeared in front of them with Aira in his arms. He posed a sad face right when Aira looked up at him.
"Look at that, Aira-chan, they're talking about me behind my back."
Aira reached for his face and patted his cheek, babbling, as if she was trying to comfort him.
"I know, I can only trust you."
Yumi was about to rise and take her over, but Mitsuya preceded her.
It was amazing how Aira trusted the two so easily, like there was no hassle at all when Mitsuya transferred Aira to his arms instead.
"I just showed them your photography talent, Ken."
Draken groaned.
"I expect your short session with my girl to be bombastic," Pah said.
"It's because Aira looked super cute in this dress, Pah," Yumi added. "It's all thanks to Mitsuya." She turned to Draken. "Tell him, he would make a fortune by creating a kids fashion brand, Draken."
"Oh, I did," Draken grinned. "You'll be the first model for that, Aira-chan. Right, Taka?"
"Absolutely," Mitsuya laughed. Aira jolted in his arms, wheezing as if she was influenced by the laugh. Draken ended up laughing too and the happiness that radiated from the three of them was so endearing that Yumi kinda wished she and Pah didn't have to constantly travel for their business.
Based on the sneaky glance that Pah directed at her, she could tell, her husband was thinking the same.
Yumi and Pah stayed right until before the lunch. They had to bounce for some business appointment, but they made a promise to meet each other again soon.
In such a short period of time, Aira had been so attached to both Draken and Mitsuya, that she actually cried when she had to bid them goodbye.
Mitsuya cheered her up by giving away one of the plushies he originally planned for his sisters, telling Yumi that he could always make another.
Aira was so happy with the gift, that she stopped crying immediately and focused on the bunny in purple dress, instead.
"Sorry to bother you on your day off," Yumi whispered when Mitsuya hugged her in the doorway.
Mitsuya tsked her. "Nonsense, Yumi. We're enjoying today very much. I'm very happy to spend the day with the three of you."
Pah had to say something similar when he hugged Draken, because Draken knocked his head playfully as he snorted. "What are we, Pah? Strangers? It's been a great day, so shush."
"Shush!" Aira parroted, hugging the bunny doll. "Shush! Shush!"
"Exactly, Aira-chan," Draken offered his fist and Aira bumped it with hers. "Tell your Daddy that."
It's October 30th.
Mitsuya wouldn't expect anyone to knock on the door anytime soon, considering it wasn't the weekend and it was very unlikely to have guests coming over unprompted at such random times.
He didn't regret it though, and based on the way Draken constantly talked about Aira, he knew neither did Draken.
It might be their the third anniversary of their marriage, but really, it was just another day for Draken and Mitsuya as long as they were together.
This time, they didn't celebrate the day luxuriously, opting to stay at home (Kenta was very happy with this), curling up, watching movie (with the guaranteed occasional makeouts in between), ordering their favorite meals (Draken didn't want Mitsuya to exhaust himself), and just generally being in close proximity with each other (like they had all the time in the world).
Nothing can top the intimacy of spending your anniversary that way. No matter how mundane that is.
He and Draken had kept the phones away after the Hayashida left, and decided that it was never too late to start enjoying the day for themselves.
Though they couldn't say, they hadn't enjoyed the day so far, considering that Hayashida's surprise visit was such a delight to add to the day, despite being unprompted and unexpected.
It wasn't until later at night, when Mitsuya eventually checked his phone, that Yumi apparently had bombarded him with texts.
OH MY GOD, MITSUYA
I'M SO SORRY
WE AREN'T AWARE TODAY IS YOUR ANNIVERSARY
I'm very sorry to disturb your day off like that (╥﹏╥)
Mikey let it slip that it's so kind of you two to choose to spend the time together with us despite the special occasion (╥﹏╥)
Haha, it's alright, Yumi
Ken and I are enjoying today!
Don't worry about it!
Still!
We feel so bad (╥﹏╥)
I don't usually agree with Pah on this, but I think it's only fair if we pay you back
Yumi, that is absolutely NOT needed
Too late, we're gonna book you a trip to this one Onsen that me and Pah loved the last time we were there ♡
Please don't refuse!!
Aira would be sad if her uncles didn't have the best time of their lives on their anniversary! :(

"I take it, Yumi also used Aira-chan to seduce you to accept the Onsen trip," Draken placed his chin on Mitsuya's shoulder, peering into his phone. "Pah sent the same thing to me."
Mitsuya turned his head slightly, smiling at Aira who babbled intangibly on the screen, while Yumi faux-translated her words in the background.
"Are you convinced?"
Draken pretended to think. "I mean, Aira-chan is pretty convincing. I would say she made a pretty valid argument as to why we should accept their gracious offer, Taka."
Mitsuya nodded, typing his answer.
Aira-chan made a good point :)
Thank you, Yumi
Pass my regards to Pah as well
Will do~
Enjoy the rest of the day and the trip! ♡♡
Happy anniversary you two ♡♡
"Ken?"
"Hm?"
"I've been thinking, that maybe I shouldn't have to be so quick to dismiss the idea of, um, you know, kids."
"It's not so quick if you have thought about it for quite some time, Taka. It's completely understandable."
"I know. It's just, watching you and Aira-chan today might just give me another insight. A new perspective."
"You're saying—?"
"Ken, I think I'm not as opposed to the idea as I thought I was."
"Oh, Takashi."
"I mean, I'm still pretty scared and hella anxious about the whole thing, but I think, as long as I am with you, it'll be less unbearable, you know?"
"You know, you don't have to change your mind so soon, right?"
"Yeah."
"And it doesn't matter to me whether you change your mind or not, I'm still gonna be with you, whatever you decide at the end."
"Can't ask for more, Ken."
"Then, take your time, Taka. One interaction might influence you, but it doesn't have to alter your stance completely. It's a very serious and important life decision, you're bound to be scared and nervous about it. And if you're not ready then, it's okay too."
"Can't you stop being an amazing husband for one second?"
"Nope, it's my package deal, comes with this super handsome face and hot body."
"You're ridiculous."
"I thought, I'm your husband?"
"Ridiculous husband, that is."
"Hey, I'm serious, though. Take your time to think about it, you don't have to change your mind overnight. You know, I'll be with you whatever your decision is, and whenever you're ready to change, or not, I'll still be here."
"I know."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Ken?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I know—ouch, that hurts."
"Hmph."
"I love you too, Takashi. So much. Happy anniversary, here's to many more years to come?"
"Here's to many more years to come."
"Now what's that about me being an amazing husband? Does it mean, I get a reward or something—"
"Oh, you do, Ken. You'll get your reward alright, if you can behave."
"Yes, Sir."
