"Hey Can I Borrow Your Quirk!?"
Izuku.exe stopped responding.
The greenette stared at Uraraka like she'd just spontaneously transformed into a fish in front of him. Meanwhile her eyes twinkled with hope and excitement as her seemingly star shaped pupils bore into him.
He couldn't have possibly heard her correctly, could he? Izuku had finally opened up and told someone his biggest secret. Sure he'd expected her to ask a ton of questions, maye even be angry and resentful for hiding this from her and his prior quirklessness.
Though deep down he knew Uraraka would never react badly to him telling her, she'd never judge him or hate him for being quirkless. She was better than that.
She was perfect.
Nothing could have prepared Izuku for the first question to pop out of
his crush's
best friend's mouth. He had to make sure he'd heard right.
"S-sorry Uraraka W..what did you ask again?" he asked her sheepishly.
Uraraka clasped her hands together as she almost teleported into Izuku's personal space and pleaded with him "Can I borrow One For All!? Please Deku! I'll take good care of it! I only need it for like a day!"
So close! Izuku blue screened once again. She's asking me for my quirk as if she was asking Koda if she could babysit his rabbit for the day!
Izuku looked like a human strawberry with how much he was blushing over how close Uraraka was to him.
Unfortunately or fortunately for the Green Tea duo, Ochaco's brain had turned to mochi, and she had no idea how close to Izuku she currently was nor the effect this closeness and her question was having on him.
How do I respond here? Izuku thought to himself. This is Uraraka, she must have a good reason to ask him something like this. But it'll be dangerous! All Might warned me about the repercussions when he first started training me as a vessel. I don't want Uraraka's limbs to blow off! I like her limbs!
"U-Uraraka it'd be really dangerous for me to give it to you. One For All has been storing power since the dawn of quirks! And that strength only increases with each user! You've seen what happened to me when I first started using All Might’s Quirk, and that was after I trained for MONTHS to get to that point!"
"It's worth the risk," Ochaco immediately responded.
"EH!? Izuku exclaimed. There was no hesitation whatsoever in Uraraka's voice despite the danger. Whatever reason Uraraka has for needing my Quirk must be incredibly important. I have to help her however I can! What kind of hero would I be if I can't even help my crush best friend out?
Izuku smiled at his cherished friend. "Ok. If it's so important I'll lend you One For All. Bu-"
Izuku didn't get the chance to finish his sentence before Uraraka pounced on him and wrapped him in the tightest hug of his life.
"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! YOU'RE THE BEST DEKU! THANK YOU SO MUCH!" She shouted in excitement, too elated to realize she was hugging her own crush.
Strawbeku was back blushing harder than before with no idea what to do. He'd never been hugged by anyone before! Except his Mother, Uncle Masaru and Aunt Mitsuki.
Before Izuku could stammer out a reply the hug unfortunately ended and he watched Uraraka fist bump the air.
"With our combined powers there's no way I'm losing the Mochi pounding contest!"
As Uraraka made her declaration of victory her eyes burned with a passion that he hadn't seen since Aizawa-Sensei told the class that the sports festival was coming up.
Wait... Mochi pounding contest? Izuku looked like he was staring at the fish again as he tilted his head in confusion and managed to utter the words "Mochi...?"
"Yeah!" Uraraka exclaimed as she nodded rapidly. "Every year UA does this HUGE Mochi pounding contest! And the winner gets a year's supply of mochi!"
"Her explanation was interrupted by her seemingly imagining exactly how much mochi would be, she pressed a finger to her mouth as she started to drool. Her pupils started to look like glowing orbs of chocolate mochi as she was locked in her own fantasies.
"U-um Uraraka..?" Izuku asked her hesitantly, almost not wanting to take her out of what looked to be some really happy thoughts.
Uraraka rapidly shakes her head and wipes the drool from her mouth as her permanent blush darkened.
"O-oh sorry Deku. Where was I..? Oh right! So for the contest the mallet they use is HUGE!" she exclaimed, outstretching her arms wide to make her point"
"It weighs AT LEAST as much as a couple of those zero pointers, even with my Quirk there's no way I could cancel the weight of the mallet on my own!" She said while pouting, her expression quickly changing to one of excitement as she continued speaking
"But if I borrow your Quirk I just know we'll be able to do it! And all that sweet mochi will be mine!"
Izuku couldn't help but burst out laughing, it was as if Ms Joke had hit him with her Quirk. He'd never laughed so much before.
Uraraka pouted, looking like an angry Kirby as she did so." H-hey! What's so funny Deku!?"
Izuku tried to contain his laughter "S-sorry Uraraka it's just...You want me to lend you a 2 century old quirk that has been passed down for generations in order to defeat All For One...to win a year's supply of mochi?

Ochaco's blush darkened once more as it dawned on her what she'd just asked Izuku.
He'd just told her his biggest secret, something that he'd clearly been anxious about telling anyone based on how nervous he'd looked when he approached her.
And what's her first reaction when finding out that her
crush
best friend is some kind of chosen one destined to battle a great evil with his all powerful Quirk that's been passed on for generations for that very purpose?
She asks to borrow it so she can win a fucking mochi pounding contest!?!? Feh fucks sake Ochaco! Why'dja gotta make such a fool of yerself!
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Deku! You're right! That was so stupid and selfish of me to ask you that! Please forget that I asked! And don't worry I promise I won't tell your secret to anyone!" Ochaco blurted out before she'd started floating towards the sky in embarrassment.
Izuku reached out to her before she could float away and gently guided the even more embarrassed gravity manipulator back to earth.
"It's fine honestly." He chuckled and smiled at her as brightly as the sun that she almost flew towards in her embarrassment.
"I just thought it was very Uraraka of you to get so passionate about mochi like that and besides..."
He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck as he continued talking, every word he spoke seemed to calm her and ease her embarrassment.
"I've never really had anyone to talk about all this stuff before...I can talk to All Might and Gran Torino but..I haven't confided in anyone about One For All. Not even my mom knows"
He'd been looking around at the floor or towards the sky anywhere but directly at her during his explanation, but then his beautiful eyes met hers as he continued to speak.
"But you're my first real friend... And honestly...It's kind of a relief just talking to you about it and being able to use One For All for something so silly. I've been thinking about one for all as this sacred power to look up to instead of something that's a part of me now. So I think doing something like this will help me, especially if doing so makes you happy to".
Deku beamed at her as he finished explaining, making her heart skip 9 times faster than usual.
Ochaco was completely flustered. Partially because of her embarrassment over her completely ridiculous request but also because of how amazingly kind the adorable freckled boy could be.
She smiled back at him, hoping he didn't notice the wetness in her eyes. "Thanks Deku. You're really sweet. I promise I won't let you down! Whenever you need someone to talk to about your Quirk or being All Mights successor then I'll be there!
Deku blushed at the compliment and his smile seemed to shine even brighter "I should be thanking you Uraraka for letting me open up to you like this, besides you might not think I'm so sweet after we finish your training to hold one for all."
Ochaco's smile wavered for a moment when thinking about the training that Deku had told her that he had to do to hold the quirk before a look of determination quickly took over.
" I'll be in your care Deku-Sensei!"

*1 Training montage later*
December 12th 23XX
The Green Tea duo had put themselves through hell these past few months, thanks to all the extra muscle training Izuku had gone from being able to use 5% constantly to a whopping 30%!
Ochaco had made a lot of gains herself, she could use her Quirk on anything up to 12 tons without feeling sick, and her body had been molded into a proper vessel to hold One For All.
The pair sat beside each other taking a moment to relax and have a break before they continued their daily routine.
"What do you think Deku?" Ochaco grinned while flexing her arms showing off her new muscles"
Beautiful... Was Izuku's instant internal reply before he rapidly shook that thought out of his head, he'd hoped Uraraka hadn't noticed his blush that'd give his thoughts of how pretty she is away.
He stands up looking away from her, Ochaco putting her arm down and tilting her head in confusion.
"You know they say...there's a difference between being born with a silver spoon and working your butt off to earn it!" The voice of All Might booms as Ochaco looks around trying to see where All Might was while wondering when he got here.
While she's distracted Izuku plucks a green hair from his head as the voice continues "Take this heart Young Uraraka! You've earned this power fair and square!"
Wondering if All Might had suddenly developed Torus Quirk or something, a puzzled Ochaco turns to face Izuku...
Only as Izuku turns to face her Ochaco's not looking at the cute verdette that she's fallen in love with, she sees the same fluffy mess of green hair but..
All Mights face grins down at her, holding a strand of green hair in front of her. "Eat this" All Might's voice booms from Izuku, him perfectly managing to mimic his mentor's voice and expression.
"Pffffft!" Uraraka couldn't contain her laughter as she fell back holding her tummy. "How are you doing that!? I thought All Might was actually here!
Izuku kept up his All Might persona as he continued to grin at Uraraka as she rolled around laughing "But I AM HERE!"
"Stop! I can't breathe!" Uraraka was in tears with how much she was laughing at the greenette.
"Sorry, sorry! I couldn't resist" Izuku chuckled as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. “I thought I'd rehash All Might’s speech to me before he gave me his quirk.”
Uraraka's eyes widened as she shot up in front of Izuku "I'm finally ready!? Are you sure it's ok!? I know I asked but it feels pretty silly".
Izuku's strawberry appearance was back in full force because of Uraraka's sudden proximity "Y-yeah I already said it's fine! I wanna help you out! Besides" Izuku flexes both of his arms and grins with a pure and wholesome smile.
"You've already helped me a bunch by training together! I don't think I would have gotten anywhere near this level by now if we hadn't been motivating each other these past few months!"
It was Uraraka's turn to go red faced noticing how Izuku's muscles had developed these past few months, though she awkwardly returned the smile glad that her antics had inadvertently helped Deku out.
"I-I'm glad...but what was that you said about eating that?" Desperate to change the subject so he wouldn't notice her staring at Dekus physique, she points at the hair he's holding.
"W-well One For All transfers through DNA so when I got the quirk All Might made me eat a strand of his hair" He said as he shivered remembering How gross It tasted.
Uraraka chuckled imagining how Deku would have reacted when All Might first gave him his quirk before promptly eating the hair and downing it with some water.
"So what now?" She asked a stunned Deku, wondering how easily she did that.
Izuku stared in awe for a moment before responding "R-right... Now we wait for the quirk to assimilate into your body and then we can start getting you adjusted to the power!"

December 31st 23XX
The year was coming to a close as UA's annual mochi pounding contest was set to begin!
Security had been ramped up thanks to all the villain attacks the class had suffered this past year, but today was a day they could put it all behind them for some friendly completion and new years celebrations!
Well...mostly friendly completion. Ochaco was not letting ANYONE near her prized supply of mochi
She was surrounded with a fierce aura of determination, which caused several people to back away as Uraraka had somehow melted the snow in her surrounding area.
She turned round to Deku, flames burning in her eyes as she pumped herself up for victory.
"Deku!"
He let out a sheepish squeal as Uraraka was pretty intimidating right now, he was just glad that there wasn't any combat involved or Recovery Girl would have her work cut out for her.
"U-um yeah Uraraka?" Deku quietly uttered.
"We're gonna win this!" She loudly declared, pumping her fist into the air.
He smiled at her antics thinking about how hard Uraraka had worked these past few months in preparation for this day.
After spending months getting her ready to use One For All she'd spent the last couple weeks getting adjusted to her borrowed power.
And boy was she a force to be reckoned with.
With a few weeks training she'd already mastered Astral Veil-That's what she'd decided to call her own spin on full scowling, at a comfortable 12%!,
Not only that but her new Quirk reacted to her in a way that neither of them expected.
Zero gravity had evolved into gravity control! Besides nullifying gravity Uraraka was able to increase and decrease gravity however she pleased!
When they both found out about her new power Deku's eyes shone like her favorite stars as he furiously jotted down all the new possibilities this meant for her Quirk.
The pair had managed to hide the transfer from the rest of the class. Uraraka had held off from using her new strength in front of the class and she didn't risk showing off gravity control just yet either. After all, they'd question why she couldn't use her new power anymore if she wasn't able to use it after giving Deku back his quirk.
Even All Might was none the wiser that his successor had passed on his quirk, he knew Uraraka had learned about the secrets of One For All but he wasn't aware of this little stunt...until Uraraka took the stage that is.
Every year prior the former #1 had been the one to raise the mallet and pound the Mochi to wring in the new year.
However after the Symbol's retirement no one expected anyone to succeed, despite many attempts for fun as well as a delusional Bakugou attempting thinking he'd be the one to win it.
Once the bomberainian grumbled away to his seat it was Ochaco's turn to step on to the stage.
She got ready to wrap her right hand around the mallet as she breathed deeply in and out, focusing completely on the goal in front of her.
Astral Veil 16%! Her bones ached as she went beyond her usual limit. Pink lightning danced around her as a cold wave of air erupted from her surge in strength and blew into the crowd.
"Y-young Uraraka!?" All Might blurted out some blood in surprise, recognising the power he once held.
Bakugou looked enraged as he couldn't believe what he was looking at Damn Deku! What the fuck is he trying to pull!?
Deku looked on at Uraraka in awe, he'd trained with her constantly these past few weeks but he was always left mesmerized when she used her astral veil.
The sound of Nezu cackling was heard amongst the crowd realizing what 2 of his students had done.
All 5 of her fingers touched the mallet as she took hold of the giant weapon. A familiar pink glow enveloped if before she effortlessly raised it into the air.
Almost every mouth in the crowd was left agape seeing how easily the teenager was lifting the mallet.
"CHICXURAVITY SMASH!" Uraraka yelled as she swung the mallet down, overriding its weightlessness by increasing its gravity as it struck the Mochi and shattered the ground around her.
The crowd went silent. Even Deku was left speechless at the raw display of power Uraraka had shown.
Present Mic who as always was providing the commentary for the event was the one to break the silence "W-WE HAVE A WINNER FOLKS! THIS YEAR CROWNS A NEW MOCHI MONARCH AS OCHACO URARAKA FROM CLASS 1-A TAKES THE CROWN!"
The previously silent audience erupted into cheers, celebrating the first time a student has managed to win the competition since All Might was still at UA.
"I DID IT! I WON!" Uraraka cheered and let go of her mallet as she jumped up and down in joy.
She turned her head to see the smiling face of Deku, the one that made her victory possible beaming at her and applauding with the rest of her class.
Using One For All she launched herself into the crowd and onto her crush and kissed him.
All of her love and borrowed power poured into him as One For All was returned to the Ninth. Leaving the poor broccoli haired boy speechless.
"WE DID IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH DEKU! I LOVE YOU! TODAY'S THE BEST DAY EVER!" She squealed before her 6th sense for mochi activated. She spun her head round to see her prize being brought out and promptly dove towards the year's supply of mochi.
As Uraraka started devouring her prized mochi Deku felt his heart explode with emotion over what just happened
That explosion was fueled even more by One For All reaching singularity the moment it was returned to him.
The Sixth's Smokescreen leaked out of Dekus ears before he promptly fainted, overstimulated by the events that just transpired. As his consciousness drifted away he heard squealing from Mina and Toru, as well as some sort of muffled death threat from Mineta.
As those voices died out and the world cut to black his vision was replaced with the blurry sight of 9 different figures and the sound of laughter, he didn’t recognise any of them bar 2 flaming silhouettes of gold and red.
If he thought this past year was hectic then he would have no idea what the new year would have in store for him.
As for Uraraka, later that night she was finally able to come down from her mochi high…though she wasn’t able to come down from the ceiling. She’d spent the night up there after she floated herself up in embarrassment once she realized that she’d ended up confessing to Deku and kissing him after the contest.
Really Ochaco!? It’s not ‘nuff that’cha ask to borrow his quirk but then not only do ya proclaim your love to Deku but you havta kiss him too!? What am I s’posed to say when I see him!?
While she continued to have an internal crisis she wasn’t able to notice the flaming vestige that remained with her. Its face glowed a bright red while the rest of it was doused in green fire.
Deku wasn’t the only one to have a hectic year ahead.
