Work Text:

Kakania looked at the noir in front of her. The girl she had once loved, the girl she considered her closest friend was changing right in front of her. Was she even in the same girl anymore? Kakania stared at the girl once more. Had Kakania done enough? No, no, this wasn’t her fault at all, nor was it Isolde’s or Marcus’s fault for these disasters.

Wait Marcus? Ah yes… Marcus. Kakania turned her head to the small brunette in front of her. It looked like she was kneeling, crying. Of course she was crying though, her advisor or maybe the person she considered her mom had just died in front of her. Pierced in the heart by Isolde’s gun. Kakania sighed, she looked back at Isolde. Her heart hurt looking at her but at the same time she couldn’t just give up on her. Not here, not now… she had grown to love Isolde and even if the girl in front of her was now a convicted felonist she didn’t care. It wasn’t any of their fault any of this happened and so as Kakania snapped out of her thoughts she grabbed Isolde’s waist pulling the noir girl against her chest.

Kakania hugged Isolde tightly making sure to never let go. Even if the girl in front of her was now a criminal she still loved her. She was the girl she wanted to be with at the very beginning and the girl she’d stay with at the end too. She knew it probably wasn’t right but at the same time she knew somewhere in Isolde’s heart maybe all she needed was the touch of the one she loved most. Kakania clutched onto Isolde harder, not wanting to let go. She couldn’t let go now, as she looked up at Isolde, her eyes now red from the tears she shed earlier. She looked into Isolde’s eyes and found the gentle eyes of the girl she had once known before.

As kakania stared directly into Isolde she could see the eye bags underneath Isolde’s eyes from the many night of crying. Her soft pale cheeks now drenched with tears tears as they looked at each other. Now knowing that Isolde was still there, still save able, she did the only thing she could do and swooped Isolde into her arms as she dashed over to Marcus.

Isolde now both teary eyed and shocked by the sudden change in direction gasped out Kakania’s name. “Doctor, What are you-!?” She was cut off by Kakania grabbing Marcus too and sprinting out the building. Even if Marcus was still sad and maybe even still crying they both knew well that Marcus couldn’t stay there anymore. Hofmann was no longer with them, and Marcus was now needed back at the foundation more than ever.

Not that any of them were sure what happen but as they ran to the far side of Vienna, Kakania set Isolde down lightly onto the pavement. Kakania pulled Isolde’s waist once more but this time into a kiss, a kiss they had both been longing so desperately for. It started out as desperate soft kisses and then turned into sloppy fast kisses. Their tongues swirled with one another’s as they held each other in their arms, never wanting to let go. Only stopping when they needed to catch air and remembered poor Marcus was still watching them.

They both giggled and pulled Marcus into their arms. Even though Marcus looked more serious now, you could still hear the tiny giggle she made when she was hugged and the small smile that grew on her face as they all snuggled together.

And even if the world is collapsing and the cities are crumbling at least they still have each other to keep them through the cold nights and the monstrosities of it all.

Notes:

My first Isolkania fic. Yippie!! This was requested by my lovely girlfriend and I had been meaning to write this anyways so a win is a win. I hope you guys enjoy this as much I enjoyed writing it.

I barely see any isolkania fanfics which is odd as this ship is pretty popular. I guess it’s not popular enough though.

Edit: forgive me once again if there are any spelling errors or if the writing is lackluster. This was very rushed and I wrote this around midnight so I’ll probably rewrite it later in the morning.
