“Shit… I don’t know what I’d do with all that hair…”
Nakahara Chuuya stood beside you in the museum, whistling lowly at the wax figures of apelike ancestors slowly evolving into modern human beings. The depiction is quite famous. You and him had a free day and decided to visit the local anthropology museum, which was surprising as Chuuya had never seemed to take an interest in that area of study. The museum tour you had taken was coming to a close, and you fell into step with him as your other tourmates mingled ahead.
“I learned quite a bit today. I almost can’t believe humans weren’t just… human to begin with. That they had to develop into us, I guess.”
Chuuya stuck his hands into the pockets of his slacks as the tour ended in the museum’s shop, as most tours do. He huffed, muttering under his breath about capitalism, but quickly gave into the idea with you as everyone dispersed.
“Let’s commemorate today, shall we?”
He follows you over to the section with the mugs, gasping at the ones fashioned like skulls.
“No wonder you choose this field of study! This shit is sick! I think I’ll take ten… no, twelve!”
As he fawns over the drinking receptacles, you found a different item to focus on that caught your gaze. You go down the aisle, where the jewelry is hanging against the wall. There are several bone-inspired items, but what drew you in was something entirely separate.
“Hey, what’d you find?”
Chuuya had paused his excursion to check on you, and he seems just as taken by the item as you are.
“Oh, that’s an arrowhead, isn’t it? Human, uh, ancestors made these themselves through tireless action against other stones to hunt and protect themselves… err, that’s what I learned, anyway.” The redhead hummed thoughtfully as he picked one up. “You know… they really made something out of a whole world of possibility. Ain’t that crazy to think about?”
“You should keep this with you.” Chuuya remarked, smiling and passing the arrowhead to you before going back to get his precious mugs. “Brick-by-brick, you’ll begin again. You’ll see.”
