“I wonder if there’s anything worthwhile in here?”
Dazai Osamu accompanied you to a gift shop on the quieter side of town. He noticed you hadn’t quite been yourself lately and had wanted to keep you company, and he wanted to see if there was anything to do nearby that you hadn’t had time to do with your busy schedule. Lo and behold, a gift shop had popped up near the bus stop you frequented, and Dazai had insisted upon checking it out.
“A gift shop all the way out here… I bet a lot of tourists from all over drop by this little place.” The brunet does not wander far from you, keeping tabs on your demeanor and the things you picked up to inspect. “Go ahead and browse. Share anything cool you find!”
You took the advice to heart, actually scanning the shelves for anything out of the ordinary. It was a standard gift shop with a fair amount of impractical and outlandish items, really. You inspect a custom car plate with your name on it.
“C’mon, you can do better than that.” Dazai huffs a little, reaching over you and pointing at a glass globe with a hefty base, a thick stick in the middle of the globe with a ball-point tip. “Well, would’ya look at that?”
It seems to be plugged in, and you watched Dazai touch the surface of the glass and slightly recoil as a yellow-purple string of electricity connects with the glass. He let out an incredulous breath of surprise and he reflexively snatched his hand away from it.
“So it’s a plasma ball. I haven’t seen one of these since I was in school.” He tapped at it again gingerly, glancing over at you curiously. “You studied something like this, didn’t you?”
Without waiting for an answer, he grabs your hand and puts it on the globe, a soft expression entering his features at your inquisitive gaze.
“That settles it. Consider this one all yours.” Dazai picks up one of the packaged plasma balls for you and begins to head to the counter. “Life will iron itself out… if you let it.”
