Chapter Text
He couldn't take it anymore, Yoo Joonghyuk crossed the limit this time.
Everything was going good, with some looks that seemed like he wanted to kill someone and some sudden hugs to take him away from others, nothing that he couldn't handle and control. But this time, this time he went too far.
For some time Kim Dokja had been talking to Sun Wukong about his book, which he had told him about on previous occasions but he never let Kim Dokja read it, even when he asked him to do so with a look that showed too much enthusiasm (He thought he had finally convinced Sun Wunkong, too bad he didn't). That's why today in the morning, when he called Kim Dokja into his office telling him that he had something important that he wanted him to review, the last thing he thought was that it was the same writing that he had told him about for so long, asking him to read it and give his opinion.
He was so excited to be able to take a look at Sun Wukong's work that he stopped listening halfway through the conversation, all his attention was focused on the writing in his hands, although he came to his senses when he heard that he asked him to be the editor of his work.
HE ASKED HIM!! OF COURSE HE WAS GOING TO ACCEPT IT, HE'S NOT A FOOL (Not all the time)
He didn't even need to think about it much, he accepted with great enthusiasm and an excited shout, giving him a hug that surprised the other man, but which he gratefully accepted upon realizing Dokja's happiness for the job.
And well, maybe that was why, it was the only thing that occurred to him at that moment. Maybe because of that hug, and the fact that he came home talking about Sun Wukong and being his editor, and the photo that Han Sooyoung sent to Yoo Joonghyuk (who knows how she took it) while she teased him saying "he is stealing your love, Joonghyuk~" (Dokja knows she'll never regret it)
Whatever it was, it ended in an argument that escalated very quickly. Where Yoo Joonghyuk was complaining to him for hugging Sun Wukong and taking his job, while Kim Dokja responded by saying that he should be happy for him, and his opportunity to accept the job of someone he admired. Among a bunch of extra statements that had nothing to do with the topic, they were just saying things to say.
"YOO JOONGHYUK, I HAVE NO INTENTION TO REJECT THIS, NOT WHEN I'VE WAITED SO LONG TO READ SUN WUKONG'S WORK" Kim Dokja shouted, annoyed by the tall man's sudden scene of jealousy.
"WELL YOU COULD READ IT AFTER IT'S PUBLISHED, WHY ACCEPT IT NOW? YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIM" Yoo Joonghyuk responded just as annoyed, without giving in.
"AND WHY SHOULD I WAIT WHEN I CAN DO IT NOW? WHAT IS ANNOYING YOU SO MUCH? IT WILL BE LIKE REVIEWING ONE OF HAN SOONYOUNG'S WORKS, I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR ANNOYANCE"
"WELL HAN SOOYOUNG DOESN'T LIKE YOU IDIOT, I CAN SEE IT, THAT MONKEY LIKES YOU
"DON'T CALL HIM THAT BASTARD" he responded, as he exhaled and inhaled, trying to calm down and think properly.
"I WILL CALL HIM WHATEVER I WANT, I KNOW HE WANTS YOU" Yoo Joonghyuk said, ending any attempt to find calm.
"IT'S ENOUGH YOO JOONGHYUK, HE DON'T LIKE ME THAT WAY, LEAVE YOUR STUPID JEALOUSY, TRUST ME" he yelled at him.
"IT'S NOT JEALOUSY, JUST NOTICE HOW HE SEES YOU DOKJA" replied the younger one.
"YOU KNOW WHAT, I'M ALREADY SICK OF THIS YOO JOONGHYUK, YOU ALWAYS DO THE SAME THING, I HAVE NO INTENTION TO REJECT THIS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CAN LEAVE, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU WANT" he shouted in front of him, looking him in the eyes while the other looked surprised.
"Well, if that's what you want. I'm leaving" Yoo Joonghyuk said, grabbing his coat and walking out the door without waiting for a response.
"YOO JOONGHYUK" Call out, staring at the closed door wondering if he's really going to leave the things there.
He preferred to lie down on the couch while he calmed down, waiting to sink completely until he became part of him. Reminding himself to later write to Han Soonyoung complaining about the photo and telling her what had happened.
-
He didn't know how long he had slept, but apparently it was already after 5 pm, could see the sunset from the window. He decided it was time to get up from the couch and look for something to eat, the apartment was very quiet, so thought that Yoo Joonghyuk probably hadn't returned yet.
To pass the time, he text to Han Sooyoung, who told him that she was in the middle of a chapter, so he left her alone. Lie, he called her listening to how she responded by yelling something at him about interrupting her moment of inspiration (he didn't care, it was his revenge for the photo). He told her everything that happened, listening to her complain about having to hear the problem in their relationship (which she caused this time).
"I really think you should break up with that idiot," she told him directly, without thinking much about it.
"I don't want to do that, you know I love him too much, but it's just that when it comes to Wunkong he doesn't control himself" Kim Dokja replied.
"Well there's a point, rat, you're the only one who doesn't realize how interested he is in you."
"Don't start too witch, Sun Wukong doesn't like me, you guys are wrong"
"Yes, of course, and why did he only talk to you about his book? He didn't say anything to anyone else, and for so many months, he has too much esteem and trust in you, not to mention that he values your opinion too much. He simply hasn't tried anything because he knows you have a caveman boyfriend" Han Sooyoung said with a tone as if she were saying something too obvious "Not even to me, I'm his star writer but he hasn't told me anything"
"Well, I wouldn't tell you anything either if I were writing something" he responded while listening to her complaint "I can't believe it, it's impossible. Anyway, the fact is that Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't trust me, I would never think of leaving him for someone else"
"Well, that's his problem, and you guys have to talk about it. Make that bastard apologize to you, tell him to trust you, and that I don't want to keep listening to your relationship problems," Han Sooyoung said, trying to end that conversation, those two idiots were too obsessed with each other.
"I'll do it when he comes back, and don't call him a bastard, only I can do it. And whether you want it or not, you'll have to keep listening to me for being my best friend" he replied, saying louder and in a silly and affectionate tone "best friend"
"Ew, that's disgusting, don't do that again, rat. I'm out, you guys make me sick," she responded disgustedly as she ended the call.
He stared at the phone screen while sighing. "Well, I don't think he'll be back that late. I'd better watch a series while I wait," Kim Dokja said, thinking out loud, sinking back into the couch.
-
It was around 11pm as he finished his impromptu marathon, felt like he couldn't understand what was happening in that serie anymore, it was horrible, he would definitely make Han Sooyoung watch it. Yoo Joonghyuk still hadn't arrived yet, which made him feel a little worried even though he didn't want to text him (they're both too stubborn for their own good).
Thought it would be better to catch up on the web novels he was reading. Deciding that he wanted some wine to accompany his reading, he went to get it and lay back down on the couch, waiting for his grumpy and jealous boyfriend to return.
-
The sound of the keys in the door woke him up, it was so loud in the silence that filled his apartment, looking at the phone screen he realized that it was around 3am.
"Pretty late to arrive sunfish" said Kim Dokja rather quietly.
"Kim Dokja" Yoo Joonghyuk was surprised "I thought you would be asleep"
"Well, it was, but look, you're very noisy" he responded as he watched the taller one approach where he was.
"Sorry, you can go back to sleep, I'll try not to make so much noise."
"No!" He said louder this time "We need to talk to Yoo Joonghyuk"
The so-called sunfish walked towards him, sitting next to him. Noticing the wine bottle and glass abandoned on the table in front of the couch.
"You were drinking, weren't you?" Yoo Joonghyuk said, while trying to dissipate the tension in his body.
"It's pretty obvious, you bastard," he replied, rolling his eyes. "Don't think about complaining, I know you were too, you reek of alcohol."
"Hmm..."
"So, about our fight..." Kim Dokja began.
"I'm sorry, really," he let out a sigh as he answered.
"You always say the same thing, but you don't seem to really mean it" Kim Dokja turned around to look at his face "Yoo Joonghyuk, you have to control your jealousy better. I can't just ignore it, it seems like you don't trust me enough"
"I..." he said, taking a deep breath to continue. "I'm really sorry, but every time I see someone else so close, I can't help it. Especially when you don't realize their intentions, I on trust you, but not on them," Yoo Joonghyuk said, as he turned to face each other.
"I know that I can't notice the people who love me, for me it's almost impossible you know? But that doesn't mean that I suddenly decide to go with anyone, not when I have you, Yoo Joonghyuk"
"And I know it, Dokja, I know but... To think that you could find someone better, to think that you could leave me for him. It makes me feel insecure knowing that you could leave me for someone you admire as much as"
"Don't mention him, Yoo Joonghyuk," he interrupted "You know I admire him because he gave me a better job than I expected doing what I like, of course I'll be happy to accept being the editor of someone who helped me get where I am now. But that doesn't mean I like him in that way, the only one I love it's you, Yoo Joonghyuk, believe me"
"Kim Dokja, I love you too, and I'm so sorry, really, it's just that thinking that you'll be so close, that you might end up loving him more than me, scares me. You two have a lot in common. He might be better than me, I feel insecure when you're around him, maybe getting more closer to him could make you see that being with him could be better" he replied in a whisper.
At that moment Kim Dokja realized that his sunfish had drunk too much, he looked like he was going to cry, showing his emotions much more. Something quite strange, a sign that he was a little drunk.
Getting closer, taking the face of his depressed and insecure boyfriend in his hands, with the calmest voice he had, almost in a whisper he said "Bastard, it's impossible for someone to take your place, I wouldn't change you for anything in this world, even though sometimes you can be unbearable. I love you too much to let you go" leaving a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Kim Dokja" Yoo Joonghyuk whispered too, giving a hug to his lover wanting him to be as close to him as possible, he didn't want to let his love go either, never "I love you Kim Dokja, I'm sorry. I'm going to get better, I'm going to change that, I promise" kissing him this time "I love you Dokja"
"I love you too, Yoo Joonghyuk," he whispered as he kissed him back. "Now let's go to sleep, please."
"Of course," he answered, as he carried him in his arms, not wanting to push him away, taking them to his room. Where he didn't plan to stop hugging him, until they inevitably have to separate and continue with their peaceful routine. Still, he planned to hold him in his arms every chance he got, because Kim Dokja was his, just as much as Yoo Joonghyuk was only his.
