Water Pipe Leak - Section 201 Level 14 Corridor 111B

This is a notice to avoid the subject section. A water pipe has busted, thus flooding the area. Level 14 will be without water until the issue is corrected. Maintenance is working around the clock to repair this issue.

“So are you on?” Pyrondi quietly asks Hammerly as Eli walks by them in the break room. He isn’t eavesdropping, as he pours himself and the Admiral a cup of caf, but he can’t not listen, either.
“Hell yeah. I’m from an island,” Hammerly says, “I can surf anywhere.”
“Hey Vanto,” Pyrondi barks as he prepares to exit the break room and get back to work. “Do you have any word on when that water leak will be fixed?”
His heart sinks. He has served with Hammerly for a while now, but while she and Pyrondi have become fast friends, he always feels like an outsider. They’ve gone out for drinks while shoreside a few times, but whenever the two women are hashing out plans quietly, he rarely gets an invitation. It’s fine.
“Not really. The commodore doesn’t really micromanage.”
“What do you think our chances of it still being broken after shift are?”
Eli shrugs. “I’d hazard about 70 percent. I’ve seen the maintenance room. They’ll be lucky if they find the parts they need before the end of shift, let alone fix it.”
A smile stretches across Pyrondi’s face. “Excellent. Do you surf?”
He shifts his weight. “Yeah.” That is a broad stretch of the truth if anything. Lysatra is a desert planet. He mostly goofed off on his cousin’s hoverboard when he was younger.
“Cool. Want to surf the corridor? A bunch of us are going after shift today, if the mess isn’t cleaned up by then.”
“Yeah! I mean, sure. Sounds cool.”
“Awesome, see you then.”

Lieutenant Commander Fickser,
Any ETA on when this will be fixed? The Auxiliary Mess hall has been affected by the water shut off (located in Section 199, Level 14, Corridor 109A). This is detrimental as the staff from Level 14 will have to dine in our neighboring mess halls, thus overtaxing the food and staff located there. Please advise.

“Caf for you, sir,” Eli says, setting the foam cup on his desk alongside the flock of datapads perched there.
“Thank you, Lieutenant Commander,” Thrawn says without bothering to look up from his study. “Does your schedule allow for additional work today?”
Eli thinks of his plans to hang out with Pyrondi after work. “Yes, sir. What do you need?”
Thrawn finally sets down his datapad and looks up at him. “A list of all ship units that have been negatively impacted by the water shutdown on level 14. If the issue goes uncorrected, we will need to… re-organize our personnel to avoid potential chaos.”
“Absolutely sir, I’ll get right on it.”

It doesn’t take Eli much time to assemble the list of affected ship functions. There are two mess halls, four laundry services, eighty restrooms, and 25 gyms with showers. Overall, there will be about 2,500 displaced people of varying displeasure.
“Sir, the list you requested,” he says, offering Thrawn a datapad.
“Ah, thank you Commander. I will review and come up with a displacement solution if necessary. Thank you.”

If you scroll to the top of the chain, you’ll see that the water has been shut off for section 14 due to a water pipe leak.

There are literally gyms on every level of this ship. Use a public shower there.

“Ugh, I hate reply-all chains,” Pyrondi groans. “We get it, there is a water main break and the few ensigns who didn’t learn to shower in basic are wallowing around like packbulls in mud.”
“Lieutenant Commander,” Thrawn says softly as everyone’s datapad chimes again. “Please ask Lieutenant Commander Fickser what he needs in order to provide an estimated time of completion.”
“Yes, sir.”

The water covers the top lip of Eli’s boot as he sloshes his way across to Level 14. He finds Pyrondi and Hammerly along with Dobbs and a few other pilots. Hammerly holds a slender, oval board and is talking eagerly with Pyrondi.
“Vanto! You made it!” Hammerly smiles.
Everyone turns to face him and he offers what is surely an awkward wave. “Hey, guys!”
“We invited a few other people, but I don’t think they saw it with the fucking sea of reply alls,” Pyrondi says.
“Did you see the one guy who wrote a poem?” One of the pilots asks. Eli can’t remember her name.
“I did, what an asshole,” Dobbs says and rolls his eyes. “So, how’re we doing this?”
Hammerly shows them how to surf the water and avoid scraping the board across the floor. None of them are particularly concerned with scuffing the floor; however, the idea of friction lessening their distance is a huge point of consideration.
“Alright,” Hammerly jogs back, water splashing up onto her greens and hands Eli the board. “Your turn!”
With a grin, Eli takes the board and runs, jumping up onto it when he has enough momentum. He surfs for a few beats, and sinks into the water. His distance isn’t nearly as far as Hammerly, but everyone slaps him on the back as he returns the board.
“Not bad for a desert boy!” Dobbs grins.
The night passes like this. Several more people show up, turning into a proper sporting event and naturally a competition begins. Everyone is shooting for the longest distance, time, and of course style plays into the score as well.
Eli runs up to return the board, properly soaked now and his stomach drops. Nobody is cheering for him, in fact they are all incredibly stiff in the presence of the commodore.
“Sir,” Eli comes to attention, dropping the board.
“I see that the problem has yet to be resolved.”
“No sir.”
“Very well. Please, continue.”
Thrawn strides away confidently and everyone lets out a breath.
Eli picks up the board and hands it to an ensign. “Your turn.”

Eli arrives at their shared quarters late, but he knows he won’t be waking Thrawn. The door hisses open and Eli toes through in just his socks, sopping boots in hand.
“Hey,” Eli says, knowing Thrawn likely didn’t hear the door.
“Good evening,” Thrawn bids. “How was the morale exercise?”
Eli shrugs. “Good exercise physically and emotionally. How’d you know about it?”
“Hammerly and Pyrondi are not as quiet as they think they are.”
Eli huffs. “Yeah I’ve noticed.”
“I have it on good authority that the leak will be corrected tomorrow.”
“I take it Fickser had a hard time finding the tools?”
“No, not that I am aware of.”
“Oh.”
“I directed him to begin work tomorrow.”
“Why?”
Thrawn smirks. “As I said, Hammerly and Pyrondi do not plot quietly.”
Eli can feel a smile spreading across his face. “You could have joined us.”
“Ah. Well, morale exercises are significantly less successful with the presence of the Commanding Officer.”
“You’re probably right.”
Thrawn hums.
“Well, next time you should join us.”
“Perhaps.”
