Put your head on my shoulder

Summary:

Silence invades their surroundings again but it's not the type of awkward silence but rather a calm and numb-minded one. All they could just hear was the sound of the sea waves blowing by the wind and the faint chattering from the distance.

Sunoo put his head on his shoulder.

———

“Thank you so much, Riki. I appreciate your company so much, really. Although we just met in an unexpected situation. I owe you one. Let me treat you someday when we meet again. I asked for your number earlier, right? I'll just contact you.”

Work Text:

Just when Riki was about to finish the last hit of his cigarette outside his car door, he felt a slight movement of the car from the backseat as if someone had just got in. His car was parked at the back of the church where he thought that some couples were just getting married, planning to start ruining their life the moment they came out of that saint house, with pieces of metals wrapped around their fingers as the sign of their supposed long life commitment.

Out of curiosity, Riki throws the cigarette butt to the pavement and steps on it to kill the burn before getting inside the driver's seat to see if whoever the fuck mistook him as a taxi driver. And from there, he saw a well-shaped body of a gorgeous guy wearing a neat white tuxedo, seated in the backseat, face buried in both palms and who's crying his heart out because of something he doesn't wanna know.

Riki cleared his throat to speak but before he could spit a word to tell the guy that he's in the wrong car, the guy proceeded to speak before him.

“Please just drive me away from here. I don't wanna see any of them.” said the guy in a crack voice.

Riki was just watching the crying guy in the rearview mirror for a moment before he sighed and started the car’s engine. When they were already miles away from the church, he sighed again and opened the compartment to grab some tissue and give it to the guy who quickly took it and said a little thank you. He turned up the stereo to play Mr. Lonely by Bobby Vinton. After a few more whining, the noise finally stopped and Riki rolled his eyes and whispered ‘Thank you, Jesus’ under his breath.

“The fuck?"

Finally, he noticed.

“Where are we? Who are you? Where are you taking me?” Riki's eyebrows furrowed and peeked at the guy from the rearview mirror.

“Are you gonna panic? ‘Cause we're in the middle of the mountain road and I'm telling you, we might get into a car crash." When Riki saw the guy's face in awe, lips slightly parted in confusion, he spoke again.

"Good. So, first of all, I don't know you, you don't know me and you just suddenly hopped in the wrong car– which is my car obviously while I'm enjoying myself smoking outside. Secondly, I have never kidnapped someone in my life– not that I'm planning to if that's what you're thinking. I'm from old money, by the way.”

“... Right. But why–"

“Why am I driving you? Because you mistook me for a taxi driver and commanded me to drive you away from that Holy castle. And as a good samaritan– sometimes, I followed you without any further questions ‘cause you're busy crying your snots out.”

“Still, you should have told me!"

"Don't shout pretty boy, I hate loud voices.”

The whole car was put into silence again as the song playing on the stereo, came to an end.

The guy shook his head out of disbelief. “Pull over. Just put me down here. I'll just wait for a real taxi."

"You sure? Because we're in the middle of nowhere on a slightly foggy mountain road and it's almost dusk.”

“Just pull over, please."

“Alright. As you wished then." Riki pulled the car to the side of the road and killed the engine.

Riki heard the car door open and close then he peeked at the guy who's standing to the side through the car window "Are you really okay here?”

"Yes. Now leave me alone.”

"Damn,” Riki stared at the guy in amusement. “Okay, you're welcome."

But after driving away in slow motion from the guy who's still standing on side of the road, Riki rolled his eyes for a second and exclaimed in defeat as his conscience is messing with his brain before slowly driving backwards to where the guy's standing and he opened the door in the passenger seat but the pretty boy just stared at him in confusion.

“Hop in. I know a place."

“Leave me a–"

Riki rolled his eyes again in annoyance. “Just hop in, Mr. Lonely. Don't put me in charge of your death."

When the guy went inside, he gave him a thank you and Riki gasped in sarcasm.

"Wow, I didn't know Mr. Lonely knew how to thank people.”

“Stop calling me Mr. Lonely. I have a name and quit being sarcastic.”

"What's your name then?”

"Kim Sunoo.” Sunoo stated in a plain tone.

“Well, nice to meet you, Mr. Lonely Suno–" Riki didn't let his words finish as Sunoo sent him death glares. He just pursed his lips to suppressed his smile.

“What's yours?"

Riki offered his hand in front of Sunoo to shake hands. “Nishimura Riki, your mistook taxi driver.” But Sunoo didn't accept his hand and just ignores it and goes back of staring outside the window.

“I said quit being sarcastic, Riki." Riki ignored the latter this time and started the engine and drove away

"Alright. So, a runaway groom, huh?” He turned up the stereo again and played the Downtown - Downtempo by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Riki saw how Sunoo's eyebrows met in a concerned way and stared at the stereo where the song is playing but decided to ignore it. The guy was probably confused with his car songs of choices but Riki couldn't care less.

“You can say that." Sunoo responded in a cracked tone.

"Why? ‘Cause it doesn't look like someone wouldn't want to marry you, you know? If I'd be honest, you're a gorgeous man and– wait, are you crying again?” Riki panicked and opened the compartment to grab a tissue paper and gave it to Sunoo.

Sunoo accepted the tissue and gave him a side-eye and said, “It’s because the song is making me cry, adding something to what I'm feeling right now!”

Riki just gave him a low chuckle.

“Sorry not sorry. Anyway, I haven't eaten yet. Do you want to eat?”

"Your treat?" Sunoo asked in an innocent tone that made Riki chuckled in amusement.

“Okay, my treat."

And Sunoo nodded. "Thanks.”

Sunoo's reply secretly put a smile on Riki's face. After a while of driving miles away from the mountain, they stopped by the fast-food restaurant with a lot of lights dominating the place so that maybe it could be quickly noticed by passers-by. Riki looked for a parking space and he didn't even get in trouble to find one. He turned off the engine and went out of the car first before opening the other door for Sunoo.

He can give himself a medal for being a gentleman to a stranger at this point.

When they sat down at one of the available tables, one of the crews approached them to give them the menus and wait for their orders. Riki asked Sunoo what he wanted to eat.

“What do you want to eat?”

“Whatever you order."

Riki leaned down to Sunoo's face. “So, if I just order water, that is gonna be yours too?" Sunoo heard the crew laughing a little who's standing to their side.

Riki received a glare from the latter. “I told you to quit being sarcastic! I'm genuine here.”

“Sure. Do you want a heavy meal or just light? I'm eating a heavy meal.”

"Light meal." Riki nodded to Sunoo's answer and gave their orders to the crew who told them to wait in three minutes.

After a while of eating their hearts out, they went to a nearby convenience store to buy some snacks and beers. Riki brought Sunoo to the spot where he sometimes visits whenever he wants to be alone and have a peaceful mind.

“How did you find this place?" Sunoo cleared the dead air.

Riki just shrugged his shoulders and carelessly sat on the white sand.

"I love roadtrip.” He looked up at Sunoo, closing his one eye as the wind blew causing the strand of his hair poking his eye, who's just watching the seashore and standing by his side.

“Sit down, Mr. Lonely."

Sunoo's eyes looked down to the sand and shifted to his white slacks. Riki tuts when he notices what was that means. So he stood up and walked towards the back of his car and opened the compartment to grab a jacket and walked back to their spot.

He flattened the jacket beside him for Sunoo. “Now, sit down."

"Thanks again and stop calling me Mr. Lonely. Damn it.”

"What? It's one of my favorite songs.”

"God, spare me with your favorite old songs, Nishimura.”

Riki goes back to staring at the peaceful waves of the seashore.

“I do whatever I want."

Riki opened the beers and gave the other one to the latter. "So, you owe me a story since I treated you like a disney princess, Kim. Why did you end up being a runaway groom?”

“I don't wanna marry someone I don't love."

“Obviously, you're stating the obvious."

Sunoo caught off guard with Riki's sarcasm and instead of being offended, he just humor him out. In between chuckles Sunoo lightly punched Riki's shoulder, “You can't really quit being sarcastic, no? You're also a talkative person."

Riki gave him a smirk before drinking his beer. He guessed Sunoo had just an empty stomach earlier.

Sunoo asked him this time. “How about you? Why were you at the back of the church?”

“Alone time? I don't know. Maybe I just like to randomly stand by everywhere."

"You're wasting gas.”

Riki shrugged his shoulders. “Doesn't matter. I worked part time.”

And that made Sunoo confused. “You said you're from old money?"

"Just a bonus for myself.”

Sunoo nodded as he got what he meant. “You don't have work today?"

"The manager made me work overtime the other two days, so yeah.” Riki tilted his head and looked at him in perplexed, "Why are we talking about me? Shouldn't I be the one asking you questions?”

Sunoo just ignored him and continued to watch the waves.

Silence invades their surroundings again but it's not the type of awkward silence but rather a calm and numb-minded one. All they could just hear was the sound of the sea waves, blowing by the wind and the faint chattering from the distance.

Sunoo put his head on his shoulder.

Time passes by and Sunoo already drank a few bottles which is why he's feeling tipsy. He was about to chug the last fill of the beer when Riki abruptly held his wrist to stop him from drinking.

“Let's get back to the car."

Sunoo brushed off his hand and drank the remaining beer.

“Done!" Sunoo belted while showing his empty bottle to Riki.

“Jesus Christ, you're giving me unexpected responsibility."

Riki pulled up Sunoo and shook the sand that got stock on his white slacks.

Sunoo was about to stumble if it weren't for Riki's hand that quickly wrapped around his waist.

“Oh my God, you don't have a single clogged pores."

"So are you. Come on stand the fuck up, wasted beauty.”

Sunoo pouted and pushed him a little. “Who are you calling wasted beauty??"

Riki chuckled because of him. "Wasted from drinking, not running away from your wedding. Stand still. I'll pick up the jacket and the trash.”

Riki supported Sunoo from walking until they reached the passenger seat and put him down to the leather seat. Riki also attached the seatbelt for him. And because his face was close to Sunoo's face, he clearly heard him mumbling something.

“Can I kiss you?"

Riki slightly widened his eyes in shock but he also couldn't hide his smile.

“Of course you can…” He giggled, "when you're sober.”

"Nishimura Riki, I'm sober."

Riki nodded, discarding what Sunoo said. “Yeah, talk to my hand."

Riki was about to come out of the passenger seat, when Sunoo suddenly pulled him closer using his varsity's collar to fully kissed him on the lips. Riki adjusted the seat to lie down Sunoo's back and kissed him back with the same ferocity. Sunoo moaned in his mouth when the latter felt his tongue fight back.

Sunoo encircles his hands around Riki’s neck to kiss him even deeper. Riki's lips traveled from Sunoo's lips down to his neck until he reached the visible skin peeking from the loose collar of the pretty boy.

Riki didn't notice that he's already unbuttoning the first two buttons of Sunoo's white polo and before his hand got any farther, he nipped Sunoo's skin just above his collarbone first before finally letting him go.

“Why? Why did you stop?” Sunoo exhaled in frustration and Riki was just watching him getting frustrated. Riki brushed off the strand of Sunoo's hair sticking on his forehead.

“Sober up, Sunoo. I'll take you home, now. Give me your address." Riki buttoned up Sunoo's polo before adjusting the seat forward.

“Sunoo who? Am I no more Mr. Lonely?” Sunoo asked in a cute tone and Riki couldn't help but to chuckled and give him a peck on the lips out of adoration.

“Take a nap. I'll wake you up when we're back to the city." Riki took a deep breath before fixing his wrinkled varsity and returned back to the driver's seat.

“You're such a killjoy." Sunoo told him while he turned on the engine.

Riki did not talk anymore. He unconsciously licks his lips from time to time as if he's still feeling the tingling sensation of Sunoo's plump and sweet lips against his.

After a moment of Sunoo's rant about their interrupted kiss, the whole car ride went into silence as the latter slumbers from sleeping. Riki could notice how Sunoo's head was uncomfortably moving around every time the car humped. So using his hand, he held Sunoo's head and laid him on his shoulder.

When they were already in the city, Riki gently tapped Sunoo's cheek to wake him up.

“Hey, we're here."

Sunoo woke up groggily and felt the strike of pain on his neck.

“My neck hurts." Sunoo mumbled with a slight sore throat.

But Riki paid him no attention. “Good morning. Input your address there." Sunoo nodded and tapped the stereo to put his address. Riki gave him a water bottle.

When they finally arrived at his address, Sunoo was getting ready to get out as Riki watched him.

“Thank you so much, Riki. I appreciate your company so much, really. Although we just met in an unexpected situation. I owe you one. Let me treat you someday when we meet again. I asked for your number earlier, right? I'll just contact you.” Sunoo can see that Riki was just watching him all the time from the driver's seat but he didn't pay attention to the detail anymore.

Sunoo sweetly smiled at Riki one last time. “Good morning again. See you next time.”

Sunoo was already close to his house when he noticed that he had something in his arm and that's when he realized it was Riki's jacket. But when he looked back from where the car was parked, it was already gone and all that was left was dust.

He just shrugged it off because he thought at least he already has a reason to meet him again this time.
