Wei Ying knows he’s being unreasonable, he can feel himself acting irrationally as he stares down at little Jingyi.
Either way, he is one hundred thousand percent sure the kid is out to get him.
This child sprung out of the devil’s chest, crawled straight out of hell in pursuit of Wei Ying’s soul and his lover’s heart.
What else could it be? He knows it, he merely needs to witness the evil little mischievous twinkle in the brat’s eyes each time Jiang Cheng cradles him lovingly to his chest and makes cooing noises.
The gremlin gurgles as he stares up at Wei Ying from his crib, his whole left foot in his mouth all the while his bedding mindlessly with his free tiny hand.
“You think you’re so cute” Wei Ying mutters, frowning at the nine month old boy.
“I see right through your trickery, you little demon. Just cause’ Jiang Cheng is utterly charmed by you, completely besotted. But I see you, villain, you with your baby cheeks and little arms. Stop stealing my dearest’s attention.”
Wei Ying can’t help but rue the fact that the little chubby cheeked brat is in fact quite adorable. Little Lan Jingyi sneezes cutely and Wei Ying can feel himself melting, the beginnings of a smile creeping upon his face. He reminds himself that this boy is his enemy.
As if sensing his inner turmoil, Jingyi giggles, hiccups then farts. Wei Ying has half a second to pull a face of disgust before a sudden shrill cry is piercing his ears.
“Oh my god, oh my god, what’s wrong? What did I do? Please stop crying! A-Cheng!” Wei Ying wails not knowing what to do with himself.
“What? What happened?”
“I didn’t do anything! He just—” Wei Ying gestures wildly quickly losing his wits.
“For god’s sake, move” Jiang Cheng grumbles, shoving past Wei Ying. “Completely useless. He needs to be changed” he quickly reaches down for Jingyi and soothes him with small shushing noises and small strokes across his little baby back.
“Oh” Wei Ying says unintelligently, watching as Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes and carries Jingyi over to his bed. “I don’t even know why you invited me over if you were so busy babysitting”
“You invited yourself over” Jiang Cheng huffs incredulously, busying himself with changing Jingyi’s dirty diaper. He catches Wei Ying sulking by the door and laughs a little louder this time.
“Oh, well sorry for wanting to spend time with you” Wei Ying says sarcastically,
“not like it even matters, clearly, since you’re much too smitten with the little Lan brat”
Jiang Cheng turns to look at him and raises a single brow. “Not to be presumptuous or anything” he says, voice full of teasing mirth, “but you my dearest, sound a little jealous”
“Please” Wei Ying scoffs, but he doesn’t look Jiang Cheng in the eyes and instead just picks at a piece of chipped paint on the door. “I’m not jealous” he crosses his arms over his chest and tries to look nonchalant.
Jiang Cheng is grinning now like the damn Cheshire cat. “You so are” he teases.
“I’m going home now” Wei Ying sighs and Jiang Cheng laughs, grabbing little Jingyi. He hooks him on his hip and dashes after Wei Ying.
“Don’t be like that” Jiang Cheng laughs softly taking Wei Ying’s hand in his, “don’t go”
“What’s the point, it’s like I’m not even here anyways”
“Wei Ying, you are being so ridiculous. Come on, look, I’ll put Jingyi down for a nap and then my attention is all yours” he promises.
“I want a kiss for every second you ignored me” Wei Ying complies, pulling Jiang Cheng in for a kiss.
