Work Text:
Severus looked down with a scowl. Hermione snickered.
Strictly speaking, they were not interested in owning a pet. The tiny creature attached to Severus’ hip, however, seemed to have a difficult opinion on the matter.
The baby Lethifold had appeared in their lab only days before, and seemed to have imprinted on the surly man. It had followed him everywhere since. They had just returned from their final attempt at a solution; a shelter for magical creatures. It turned out that a little known fact about a multitude of adolescent magical creatures was that, should they be removed from their parent, they could fail to thrive. And for all intents and purposes, this little Lethifold had decided that Severus was its parent.
Hermione took in the scene before her, her dear husband in his signature black cloak—by many accounts a friend of the darkness, and the small dark creature that adored him.
“So what shall we name you, little one?”
