Brud awoke to a loud bang, jolting upright and panickedly looking around. His eyes (well, the one that actually looked the direction he wanted it to) finally settled on his roommate, OWAKCX, aka Nine, standing beside a knocked-over side table, looking like a twitching deer in headlights.
“Uhh, Niney? Why are you up??” Brud yawned, raising an eyebrow. “I- I- uhm- s-sorry!” Nine squeaked, wringing out his hands. “I just- I couldn’t f-fall asleep…” Brud hummed, standing and stepping over, clumsily wrapping his around Nine’s waist and pulling him against himself. Nine flinched, his cheeks heating up under his spiky fur. “W-w-what are y-!?” Brud stumbled back over and flopped down on his lower bunk, pulling him down with him. He rolled onto his side and loosened his arms to let him adjust, legs wrapping around his hips. Nine’s skin was so red you could see it through his neon green fur. He stammered a couple syllables before Brud cut him off.
“Sorry, I wanted cuddles. Do you mind?” He knew Nine would protest if he told him it was for him, he could never seem to accept help. Plus, it wasn’t necessarily a lie, he’d definitely been a little touch-starved himself lately.
“Oh- yeah, o-of course.” He slowly and awkwardly inched closer, pressing his chest against Brud’s and resting his head in the crook of his neck. He smelled like dirt and moss in an oddly comforting way, his slow heartbeat helping to slow his own.
Nine’s eyes fluttered shut, yawning. “Night-night, Niney.” The green sprunki mumbled something unintelligible in response as he drifted off, warm and happy in Brud’s arms.
