Summary
A reimagining/retelling of canon events starting from the table scene. Mikasa grapples with the decision to confront Eren and stop the Rumbling.
“Sit,” Eren says.
She does.
The chair is soft, upholstered in a cream brocade. The dining room is elegant, decorated with heavy, polished wood furniture and exotic oil paintings of foreign lands. Behind them, two ships battle in a frothing sea, the painted details so crisp she can almost smell the brine and feel the cold ocean spray. Armin and Gabi are escorted outside. Armin's face is bleeding, his eye distorted, swelling, and then healing, the skin rippling grotesquely. The girl is terrified, all the bravado gone, shuffling after Armin, sticking close to the only person she can trust not to kill her.
“Close the door,” Eren calls, and Floch shuts it with a gentle click of the latch.
